  • When Draigon Schmitt noticed some of his classmates with disabilities weren't connecting with other students, he decided to find a way to create more friendships at his school. Thus, the Buddy Club was born - a club for students of all abilities to come together, learn social skills, and forge new friendships.
The Buddy Club meets on Friday mornings at Trautwein Elementary School in the Mehlville School District.
Nine PBS's Mental Well-Being Initiative works with a network of trusted partners to support the day-to-day social, emotional, and cognitive needs of kids from infancy to 8 and adults in their lives through solutions-oriented media content and culturally competent resources that promote open dialogue and healthy communication. This is such an awesome program! In a time when people are so self-interested and device dependent, it's great to see kids, people being empathetic and connect on a human level even with people different from themselves. Look at God!❤
