Awesome car l love the 67 and 68 sharpest mustangs ever built Ford power forever baby keep on pulling the knot out of them boties and the horns off them mopars l love it great video as always keep on doing the great work you do Evan
Great informative video. . Bill is in my age group so hats off to this Vietnam veteran who can still see the sky each time he launches that amazing Shelby Mustang. Without a doubt. You have the best Ford performance channel on U-Tube putting us in the passenger seat and under the hood of these classic and current Ford Hotrods. Great job Evan.
I was sold at the age of 11 in 5th grade, 1970. My Uncle stop next to me on way home from school said "GET IN Robbie". I did and side-stepped the clutch and pounded the gears for 1000 feet , till he slowed then swung into his driveway. I got out said thanks uncle Matt. Half way across his lawn as I walked home I vowed to get a Black Ford with that motor in it. Took me 10 years I got it! In a 67 Fairlane 500. Drag raced it three years, Ran 12 0's, deadly consistent street engine, won 5 of 6 first 6 races in it making ppl known I Mean business. Had a 35% win/loss record with it. Nobody even seen me out there, I came from nowhere suddenly and made waves" as said. Know this engine well. Only issue ever as a 75cent rocker arm bolt broke, else bullet proof engines!
Love it. Bill reminds me so much of my Dad. If he was still around I would share your videos with him. But he would rather adjust rocker arms, cursed at headers, and can tell you a thing or two about spark plugs. Thanks Evan for posting. This video brings back a lot of memories racing with my Dad. Keep the content going. ❤
He started drag racing the year after I was born. What a legend. What a car. So impressive. Will we get the spark plug storey??? Thanks Evan. Love the channel. I’m a die hard Ford fan, and so enjoy your content.
I've watched Bill Hawk race at Buds Creek (MIR) for 30 years at Ford events and hope to see you and him at the track tomorrow. I have enjoyed all the recent content from Maple Grove, Thanks Evan.
Hey Billie, I love the car, As one retired Air Force vet to another, "Thank you for your service.. I'm a crew guy on Division 4, 5 time Top Sportsmans Champion Keith Raftery 68 Camaro.
Thanks Evan! Amazing car and an amazing man! A true National treasure. Thanks so much for sharing this gem with us! I love how Billy retro- fitted the instrument bezel with the gauges over the old bezel. Way cool. Love and blessings to all from Motown.
Here I am again, clicking like before the video ever starts. I just know darn well we are going to have some killer Ford and I'm liking it. Used to goto Maple Grove quite a bit. Even way back some 30 plus years ago. Used to get passes through a local shop in Shrewsbury MA and Joe Amato. Got those till some idiots with us drank to darn much and you know when you drink more than the old racers then you have issues. One idiot was found passed out in the bath tub. Problem was it was someone else room and we didn't know them. Crazy thing is the idiots whom the room belonged to, was stealing sponsor t-shrits and hoodies. Oh what a nightmare the whole thing was and it ruined a great weekend. Well I guess it was better than when I blew my ankle out at Englishtown, heck that I'm still dealing with 23 years later. What a nightmare come to think of it, not like I don't ever not think of it
Right when you think YOUR a Ford guy, along comes Billy. Love everything about this guy. A true no nonsense drag racer keeping the playing field level for 60 years. Yea, 60 years. These guys are becoming rare Revan. An absolute FE guru. When I see guys like Billy and Paquet I can't stop smiling. Great work Billy and you too Revan. Nice to see these real factory race cars still whipping ass at age 60 !!
Really love these old school Ford loyalists, like the Wood's Brothers, Mickey Thompson (deceased), and glad they are still turning wrenches. Not old fashioned, just old school technology that needs to be preserved and promoted, and can still hold it's own against the newer vehicles. The Shelby pony cars up to 1970 were the coolest of the cool. Far better looking cars than any of the Mustangs that came later. You should have miked Mr. Hawk when he was working on those valves. Great video still, and hope to see more like this.
That Shelby fender tag looks brand new like it was made yesterday. Also the stamped lettering on it is very crisp like I have never seen before on alot of other cars.
