    I think a lot of times we over romanticize the work our parents and grandparents did. In no disrespect to your dad, I myself did some difficult work earlier on and my dad worked very physical labor for over 30 years. But at the time, during what now you’d look back as suffering, it never felt so. It was just doing the thing. I’m just working and finding small pleasures in it. Maybe that’s our coping mechanism. Or just maybe prior to social media we weren’t as exposed to the wealth or perceived excess of others. Sometimes I look back at those times with nostalgia of the simplicity. I hope you see what I mean.

    Despite the qualifying statements, I still sense a feeling of grievance, chip on your shoulder, envy, and an injury of being looked down upon, and a desire for wealth or status or recognition. Despite the statement that money is not all that important. But all those can be valid feelings. But you should come to terms that nothing is owed to you now, or that something was irresponsibley handed out to a previous generation or ethnicity.

    • @TheoandHarris

      Hey man! Great comment and perspective. The wounds may be well mended, but that skin is always tender. I am certainly not completely “healed”, and I’m not sure I want to be. That chip on the shoulder, balanced with some healthy perspective, is a very productive character trait that I’m grateful for. Again, it’s a tough equation, but I’m doin my best!

    • @TheoandHarris
      @TheoandHarris 9 месяцев назад +2

      The only piece I’ll take exception with is the “owed”… that’s categorically a misread. I feel no entitlement, never did. Anger and embarrassment, yes. But never entitlement…

    • @sc1
      @sc1 9 месяцев назад

      @@TheoandHarris No harm meant. In fact, I often feel like an outcast, an outsider, because of my name and color of skin. Especially because I need to work with suburban/rural whites, and can hear their explicit or implicit judgement on the daily.
      I cannot take it personally, or it will ruin me. I just need to keep plugging along.
      Someone said “no one can make you feel bad about yourself, unless you allow them to.”

    It's an aspiring video. BUT I have a lot of qualms with it.
    When I first started watching Christian's videos, back when he used to do them out of his car, he already lived on Long Island. I've never met a poor person who lived on Long Island. Period.
    Second, Christian gets a decent amount of SSD due to his inability to smell. I mean like it could pay the majority of your rent in the South kind of disability payment. In addition, when he started out in this business, he lived with his parents. So, when Chistian says he did this on his own, I can't help but wonder how many disability payments went toward the business when he was starting out. When the government supports your needs, can really claim success as though it's your own?

    • @TheoandHarris
      @TheoandHarris 8 месяцев назад

      I can’t tell if you’re joking around or not. I am not from Long Island and I do not get SSD. I did live with my parents until I was 26 though yes. I am very lucky for their support

      I agree. This seems trivial. He sees being poor with purchasing nicer items. He is clueless essentially. His Dad had a pizza job that many of us men would see a calling or dream rather than seeing as a job placed in a "class". His mind is poor. Not having nice things does not should not make someone sad. Living in a harsh environment shouldn't make someone sad. It's what we value that will determine much of our happiness. I can go on but I won't. It does not matter if this man grew up in the USA. I just hope he can enjoy life regardless of anything or everything.
