    Michigan fan here I watch JJ play every single snap for the Michigan Wolverines that he had he’s awesome he’s smart. He’s fast he can throw but it’s gonna take him a minute to get used to the speed of the NFL and he will. He’s not a quitter, he will continue to progress and to get better at his craft Minnesota did a good job drafting him and I’m a lions fan and I’m worried about JJ because I’ve seen what he can do.

    Everything I saw him do in this game just looks familiar to me. This is what he does! You Vikings have same offense Harbaugh ran here in college. At the draft MULTIPLE scouts said when talking to prospects, UM's are 2 years ahead of the rest in their understanding of pro concepts. JJ is already showing that.
    Those gimmicky, Air-Raid, 55 passes/gm offenses in college are great for hollow stats vs lesser opponents, but barely translates (if at all) to NFL.

    Imo this was a rlly good debut, I think even better than Caleb Williams. I mean all Caleb rlly did was run out the pocket and throw. But JJ seemed to have rlly good pocket presence, look like he stayed cool, and also read the defense rlly well. I think he’s gonna maybe be better than Caleb.

    Darnold looked good as well. JJ was very impressive and I think he could start Week 1, but I also think it would be a season full of ups and downs if he did. Darnold should remain the starter until he loses the position during the regular season. Hopefully that doesn’t happen though because that would mean that we’re losing and I think a season on the bench would do wonders for McCarthy. Boring I know but I think it’s for the best long term.

    • @jeffmanty6721

      Sam Darnold has had a career of inconsistency. I think JJ is at least as good a Darnold. The difference, JJ has the “it” factor and is a proven winner his whole football life!

      @@jeffmanty6721 A career of inconsistency with the Jets and Panthers... such great teams right. Darnold was 20-4 coming out of college so idk what your point is about McCarthy being a proven winner. But no go ahead and throw McCarthy in too early when you absolutely don't need to. Also, people need to stop with the "it" factor shit. Sound cheesy as fuck.

      @tcplaya2882 "Too early" is meaningless bullshit. Real game experience is invaluable, what's the risk? Injury? I'm not going to worry about that. It's not like JJ is sitting behind Brett favre, he's sitting behind a bust. He already threw a pick and bounced right back, I'm not afraid of him crumbling under the pressure, he's confident. If he does, then he was never the guy anyway.

    I give him a B+. The game looked a little fast for him, but he settled down. The only way to get used to game speed is by playing. He made some really nice throws and had a couple of runs. Like you said, the Raiders have a legit defense. I don't think you could ask for anything more. Trishton Jackson at WR looked great as well. 4 rec, 100 yards, 1 TD.

    Anyone including the Vikings saying Sam is ready has another wake up call coming. I said Vikings would win 13 games under Kevin’s first year and the second year i said this is a 5 win team witch I was off a couple only because the defense was actually okay. This year if JJ starts, I predict a 14 win season!!! If Sam starts and plays the whole year, this is a 9-8 season. If let’s say JJ comes in by week 6. This will be a 11 win season. They need to start JJ if they want to win.

    McCarthy is coming along nicely. Now we all know that already, he could survive if thrown in, so the biggest takeaways for me are that they no longer need Mullens as insurance at QB2. The question is whether they can trade Mullens, and are happy to keep Hall as a PS project. I don't think Mullen's would clear waivers.

    • @jeffmanty6721
      @jeffmanty6721 29 дней назад +1

      “JJ McCarthy could survive if thrown in?” I think JJ would thrive if thrown in! He is special. Russel Wilson was a third round draft pick from Wisconsin. He started season one and he was a beast. He had a quarter back rating of 100 with 26 touchdowns including an 11-5 record his first year with a Superbowl ring in his third year. JJ‘s I believe is as good as Russell Wilson was. JJ has the “it” factor. I say start him in week one if he continues to impress and he will.

    • @robe2504
      @robe2504 29 дней назад +1

      @@jeffmanty6721 Sure, but that was a different situation. The Seahawks didn't have much choice and he clearly outplayed the other QBs in the pre-season There was even significant doubt whether Wilson would make it.
      KOC has a completely different decision. JJ is expected to become the franchise QB. Kwesi and KOC have been really, really, really clear that they have no intention of starting JJ until he's ready. They are very aware of how many young QBs have been thrown in prematurely and ruined or set back years. Darnold for example.
      KOC also knows that it is a completely different problem if they start JJ before he's ready and have to bench him, rather than being overly cautious and keeping him on the bench for a few weeks longer than necessary.
      What Kwesi and KOC have done is create a perfect situation where they don't have to hurry JJ. KOC has said all along that they have a detailed plan with structured checks that he has to pass.
      You can have whatever opinion you want but you are essentially arguing with KOC, and I don't think KOC gives a shit what you or I think.
      My comment stands. They now have verification that what they've seen in practice holds up at the basement NFL level against 2nd and 3rd stringers. He is above the trainwreck threshold, so they probably don't need Mullens any more.
      But Darnold is probably still clearly the better QB. So likely we'll all have to wait until Darnold starts losing, which might be a bit longer than some folks think.

    As a Michigan fan I was critical of two things from JJM at Michigan and thats that he didn't throw the deep much much if any at all that I remember. He also didn't have that soft touch pass when needed. Every pass doesn't require a fastball, sometimes you need a change up. He did surprise with the long balls yesterday thjough.

      @@treycavendish740 I'd ALMOST agree but Roman Wilson was killing it in Pittsburg until his injury, JJM too now.
      My personal observation is that I hope MICHIGAN can keep beating opps with a stout O-Line & running the ball OR we have to adapt to throwing & perhaps moreso...recruiting the dual threat QBs.
      That said enter the P10 teams who throw like to no end BUT might introduce a new element of football to the B10 never seen B4. Just my op-onion. I know it stinks but tastes good.

    Let's not get out over our skis here. He did not look so good against the second stringers, and he looked better against the third stringers. He needs some cooking before he is ready to start. The good was good. The bad was terrible. There was not much in between. He has a ways to go before he is ready to start. Darnold looked like he was in control. He had great command of the offense. He had great ball placement. It will take a lot for McCarthy to take the job away from Darnold, especially if the Vikes are winning. Turner is going to be a beast in this league. The corners were terrible. They cannot stop the run. They cannot run ball either. Long way to go.
