Kurt, thanks! I'd definitely like to make more content. Time with the full-time gig and of course other create endeavors is always a challenge. Trying to figure that out for certain. Cheers!
I am trying to change the volume in the clip themselves in pro tools first, however I couldn't see the fade icon and 0 dB, does it feature in Pro tool first?
Hey hey... I wish I could answer that but I've never used Pro Tools First. I actually just went over to Avid to download and install it so I could answer your question but it seems as if they've pulled the installation off of their site. To that, and I'm not sure if this will help you or anything but technically what you are looking for is "Clip Gain" not "Volume". Gain is generally the term used for level setting on the way INTO a mixing system and "volume" for levels on the way "out" of that mixing system. I'm not sure if PT First has this but if it does and you aren't seeing it, from the menu choose VIEW/CLIP and make sure "CLIP GAIN INFO" is checked. If it's there and once it's checked you should see that option on each clip. Hopefully this gets your somewhere... cheers!
Nice video, question. I already adjusted some of tha volume in some regions due to harsh sounds, and now tha harsh sounds are gone, but. Now I want to turn tha whole entire section of that word up, and when I do, my lines are not flat, it looks like I am building a house with tha lines if that makes sense. Do you know how to turn up tha whole volume on that section "after" I already turned down some of tha words in that same section ? Thanks
Thanks for the question! Watch the linked to section of this video and just apply everything I do for panning, to the volume envelope instead! ruclips.net/video/_FTqcDO-7m8/видео.htmlsi=WvX6RBc6c6K4Nfb4&t=271
I'm using shure SM58 to record my vocal. Im using scarlett 2i2 as my audio interface and using audio technica as my headphones. I am using pro tools ultimate free trial atm. When I press track record enable to hear my live vocals the volume is very low almost non existence. When i crank up the volume to max on everything then I hear my voice on average level like talking to a person face to face. Any suggestions? can anyone assist? Thank you in advance !
Not knowing your vocal style it's hard to be accurate BUT I can tell you this... an SM58 needs a decent amount of gain... which you SHOULD be able to get from the 2i2 but that's also determined by how far you may or may not be from the mic and how loud (or quiet) you vocal is. If your vocal style is somewhat soft or quiet I wouldn't be surprised if you had to have the gain of the 2i2 cranked all the way up. Microphones and preamp combinations can be a little tricky. If you want more gain you could swap the 58 for a mic with a hotter output level like a Rode M3 (a handheld cardioid mic like the SM58 but as it' a condenser mic it has a loud output level and requires less amplification than the 58 does... but does require Phantom Power (48v button on your 2i2), OR you could grab mic activator like the Cloud Microphones CL-1 which can amplify the mic a little more before it goes into the 2i2. Hope that helps and good luck!
Thanks for a great video. I am new to Pro Tools. I am using Pro Tools Intro. I have imported an MP3 audio file. The waveform shows up on the track as expected. However, when I select Play, the track appears to be playing, but I can't hear it. I am using a Focusrite 2i2, which is working fine, since I am able to listen to your video and follow your instructions, but I just can't hear anything when I play the track. I welcome any suggestions which you (or others) may have.
Hi Deryck! Along the Pro Tools menu bar across the top of your screen, Click on SETUP and then PLAYBACK ENGINE. In the box that pops up, under the DEVICE section you will see PLAYBACK ENGINE as an option. Click in the drop box and you should see the Focusrite as an option. Choose that and click on OK in the bottom right hand corner of the window. Pro Tools may ask to save and restart. That's fine. When it opens up again your sound should be coming from the Focusrite. Just make sure you have the Focusrite connected before you do all of this. Now, I don't have INTRO installed on my machine but my guess is this setup should be pretty similar. I hope this helps! Cheers! -GMA
If you have you track I/O panel selected (check here for that ruclips.net/video/19pi441xAeo/видео.html ) The track volume control will affect all clips at once. If you specifically want to use the clip gain, you could GROUP those clips together then change the clip gain for the grouped clip. Beware though. those changes are lot if you UNGROUP the clips at a later time.
Thank you for the straight forward no nonsense approach. My track sounds really low in volume after I use the Bounce Mix function...Is there a basic but effective way to deal with that?
If you don't have a MASTER FADER created do that, that makes a single fader capable or raising and lowering your entire mix uniformly and a post-fader meter to show if any of those changes cause any clipping or not. Check out 11:22 in this video here for how to make that: ruclips.net/video/TedTrBI6c3M/видео.html . Hope that helps!
@@GoodMorningAudio Thank you! I will check it out...Wondering if you might have some thoughts on another ProTools issue that I'm trying to resolve? It never ends does it? Someone sent me a session, it opens fine...but the tracks won't sound unless the playback engine is set to ProTools Aggregate. When I change it to my interface, the Apollo x4, the signal doesn't go through even though I assigned the outputs. What am I missing?...(probably something obvious!)
I've had this happen on occasion as well. Trying going into "SETUP" then "I/O..." and in the Input/Output and Bus tabs, click on DEFAULT and see if that sorts you out!
Really well put together video. Concise, clear and interesting to listen to.
Thanks!
Awesome tutorial, you should make more videos, this by far is one of the better ones to understand. Thank you.

Do that make difference in volume?
It does!
Windows does not have a volume tab on individual audio pieces. Any idea how to raise volume in this case?
Windows does! From the Pro Tools menu bar choose, VIEW/CLIP/CLIP GAIN INFO! Cheers!

I’m using pro tools first , i don’t have the individual volume control for clips, is there a way to turn it on ?
Thanks for asking but I haven't used Pro Tools First at all so I'm not sure what it can or can't do.

When I raise the audio while using a preset it ruins the audio, how do I fix this?
When you say "preset" do you mean a plugin preset or using one of the built in templates that Pro Tools offers?
Thanks for a great video.

Any way to change the gain in a track that has splits/cuts without having to do it manually for every cut?

I'm getting a terrible fade in and fade out on vocals-is this caused by a noise gate?

How to reset volume by defualt ? Double click doesn't work
Option + Left Click (Mac) or ALT+Left Click (Windows)
