thanks for that segment about the vignette effect of the lenses!! i noticed that too, and i wasn't sure whether my unit was defective or not, but it's really good to know it's not just my headset!
Great review and i agree with you about the mic sounding worse than quest 2 and everything else has been a great improvement and especially the pancake lens.
Hand tracking is the future! I am desperate for PCVR hand tracking with full body. I need it. I love putting down my controllers and only using them when they're necessary!
i feel like if you value Visual Quality and Depth the Quest 3 is a better headset than the Valve Index...But I made the very interesting choice of buying an Index, because i feel like i'd be getting more out of the Lighthouse Tracking, the knuckle Controllers and direct Display Port connection (Shit Wifi) I will admit, the godrays and glare in the index was surprisingly worse than with my previous Quest 2 that i had (which was more blurry though), but in a lot of games it just doesn't stand out at all for me. The Index is also extremely comfortable to wear, and to get the Quest 3 to be as similar in comfort you would have to buy Accessories. I also heard that the Quest 3's Battery life sucks, and if you play social Games an External microphone is a must. But all in all, i feel like i made a better choice buying and index over the Quest 3.
Good review dude! One of the things that impressed me upgrading from quest 2 to 3 was the lens fog. With quest 2 I'd be removing the headset every 30 mins or so to wipe the lenses because of the condensation. After using the quest 3 for about 5 or 6 hours so far I've not had lens fog once! I tried VRchat briefly and I have to say that the standalone version on Q3 looks better than the Q2 did when it was linked to PC!!!
Have you noticed the mura-like effect on really bright scenes (like the bubbles home environment)? It almost looks like I am looking through a slightly smudged screen. I wondered if that is a result of the diffusion layers you mentioned as I definitely see what you mean about the screen door effect being almost impossible to perceive on the quest 3. Overall it is a huge visual upgrade for me, but it would be interesting to know what is causing this effect.
Only very slightly if the image is close to white and I'm looking for it. I didn't really notice it before people were pointing it out. I still think it's better than vr headsets that have oled panels where the mura is a lot stronger and visible in darker colours as well
@@JamieVatarga Thank you for commenting. This is why I don't actually think it is mura in the traditional sense (i.e. pixels that aren't quite uniform in their colour reproduction) as it really shouldn't exist on modern LCD based panels. Some kind of diffusion coating makes more sense to me. OLED still have mura issues, but that's part of the trade off for getting deep blacks.
I am thinking of getting a quest 3 and I looked at your channel and I saw this, great timing. I think it'll be a good enough upgrade from my aging lenovo mixed reality. Thanks for the review, pretty much sums up what to expect.
@JamieVatarga yeah been quite some time. I think last time I was in vrchat with you guys was 2020 or late 2019. Glad to see the famous youtuber jamie vatarga still around.
Graphics are the same right now, but performance is much better. I posted a video in shorts of me on quest 3 in the black cat, and I was getting around 30fps on average, which is a lot better than the quest 2 in a full black cat lobby
For someone looking to upgrade their headset with a PC to link to, and wanting FBT, what would be the best options these days? My headset now is the original Oculus Rift so I don't have the base stations anyway, I've been looking into the Meta Quest 2 (for a cheaper option) and 3 if they're compatible to use as PCVR. I would mostly use it for VRChat, and don't want to break the bank but also not have a lot of issues setting it up or being choppy in game.
Thanks for the review. I got my quest 3 yesterday and I also use the tundra trackers while on pc/vr. It's been awesome! I'm Just waiting to get the Bobovr M3 head strap with the batteries to extend the battery life.
Facebook problem, especially since most people use virtual desktop compared to airline and that's third party. Gonna be a long time before we get good quest hand tracking on PCVR. It kinda works, but it's not efficient and virtual desktop gets in the way
yknow, I think going from a broken Rift S to a quest 3 will be a huge jump, like I haven't tested the quest 2 or any other headset (except a psvr1 years ago). I think the only difference I'll get from it is the huge quality increase but unable to track above your head (why didn't they add cameras ontop of the headset bruh). Well that's if I get the quest 3, I'm kind of suck on what headset to get, I'll have roughly enough for a quest 3 by later this month after a while of saving, what VR should I get/save for? Also I only really do PC VR, are the headsets like quest 2/quest 3 able to connect to computers well (I'd prefer using a wire, if that's possible)? I haven't watched the entire video yet so I don't know if you've answered any of my questions here yet!
You could attached it to the top front near where the top headstrap connects. I think something that could work but may need a bit of customization is using one of those rubber protective covers that go on the front of the headset, maybe attaching it to that somehow might work
Hey, so does using quest 3 with virtual desktop for VR chat get around the quest 3 world / avatar limitations since you are essentially using the PC version of virtual desktop? Is this the best way to play? The news that VR chat on the quest itself is kinda just a worse version had me bummed, but virtual desktop works well for me with wifi 6, so maybe I should just use that?
I just got into VR...and watched a few videos of you and I kept thinking I seen that profile picture and I realized...suporsalad? you post a lot om headphones and iems?
I have a question is there a way to reset my settings on Vrchat? Or something because when I first joined vrchat I noticed that my avatar legs were broken I tried changing into a different avatar and it’s still broken and I have asked many people if there’s a way to fix this and I couldn’t find any. 😢
I'm not sure. You can try resetting your avatar, but it shouldn't really be an issue. Unless you're using a very small avatar, or if it was an old avatar that had the hip bone inverted as an old FBT fix
I think it depends a lot on how far you are from the lenses. On settings 3 and 4 for the face gasket, I notice it more. But on closer settings I barely notice it's there. But I play with glasses so I have to use the further settings
You can sync them through steamvr, but it is expensive as you need the base stations, and you have to calibrate the two tracking systems. There are other full body tracking systems coming out that work more stand alone for quest as well
Cool to hear you have a separate channel for audio! I recently bought a $45 pair of earbuds called the KZ ZS10 Pro to use alongside my VR headset… what do you think about this? Yes, it is wired, but I have multiple cable ties and even an Amazon third party earbud tip holders (exactly like PSVR 2’s) to hold my earbuds on my headstrap.
Well, I shouldn’t say earbuds, they’re technically IEM’s (comparable to Sennheiser or HiFi). These IEM’s have a low impedance and get pretty loud and sound great plugged straight into a Quest
The ZS10 Pro was pretty popular back in the day. They aren't as common now, but some still love them, and they get a lot of stage use for musicians. I'm not the biggest fan of some older KZ tuning, but I tend to lean more toward a neutral response anyway. The ZS10 Pro is a little more V shaped, which can be good for gaming and adding energy to the sound
@@JamieVatarga great to know! I bought them specifically for the value $45 gets you in terms of quality, especially in a comfortable form factor that’s not like wearing bulky traditional studio headphones
@@JamieVatarga I’ve seen the KZ ZS10 pro go head-to-head with other audiophile over-the-ear headphones (according to some people) despite being the form factor of earbuds which is why I went with it as well
Probably the Bobovr M3 headband and battery packs. It's just coming out now though, so stock is limited. But the same design for the quest 2 is very popular
Yeah there seems to be a bug where they can occasionally happen. I had that happen the first time I tried to connect to my PC. Restarting my computer fixed it for me.
