Hey Waigwa....long long time...thumbs up for ur ever green sweet song.I lived wt you and ur Family in Mariakani S.B.We were neighbours.Get in touch so I know how u are.Wish u well.
This lovely song reminds me of my childhood days. I was a young boy with loving parents. I could listen to it from radio sitting beside my late dad as the sun slowly went down the village. I didn't know love then, neither do I understand it now at 54, but this song gives me a mixed feeling of pain and joy. This is the kind of song that marks our Kenyan heroes. I believe if waigwa lived to date he would be a world music kingpin. Thanks maxsann media for recording and please modernise it in memory of Waigwa Wachira. He was like no other.
This is s real master piece and it was sung ahead of its time. I don't understand however why the video clip shows people walking backwards. It spoils novelty
Waigwa was great.l knew him well...his Mum and Sister. This song lives forever.Rest in peace Mwalimu.Rest in peace Mum for bearing him who gave us this song.Mokaya.
I recall Waigwa Wachira when came to our high school with University of Nairobi's Free Travelling Theatre, and during the interlude, he had us all sing the chorus alongside
So , this song brings lot's of memories back growing up in my Grandparents homestead. I was in upper primary school, puberty years you know 😊. After hard day of farmwork or from grazing the goats. I will take a shower then the will take a stool and Sanyo radio 📻. I will go outside the fence where the paper tree was sit on a stool , basking in the sun set listening to Nzau Kalulu's sundowner.. Memories are made of this 😊😁
So the song was recorded in 83..I heard it first in 87..,as a teenager, and it was sundowner presented by Catherine ndonye....I fell in love with her intantly..... puppy love.
Did you know waigwa wachira could use all the alphabet sounds, not only the a,e,i,o,u bt there are others i cant remember.his english was so good that he taught the whites english
Waaaooo....am just crying tears of joy....I wonder why such creative people just go so early....it's a wonderful song.... just dedicating the song to my parents who are now aged....live long Dad and Mom ur my best....
I first heard it in 1982 while preparing to leave for school in the first day of reopening a new school term.Leonard Mambo Mbotela on kbc radio back then
Had it in the early 80's on air in Kenya by the queen, master of news and sundowner presentation Catherine Kasavuri, the song still ringers in my heart.
@@kenyastud That one must have been b4 my time. I don't recognise the name. If she was there in the 80s...I wouldn't know coz I first watched a TV at close range after 1990. Having said that, was Ndonye a dark skinny thing? For some reason that picture comes to my mind
With heart broken heart, this song has given me a reason to move on. I will get up and march, my revenge will come.... It will definitely come, however much it will delay, but definitely it will come...! With Ceska 🔫 everything is possible 😭😭😭
I first heard this song in the year 1986 when my aunt took me to Nairobi for the first time. She used to leave me behind every morning and I could play this song several times 😮l
Any time I attend a marriage or ruracio ceremony, this song which I heard when I was in my teens, evokes a lot of good times in my parents home in Laikipia.
The best thing that has happened yo me is to come across this song! I have been looking for it for many years! So sorry to learn that the author died. What a song!
It reminds of my dad while i was in secondary school we used to listen to sundowner and knots that bids with him after school since i was a day schooler and mum would make us a cup of tea . May their souls rest in peace and waigwas voice entertain them with angels
Used to hear this song as a signature tune for 'Ties that bind' on Kenya Broadcasting Corporation. Words can't describe the composition. Wow!

First heard from Dr Waigwa Wachira himself when he sang it as he taught us in Literature at the University of Nairobi
In October 1983 it knocked off Marvin Gaye's " sexual healing" off the local pop charts

How I wish the recording were to take place today..... giving the song voice clarity etc!!! Waigwa Wachira was very promising.

The song is great but what in the ubeberu is going on with the video? You couldn't find images or footage of an African wedding?

Kasavuli si mtu wa 80s, ni wa 90s
@@ranjusranjus143 Am 65, my mind going downhill, you are right am mixing people. Could it have been Catherine Ndonye?
