Pikmin 3 Deluxe - All Fruits Speedrun (Ultra-Spicy|10 days|No deaths)

- In this segmented run I tried to gather all fruits in 10 days (which is the minimum number of days required) in ultra-spicy mode with no pikmin deaths. Each day was played separately and the clips were stitched together into one video. I didn't put too much thinking in the routes so those are highly questionable and by no means the fastest routes possible. My general stance on ultra-spicy is that despite the lower amont of pikmin, it is not too much different as a speedrun than normal or hard mode. For that reason, I will mainly speedrun the game in normal mode. The differences I found between hard mode and ultra-spicy are:
-obviously, 60 pikmin maximum on the field
-pikmin drown faster (not impactful on speedruns)
-fruits give half the juice (not impactful on speedruns)
There might be others that I didn't notice!

I thought that a pikmin speedrun would be making as much progress as possible in one day but ending days to save time and do stuff later is actually kind of brilliant
I figured this out on the final boss actually 💀
when you think about it, ending days early is like a double edge sword: on one end you save time on one day but on the other end you have to deal with it later
I love when fighting the third boss, There’s just this super intense fight and then cut to relaxing waterfall walk, And back to the fight, And back to the chill pikmin experience, Incredible video and run!

i like that this run relies more on planing than on clipping glitches. It's realy entertainig, thanks for sharing this IC.
In these games you have very little mobility, but there are a few clips, especially thanks to the ability to throw your crewmates in 3 letting you toss your allies oob

The meerslug fight was hilarious seeing brittany fight for her life while alph and charlie were going on a nice walk under a beautiful waterfall
The new “Oh did you accidentally whistle a Pikmin while it was doing something? It’ll only do a short hop and wait until you whistle it again!” and “Oh are you near a pikmin’s destination? Well then the pikmin will automatically be in your squadron :)” are very helpful for speedruns and the speedrunning community as a whole.

@@alanavalos6645 I found it annoying sometimes myself, like if a shard pile was empty and I was whistling a pikmin that was returning to the pile and a shard carrying pikmin was passing right by to build the bridge it'll just stop.

ultra-spicy is weird in the sense that in where you could have forty days worth of juice in hard mode, you would only have like five in ultra-spicy.
Also the first time when u notice thta u can only have 60 pikmin
Yeah, like that Watermelon I swear would keep you fed for like, 5 days on the normal difficulty but on Ultra-Spicy it's not even 2 days.

As a non-speedrunner, I took around 8 hours. Well, I say non-speedrunner, but I guess that isn't entirely true. I do try to beat the game in less days every playthrough.

That's right, there are a lot of eggs in normal mode, some eggs in hard mode and no eggs in ultra spicy
Even if there were eggs around, I doubt I would use them. I’ve been playing pikmin 3 since it first came out, and I’m no speed runner, but I do try to finish the game quick, and I don’t waste time with eggs or nectar, or even the dragonfly in twilight river. The difference from leaf and flowers isn’t good enough for me to justify going out of my way to get it. I’d probably just use ultra spicy

@@heisdabombdotcom6264 in the original pikmin 3 leafs where so painfully slow and it was hard to do anything during the full boss and now I’m glad that pikmin have ok speed

Oh god imagine 103 players, the pikmin can follow the captains or run around doing stuff, and if you die you have to wait for the captain to call another out of the onion, the controls for pikmin would be climb, jump, attack, run, dig, carry, and much more, saddly we have to wait to get that as the ping would be super high if we tried that but it would be really cool watching 103 people run around without following the captains, and it would encourage ethier following captains or sticking with other pikmin to do tasks like kill stuff, when a captain enters a boss area all pikmin players would be notified that the boss is starting and they need to get to it, bad side is that only the captains decide what type of pikmin you are and it’s random if 20 of each type is taken out, this would be a big game if it had that but if some one where to put a bunch of computers together I think this would be possible
@@alanavalos6645 It can be like Tetris 99 that doesn’t have a lot of ping. Though the Pikmin players will be bored carrying stuff... However, imagine bingo battles.

If you charge a object that can be picked up
Only the required amount of pikmin needed will pick it up,the others will charge but soon will come back
This doesnt work for walls or battling, just for cqrrying objects
On day 1 with Alph you don’t need to whistle your Pikmin after they push the box. The cutscene where you break the wall with the charge mechanic teleports your Pikmin to you. You could have 0 Pikmin in your squad and they could be any where but the cutscene teleports them to you no matter what like the boss cutscenes. I don’t know if it’s slower or faster to whistle though. Hope it helps!
Also on the first stun cutscene for the phosbat you can charge the Pikmin on him and they do damage while the cutscene is playing.
The first tip I doubt changes much since whistling takes literally no time there, but the second one MIGHT eek out one less cycle on the phosbat?
i think it might be slower though because u gotta watch the whole cut scene and its tricky to pull off.
I mobbed the phosbat so harshly that it would’ve died in once cycle but it looks like you can only do so much damage before it becomes invulnerable for that cycle. So I’m not sure if there’s more to that or not.