Historic car and racer. Just to see a beautiful GT500 like this doing some fast passes is amazing. Great pictures with Mr. Shelby and Bob Glidden. Ford history! Just one question, has a Boss 429 Mustang ever competed in Stock Eliminator?
Crazy how you don't have more subs. The stock appearing channel has way more yet they really don't do half of what real racers do. Kudos to you, Evan! BTW, ever hear of a bowtie guy named Boyd Denton? He's a second gen. racer and a true grassroots racer that you amy want to check out. I grew up with him and his dad, he ran a '30s Chevy called the Weasel and was legendary in the East.
Velde Ford. I remember back in the mid 70's Jeff Velde was modifying two four barrel Tunnel Wedge intakes by cutting them apart and using a single plenum, converting them into a single 4 barrel intake. It was good for 2 tenths in the quarter mile over what was currently available for the 428 Cobra Jet. He was going to start casting a version of that intake, but I don't ever remember seeing it. The Gene Turnage SS/F car was the first one to use that intake, then I think that Velde bought the car off of him and campaigned it himself.
I remember my high school buddy, taking his VERY RICH uncle's '69 GT-500 KR convertible out for a test drive with the top down...it was great! I don't think his uncle ever knew, nor would he have approved. It was gold with a white interior, as I remember. NEVER seen the car, since....a 428-CJ Automatic C-6 car.
Car 187 is in registry but it is reportedly in Norway. I asked if this is that car (returned from Norway) but no response from owner or Evan…Brian Styles weighed in and he is one of the 67 Shelby gurus … maybe this is a clone?
Yes, 00187 is reported to be in Norway. The VIN tag on this drag car is a repop, and it is an inaccurate representation of the original car's VIN, as the paint color code was changed to represent the drag car's black paint (3). The VIN on the original car should be 674000F7A00187 (7 = Lime Gold).
Yes GT350 is the small block car, GT500 big block, KR is another story and Shelby also offered a Paxton supercharger for the GT350 but most people didn't get it, a few did.
EXACTLY THREE 1967 Shelby GT500s were fit with 427 side oilers by SAI at LAX…numbers 289, 544 (Super Snake) and 1947 (Drag Unit). All came from Ford San Jose with 428s but SAI converted before their completion and sale. Since SAI is the manufacturer of record, that is factory installed. All three are known and accounted for.
-paper car. Cars like these really changed Stock Eliminator for the worse. Shelby put documentation to a lot of cars that were never really made. This car should have had to race in Top-Stock because of the engine chassis combo. This guy did not get respect from his fellow racers because of the BS behind this car.
If that makes you feel better to say, but it is not true. For the first 30+ years of the NHRA these cars did not exist. This mans red '71 was a legit car- he did not win a lot much less dominate with that car. BUT when he got this paper got built....kinda proves my point.@@revanevan
You finish crying in your Corn Flakes yet? Evan is right, Bill is far from the only guy who did this. You find an advantage and exploit it. He did, get over it. Didn't ruin anything NHRA is still here.
You done repeating total BS? Any guy that did this was wrong and a cheater. Saying he wasnt the only one doesnt make him legitimate somehow. Only Real cars that were actually produced (-in real numbers) were eligible to race in Stock Eliminator for the first 30+ years. AND the class flourished because of this. Now- not so much. No one said its not a cool car. It just should not have been allowed to race in Stock Eliminator. @@dj4monie
Im a chevy man to the core. However, chevy wasnt on the map back then it was ford, and Chrysler sorry i just puked in my mouth saying that but is was smokey yunick, bill Jenkins that got chevy headed the right way ah bullshit guys those old ford torinos were the only cars even close to the super bird the 29 boss was a modern marvel for its day even if the timing chain was 5.5 feet long
Awesome car l love the 67 and 68 sharpest mustangs ever built Ford power forever baby keep on pulling the knot out of them boties and the horns off them mopars l love it great video as always keep on doing the great work you do Evan
For sure! Ford Power!!! Love it
69-70 Mustangs also.
351 Cleveland, Bad Ass Motor. King of the SB engines. Not available in 69 though...
Happy Veteran's Day Mr. Hawk, keep kickin' ass.

