Pikmin has had many strange speedrunning categories throughout the series. This video will cover the most obtuse speedrunning categories in Pikmin history.
Watch "Press A"s video on his pikmin 1 with blue/yellow/red only. Bad life decisions is definitely an accurate description of the challenge run. They definitely aren't speed runs, just "is it technically possible runs". And supposedly the final trial is possible red only if you get insanely lucky and a bomb spawns on the lower ledge. (It would allow you to clip up and actually reach the boss)
7:24 we originally decided to do 6 fruits because that was the maximum amount of fruits that you could get on day 2 but it turns out to be faster to get 3 from the tropical wilds
young me accidentally tried what might as well have been a low % run because he wanted to do red only and didn't want to make purples as a result - young me was smart for once when he decided it simply wasn't worth it.
Well researched video, i always like stumbling into a video where im randomly in it. This video could be entirely about pikmin 1. Theres a meme speedrun leaderboard with about 15 different weird categories. Redless and onionless are on there, but theres way more.
hey, im in this video! also to answer the question of "why 6 fruits?" the decision was based off of the max number of fruits obtainable from the first visit to garden of hope, it just happened to be faster to go to tropical wilds instead lol.
A category from Pikmin 3 I like is swapless, where you have to beat the game without ever swapping captains. It was originally Any% only, but then I became the first person to prove it was possible to get all 66 fruits swapless. I didn't do anything particularly novel, I'm sure some speedrunners had already figured it was possible. But it was such a mundane effort that I was the first to ever do it.
I gotta say, that one guy that spent a whole day killing snowy bulborbs really had nothing to do in his life... Also, love the videos. Continue your streak. I'm excited to see what's coming next...
3:40 It might not have been a strict low% run, but a RUclipsr named JinjoVitis (now named Fabio Mouro) did a video doing a "Pikmin 2 Extinction Challenge" where he essentially does the same thing. It took him 42:18:00, which is around 2 days in total. His video (and channel) is really funny and I recommend checking it out if you like Pikmin challenges!
haven't looked into official pikmin 4 categories yet, but have been essentially playing max% 7 pikmin. would highly recommend if you have the brain capacity _of_ a pikmin and/or enjoy slamming your head into walls
just wondering, in pikmin 1 what's the difference between any%, 100% and all ship parts? to beat the game as fast as possible you'd have to get all the parts anyway.
@@lasercraft32 Pikmin 1 is literally faster to 100% than Any% if you're at the speedrun level of skill. Those 5 optional parts take less time to collect on your way to the mandatory ones than loading the level, watching the unskippable landing cutscene, going to sunset, going back to the map, and repeating that 24 times in order to get to day 30 and trigger the any% ending.
low% seems like a living nightmare
Caffeine Overdose speedrun any% world record
Olimar Dies
Pikmin 2 low%
I accidentally did a “Pikmin 2 low%” run where I completed the debt quest with exactly 10,000 pokos. Ten times easier.
The bulborb in your pfp looks like they did a low% run
@@pock3ts137 HEEHAHAHAHHEEJEHDHDJD
a lot of these speedrun categories just seem like bad life decisions

I can already see the possibility of an Oatchi% in Pikmin 4. Just beating thr game with only Oatchi as fast as possible lol.
0% Oatchi speedrun when?
sadly it will never happen because you need to sprout 7 pikmin in order to carry the treasures in the prolouge
@@midway8612 it could be like no reds speedrun where it starts in day 2 condidering you absolutely need red pikmin on day 1
@@midway8612 Who knows? Maybe someday someone will find a glitch to pull it off.
@@silverfang8717 maybe, I dunno

Yeesh Low% also requires the advanced planning to make sure you computer can deal with a video file that large

I should have mentioned it in the video but Pikmin 1 only has the 100% category (All Ship Parts)
@@imonlyhereforpikmin ah thanks for explaining
Well for any% you don't actually _need_ all the ship parts. Many of them are optional, including the piggy bank found in the final area.

@@smokyprogg Good point...
I bet there's gonna be a new speedrun with all 4 mainline games, sorta like a Pikmin 297 but WORSE!!!
Nice video! This channel is so underrated
yes true
I'm honestly shocked there's not a Weed% category for Pikmin 2
They are more like challenge than Speedrun.
6:38 Doubling Charlie! 6:42 Yum, Powerade juice!
I would recommend making the music a little quite :)
Me who has over 3000 PIKMIN
7:07 Fortnite slurp juice
What's that song at the end called? It sounds familiar.
I think it's the practice theme from one of the rhythm heaven games.
alright i would have watched this video but the audio was way too much alright
Do you need to kill some Pikmin for the 20 Pikmin run?
Does anyone know the name of the music at 3:07?
Brahms Intermezzo in A Major Op. 118 No. 2
