Thank you so much David! I really appreciate you watching my videos and giving me feedback. Thanks to the artic chill we are currently experiencing, I have not been able to make any videos, however, as soon as it warms up, I will try to get back out there and bring you more content!
@@ViolettaTalley hey thanks for replying Violetta, you guys are freezing now but looking forward to you and your friends getting back at it. By the way you were way daring catching salmon from a kayak
@@daviddevine5880 Salmon fishing from a kayak was a BLAST! I never thought it would be as fun as it was. Also, I was never worried about it because I take all precautions when in my kayak and safety is always first!
They are allowing fishing but only in one little spot and I feel it's not even worth it. You are better off fishing at 95th off lake shore drive but it gets pretty packed in those areas.
Florin is a great guy & great fisherman...what an awesome Video so nice to see happy friendly people hope to see you all out there maybe next year. thanks for the wonderful share.
I have seen Florin a couple of times while out there and he has been nothing but kind and very friendly, and a hell of a fisherman!!! I learned a lot from him and look forward to seeing him on the lakefront again!
Great job in catching a lot of big ones! It was great to meet you and I hope I see all of you again soon! Good luck with your film major and I hope you have lots of success in the future!
I'd love to join you all fishing sometime! I'm really enthusiastic about fishing but unfortunately have nobody to go with. As my friends and I have all gotten married and had kids, etc, seems most don't have the time or desire to spend a weekend day fishing. Unlike them, I have an amazing wife who encourages me to go out and pursue my hobbies. So until I can find a good group of people with common interests, I'm stuck going alone ps, this summer I'll be buying my first fishing kayak, so more adventures to come!
You are more than welcome to join us anytime! Hopefully the perch will be coming in in the next couple of weeks and we should be back at Navy Pier perch fishing by end of November at the latest. Make sure to check back with me or follow my Instagram @violettatalley or facebook @violetoutdoors for updates on when we will start going out perch fishing! You can also communicate better with me at those social media accounts.
I believe my wife and I are going down to the pier New Years weekend to do a little perchie perchie. Your videos make it look so inviting. We will say hi and introduce ourselves if we see you and your friends. Tight lines and safe travels. Also, when is the expected freeze over on the pier? We are up in the Green Bay area. and the harbors are mostly frozen over already.
I have only been perch fishing for about a year, but I remember the Navy Pier bay freeing over in early February, but the temps are colder now at this time than they were last year. It's hard to say!! Hopefully, I see you guys over the weekend because I may be fishing there as well over New Years weekend.
The great thing about Navy Pier is that if you get too cold or need to use the bathroom, the entrance to the complex is nearby and you can go in and get warm if you need to!
BigWinHunter thank you so much for watching! I appreciate the friendship I have with other Anglers. They are special bunch of people that stick together and are very loyal and I appreciate each and every one of them!
Are the perch still active this time of year? Is there a lot of ice on the lake by Navy Pier? Is perch fishing possible now? Weather is warming this week...
Mary Gallagher there are a couple openings so you don't have to hop over the cement barrier. Many fishermen bring carts with buckets and they are able to wheel them through the openings just fine.
Yes, there are several anglers out there at the pier using ice rods with 4lb test and catching them. Just be careful and have your drag et because several anglers have also hooked onto a 10lb lake trout while perch fishing!
I don't think there is any temperature that would stop me as long as I am dressed warm enough... hot hands hot packs are ESSENTIAL! If I can no longer feel my hands or toes, I stop fishing.... but only until they get warm again, LOL!
I just truly love fishing! Also, I know I can dress warm enough, but once you are chilled to the bone, it can sometimes get hard to get warm again and then it's time to bring in the lines and head home, but I usually can get several hours of fishing done in the cold. Nothing, however, is worth your safety, especially when it comes to frostbite or hypothermia.... just overdress in layers because you can ALWAYS take layers off and don't forget the HOT HANDS heated packets!!! They are truly a lifesaver!!!!
Very nice video. Respectfully, I would recommend a jiggin rap tipped with a minnow head. I am not sure why, but on Friday, I able to get 30+ jumbo perch(all over 9"), with the best action being in the afternoon. I caught a couple(around 5) that were literally stuffed with eggs. I would recommend holding the jigging rap still, and giving it the slightest twitches possible. Personally, I would feel giants pull the bait down hard, which is how I caught most of my fish. As always, very nice video.
Very good tip. I actually do have a jiggin rap, but I was doing so well with the kastmaster that I didn't get a chance to put the jiggin rap on. I think though it would have been beneficial for me to try it. Thank you so much for watching!!!
I fish for a little of everything. Bass, pike, walleye, panfish, catfish, you name it. I haven't gone for perch in years but would love to try it again some time.
Another great video!! Hey do you guys use plastic baits at all for bass, perch, or ice fishing? If so, can I send you and your husband a few free packs of plastics I make?
LOL! As always, I appreciate any advice you have to give. Thank you for all of your help and support and I look forward to fishing with you in the future!
violetta keep these pier videos coming, I really enjoy seeing you and your gang catching these fish right downtown

How the fishing now thinking about coming out from indiana next week.
Are the perch still active this time of year? Is there a lot of ice on the lake by Navy Pier? Is perch fishing possible now? Weather is warming this week...
Yes, perch fishing is still going strong! You will need something to break the ice however.
Do they ever ice fish for the perch
Donald Hamm absolutely. Once the harbors freeze solid, many fisherman will ice fish for perch.
Nice person my friend. Hope you had a Merry Christmas
Ralph Barton thank you so much for watching! I wish you a merry Christmas to you and all of your family and a wonderful and blessed holiday!
I see the cement barrier behind everyone. Are there very many openings for people with limited mobility to fish on this pier?
Mary Gallagher there are a couple openings so you don't have to hop over the cement barrier. Many fishermen bring carts with buckets and they are able to wheel them through the openings just fine.
Thank you so much. I think I'm putting this area on my places to fish list. :)
what do you use for lake trout from lake Michigan's shore?
We have used little cleo or moonglow spoons, but others are catching them on live bait like golden roaches with a 3oz weight with a 5/6 foot leader
thank love all you videos. keep it up
I really appreciate you watching the videos! Tight lines!
Question what exactly is this at like streets I'd love to see y'all fishing
Would 4 lb test work for this? Keep up the great videos.
Yes, there are several anglers out there at the pier using ice rods with 4lb test and catching them. Just be careful and have your drag et because several anglers have also hooked onto a 10lb lake trout while perch fishing!
Love your videos! Is there a temperature limit that stops you from fishing at Navy Pier? Do you have a favorite time of day to fish there?
I don't think there is any temperature that would stop me as long as I am dressed warm enough... hot hands hot packs are ESSENTIAL! If I can no longer feel my hands or toes, I stop fishing.... but only until they get warm again, LOL!
Thank you! WOW! You are dedicated.

Addicted Angler, Drinks?!? I was there. I don't remember anyone serving drinks! Would have helped against the cold though. Whiskey, please!
