Although yes this Season was directed by Frank Darabont who made particularly choices about the Walkers physicality (how they can run and climb etc) But It also kinda fits in with the story of decay In the beginning the Walkers are kinda fresh and as the series goes on the Walkers start decaying making them lose more motor functions as time passes.
When they filmed the first Season Michael Rooker ended up getting the cops called on him because people in other buildings thought he was a sniper The Atlanta SWAT team rushed to the scene and learned that Michael Rooker was just an actor Lol.
It is featured on the DVD extras and on RUclips but I would probably advise to check out the Webisodes when your further deeper in the show that would be a good time to see them.
