Hi Martin, I soaked them with petrol from a spray bottle and used small brushes and anything small and long enough to dislodge the hard bits like skewers, screwdrivers etc. I then made caps for the top and bottom and finished them in the sandblasting cabinet
nice job! great looking gear box. Is that paint on the cylinders going to make cooling less efficient? Isn t going to prevent the heat exchange? I won t paint mines,(cleaning tip will help) but just curious. I heard it so many times.
Time will tell mate, plenty out there doing it but I do have it in the back of my mind. I'm thinking if it does present a heat problem I may add a oil cooler 😉
@@tari0048 It's all good buddy, I have ridden her through an Australian summer now and it barely hit 110°C 😉 This was measuring the oil temp though via the sump plug temp sensor I made up for the motoscope pro.
@@tari0048 Thanks buddy :) I'm defo a fan of blacking out everything! Both of my builds confirm that lol. Have you got your build on insta? Love to see how it looks 🤘
Was there a reason why you did not cerekote it like your other parts? Was it just for the look your looking for?
Exactly Tyler, it was just to match the block and covers buddy.
How did you clean between the fines on the cylinder heads? I am finding it very hard to get all the dirt and surface corrosion out

Mate that petrol works a treat for cleaning!! I'll be giving it a go on mine shortly. Cheers
100% Mike and only $1.20 a litre 😁 a lot better than expensive degreaser cans!
