Love your room. My wife just got her first classroom and is teaching 3rd grade. She just finished college, and this is her first year teaching. What do you think are the most essential things for her to start off with to set her classroom up?
You’re the best 😊 thanks for watching!! It is incredible having such a small class! We’ll be back to 16-18 next year (which is still pretty good in comparison to other schools).
@@stacypoppe6893 definitely varies throughout the state. I was in a neighboring district my first year of teaching and had 21 kids. But I’d say it’s pretty rare to have a class size more than 24 in elementary. From what I know at least.
super cute, well defined areas, love all the color yet spread out so it's not too much on the eyes. Thank you for your explanation and calm demeanor. I would enjoy learning in your classroom!
I love how calming and authentic your videos are! Do you happen to have a link or know where you got your schedule cards for your whiteboard? I didn't see them on your TPT. I love the gentle rainbow colors that they are!
Hi Grace! Thank you so much for your kind words. I made those schedule cards and haven't listed them on TPT yet, I can let you know when I get them up there!
Love the idea of students decorating quotes posters- can you tell me where you get the quotes and the directions you give your students regarding decorating them? Is this something you do at the beginning of the year?
This is something I do at the beginning of the year! I love it! Here’s a link to the TPT product I use www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Growth-Mindset-Inspirational-Poster-Quotes-Students-Design-Their-Learning-Space-298948
I know! Our class sizes the last few years were insanely good. I wouldn't consider that normal for Maine. It really matters where you're teaching but I'd say 18-20 is probably the average. Some places more, some less. This coming year I'll have closer to 16 students because we're going down to 3 teachers per grade level from the loss of our COVID funds.
The harmonica is one of my attention getters! It’s pretty fun! Totally agree with the storage behind bulletin boards. Thankful my school thought to install that when building.
I got it from big lots! I never shop there lol but that was a great buy from there. Here’s a link to something similar I think? www.biglots.com/product/white-large-dot-storage-basket/p810712807?N=2720011502&pos=1:6
I really liked everything about your uncluttered classroom. You can tell you've been teaching for a while....those of us who have been teaching for a hot minute are over the cutesy stuff because we know it just becomes a distraction throughout the school year. LOL. One thing that bothered me though is the pride book you had displayed. I don't feel as 3rd grade teachers, that's our place to be bringing that serious topic into the classroom (especially for 8 year olds). I feel that is a parents job.
Thanks for your feedback! I try to keep things simple and uncluttered as much as possible. Everyone has a right to their opinion. I hear yours. At the time we were studying biographies and I selected books that were centered around relatable and interesting people to kids in my classroom. Every student in my classroom is loved and accepted exactly as they are. As a teacher I think it's my responsibility to give students access to books that allow them to feel that acceptance. This is a nuanced topic and one full of many different sides. I do what I think is best for my students and my classroom.

12 students! What a blessing to have a great class size!! I wish I had room for both desk space and floor space for my kiddos! Thanks for the tour!

@@lifewithmrsleet3708 That is crazy! Is that typical in Maine? I started the year with 34 3rd graders and am now at 30.

What! 12 students! You are so blessed! Is that normal for Maine? I have 23 this year and that’s considered “pretty good” (in AZ)

Where did you get the storage bin that holds your bucket chairs? I'm on the lookout for storage options for mine!

Thanks!
About how many students do you anticipate having next year?
Likely between 16-18 students next year!
Do you teach Elementary school
Yes! Third grade!
@@lifewithmrsleet3708 oh I’m in 3rd grade and I’m in Elementary school I’m pretty sure