I love that Carroll rides along for every pass. At least his signature does. What a great car.
EVAN YOU KEEP BRINGING BACK MEMORIES OF YORK US 30 DRAGSTRIP, FE MOTORS, 285, 385 SERIES ENGINES AND EVERYTHING ELSE! YOU'RE DOING GREAT EVAN!

I crawled and drooled all over that car at Houston way back in the mid 90’s!
Great work Evan.

This is inspiring for sure 👍. He's got his FE running 🏃♂️ , really well . Thanks Evan 😊
Great guy , fantastic car. Spent some time with him at MRI years ago . Super proud guy.
That's awesome Evan!
Another great car, thanks Evan. And thank you Mr. Hawk for your service to our country and sharing your car with us!
That thing sure launches clean. I wonder if Billy would donate the used oil for a line of flavored coffees.
Best comment ever!
Awesome! Love the NHRA stock eliminator rules allowances!
I wanted to learn why this 428 non CJ motor has solid not hydraulic lifters and 1 Holley instead of 2x4 bbls that came on GT 500’s for ‘67??

That’s a gorgeous car. The stance on those old drag cars is funny compared to these days.
Great guy and an amazing car! It amazes me how he can start and stop the car so many times so easily.
Old school. Nice
Seems like a really cool guy. The type of guy who can teach you a hell of lot.
Great interview Evan!
I remember him running at Old Dominion Speedway in the 1970s.
That is a badass mustang GT500 and it's worth big bucks specially with all that Carol signing the dash and all the pictures

I believe it's a lightened C-4 for max performance.
The oval on the perfect place of the oil pan!! 💙

Les turbo sont juste une invention genial qui permet de filait vite et bien surtout les charger turbo 👍

That Mustang just loves to pull wheelies!
I can’t seem to find that complete vin in the Shelby registry. Can anyone else?
Car 187 is in registry but it is reportedly in Norway. I asked if this is that car (returned from Norway) but no response from owner or Evan…Brian Styles weighed in and he is one of the 67 Shelby gurus … maybe this is a clone?

Carroll Shelby may be the greatest name in racing.
F#%kin hey nice car, good job on the video
Dove rockers?

Nothing beats the Factory super Stock.
Dam dude your docs always deliver , some of the best vids on the tube and they bring ya back !!
Nice work as usual 👍👍
Cool car
67 Fairlane 2door hardtop 428 top loader no one would drag race me
What is he running a 427 or a 428?
So best run??
I believe it's been 9.91 in A/SA.
Nasty
WHY DO HIS WHEELS COME OFF THE GROUND WHEN HE FLOORS IT? IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH HIS CAR IS IS IT JUST THE WAY HE DRIVES? AWSOME CAR!
Les années chelby du début sont aussi intéressante que les gordini du sorcier ca c était de l amour AUTO
Memories! Thanx!
SHOUT OUT TO "TEX MILLER" AND HIS 351C 72 MUSTANG AND TORINOS!
i love it..a shelby doing what it was built to do.not sit in a showroom.
Where's the spark plug trick ? Other than that, a good video.
Je le savais que l année 67 68 ford a tout casser avec chelby c est surtout c est boite qui m interresse 🙏😑🤲🇫🇷👉☝️
I’m gonna guess 560 rear gear especially with that wheelie
Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo jealous, lol!!
GT 500 Mustang big block?
Yes GT350 is the small block car, GT500 big block, KR is another story and Shelby also offered a Paxton supercharger for the GT350 but most people didn't get it, a few did.

You gonna' make this "super witty" comment every video now?
Which one would that be?
Jim Morrisons lost car
67 Shelby would be a 427.
Base engine and almost all '67 GT500's were 428s. I believe only the one 1967 Super Snake and maybe a few very early cars got the 427.
No factory installed 427, just 428s.

Worst thing about these sportsman racers. The god damn contingency stickers all over what could be a good looking car. Blah!
I hated putting them on my car but a win pays $300 per decal and that can mean upwards of a $5,000-10,000 pay day if you win.
@@revanevan I get it, just ugly lol
Too bad it has all those ugly stickers all over it