That out of bounds strategy and the 10 pellet one blew my mind. Even with patched glitches you were able to pull off such an amazing run. Very helpful if I decide to 10 day run this game like I did on the original.

These speedruns are beautiful to watch, every single pikmin is used without any room for error, all moves are calculated, it's truly an art

I knew that as soon as the full game was out, that there would be a speedrun like this. It just makes sense!
Also, I think the less juice IS impactful, because that means less time spent juicing fruits.
Pikmin speedrun routing never ceases to amaze me with just how quickly you can get these games done. I can barely even get past the first Forest of Hope visit (to Armoured Mawdad) in 2 days, and this guy over here's doing it in just over half a day

A neat easter egg that I found is that if you collect raspberries followed by a lime, it creates a bright blue juice.
Found this years ago in the wii u version, idk if it still exists on switch but I'd bet it does, I see no reason to remove it

This is my first time watching a Pikmin speed run. I had no idea you could push the Pikmin to make them move faster. Now I wonder how effective that could be in the time challenge levels.

When I first learned about ultra spicy difficulty, I knew someone would do this. Great video!
I mean that’s cool and all... but what about no fruits, 7 days, no spices, only 42 pikmin, and no deaths in Ultra Spicy mode 😳 (I’m kidding, this run is super cool!)
Well beating the game without collecting fruit is technically impossible since if that was the case u would get a game over by the end of day 4 and u need to be at day 7 to reach the formidable oak.
@@bencundiff9405 actually, he did it in the Wii U version by using an “exploit”. Basically, he only collected parts of fruits, like a few pieces of the watermelon, or only a few grapes, and he collected just enough to make it through the game, and since he never collected any full fruits, the game thinks he didn’t collect any

Well I can tell you for a FACT that this game runs WAYYYUYUUYYYYUUUHHHHH smoother on switch than Wii U. Jesus. I have played this game twice, and watching this video blows my mind at how much more control they give you.
Im not sure which was funnier, the fact louie stole basically nothing, or the fact that after he is returned you go from less then a week to half a months worth of provisions.

I'm glad to see a speedrunner hits the same dumb problem as I regularly do, which is:
(1) Captain tells Pikmin to charge
(2) Player immediately opens Koppad to tell Captain to "Go here", but location is unavailable
(3) Player must close Koppad and wait for Captain to "recover" from the little hop he does when he tells Pikmin to charge
(4) Reopen Koppad, "Go Here" now works
I really wish they'd just let you queue "Go here" to kick in after the recovery, or disable opening the Koppad when a Captain is in a recovery animation

God damn, some of these out of bounds tricks look hard as hell.
And here I thought the game was short because I beat it in 23 in game days and 4 irl days while collecting only 75% of the fruit and losing over 400 pikmin...on normal difficulty

Anything is possible in that game. We'll, except beating the game without getting any fruit because who ever can be able to do that is a mad man.
the game has 5 stages and you need to return in one you only have 3 initial juices so it's impossible
You have some clever skill to collect all fruits whitin 10 days, it takes me longer mainly cause i like playing casual.
I almost do the exact same thing as this in my causal runs. Sick to know that I'm thinking in the same vein as speedrunners!

The new mechanics like a bigger whistle or charging an object and only the required amount of pikmin go on, and also charging and only one type of pikmin charges, are cool, however I think we should have the option to turn it off. I personally don’t like the big whistle, it makes it a hassle to whistle specific pikmin, if I charge an object I want all my pikmin to go on it, not a few and not a specific group, if I disband I want all my pikmin to disband to make it easier to manage, and I know it’s more convenient but just a settings menu for adjusting these would’ve been nice for people who don’t want these extra mechanics. 12:55 is a good example of how these new controls are messing up.
Did you run this with the joy con motion controls? I have a lot of desync issues with them personally

I LOVE pikmin speedruns.
On day 2 when you throw the pikmin across the stream, would it be faster to lock onto the other side and hold a? I haven't tested it, so it might not be that fast or you might already be doing that. Great speedrun though! Looking forward to how much faster it can get!
After playing the game for a while, mashing is definitely faster than holding. I think holding is just so you dont get carpal tunnel or bust your A button

Years ago I discovered the pear glitch (where it appears in front of the wall after a pikmin grabs it) then I watched a speedrun video use it. The ledge glitch beside it is mine though. I found that one first (haven't seen anyone use/mention it ever).
