I think its like many things, if a company or the product become popular there are all sort of different experiences. Some are unfortunate, some are self harm and some are very happy. Poor experiences tend to get plastered all over social media while positive or happy experiences are more muted.
Looks like tons of fun! I converted one of my 2inch 2s toothpicks with 1002 motors to the same frame and X12 AIO flight controller but I've had terrible luck with happymodel electronics, specifically the X12 AIO. From a vtx that would change channels randomly every time I plugged in a battery, to blown esc's on two different boards. Till happymodel fixes their reliability issues I'm going to have to stay clear of them unfortunately.
One thing that really helps in AIO reliability is disarming very quickly when we crash. Having the props trying to spin while on the ground and props obstructed from spinning can burn the esc really quick.
2s makes a hella difference,I was surprised how quick & responsive it is. Mine came out of the box with a 45° camera tilt. I’m not used to it but I did enjoy that fast pace flying.🔥🤟
Have a few of the Happy Model small quads and looks like I need to add another. Thanks for another great review. My question is, it looks like you are using the HD Zero goggles for this analog feed. Have you done the latest firmware update on them? I have been waiting on this update, hearing the latest firmware is bad for analog use. Thanks.
Hola, ¿Qué rates usas?. Me cuesta ajustar mi mobula8 para que vuele bien, encuentro muy lentos mis rolls. Me gustaría saber tus rates para tener una idea de que hacer. Gracias desde Chile🇨🇱
Nick, while trying to change frames, three of the TINY motor screws were stuck and the screw heads broke off. How can I remove the remainder of the screw from the motor mounts?
I got one, afterwards. The props fit the motors too tight, tho'. I mangled 2 props and broke a motor trying to remove the props so I could bench-run the thing. Never had that issue with other press-fit prop/motor combinations. I got it flying really nicely, just the same. I'm waiting on a new motor. Such is the life of a fumble-fingers, but still - them props are too tight. For anyone who has a Caddx Turtle V2, I can tell you that the O3 frame fits it perfectly. It'll add about 23 grams to the AUW, but the drivetrain can easily handle it. I'm using Gemfan D51-5s - they really give the DVR a great ride. Not recommended for ripping, but for cinematic stuff. The motors come back nice and cold if you take it easy. The 1103s can handle it.
Awesome review as always Nick! Killer indoor flying!! Just checking, did you fly it in its stock configuration? Or updated it to ELRS V3? I glued down the red TPU on mine.
I did fly it stock. I have two radios one on elrs v2 and the other on elrs v3. I did use my rates, put the osd elements where I typically do and adjusted the battery warning voltage.
Happymodel, eh? A good name in my house. Looks like my daily driver's gonna get a little buddy in the near future. I got a really robust 100mm carbon x-frame with some 1.9" hoops I can transplant the components onto when that plastic whoop frame eventually fails.
Helooo gents.. JO you fly well.... something i always wondered ...first .. how do you know how quad is orientated especially if it further away from you and even doing yaw tricks...... secondly... will headless mode work in acro ?
These are fpv quqds. We were goggles to view the front/camera of the quad. These do not have headless mode. Headless mode is generally found on lower cost quads with less performance and no camera to view from.
Kind of a 2s mobeatle. Would like to see the hd option come with both frames. I like my mob7, bit have replaced the frame about 4 times now. Seeing that crash cracked it kinda turns me off of it. Hopefully replacements are reasonably priced.
Hi, thanks for this review Nick, so the same material as in Bassline, I find that the video quality of the DVR is really very good, what do you think ?
Great review Nick! Always like your reviews. I have a 2” 2s frame I designed and was curious if you could measure the outside diameter of the ducts when you get a second. I want to see if I can use the ducts or not on my current version of it. Really appreciate it!
Isn't the more important part the motor to motor dimensions? the outside will limit the prop to the 2inch category and to hold on the prop protection the motor mounting would need to line up.
@@NickBurnsFPV not really as I have a frame already cut and fitment will depend on the outer dimensions of the duct. I will be cutting the frame to use the duct only. I can also design the frame around the duct diameter. I’m thinking it will be around 58mm in diameter.
Hey Nick, Do you have a homepage or sth where you share your pid tunes? My Mob8 flies very poorly. I get propwash so fast. It can't even handle a small split S or sharper corners without starting to wobble. I have other happymodel quads and all of those were great straight out of the box. I just can't believe that it flies like this. Kinda feels sluggish aswell and my rates feel definitely slower on it. Hovering and cruising is very smooth so i don't think that i got a damaged unit. I can't find a single guide or video on how to improve the tuning, it seems like nobody did it. I tried it myself and followed instruction for a general whoop tune, but i just caused fly aways and now I'm a afraid to try it again
I don't have a website. when I review products I do not change the pid tune or filters. I believe in this video I discuss how the flight controller is sensitive to the tightness of the screws/nuts holding it. Try tinkering with that.... I do suggest re-applying the default pids and filters from the happymodel.cn website.
the mobula 8 really isn't indoor friendly unless you have a large space, even in our house it can be challenging to frustrating to fly inside. I think the mobula7 is a better fit for both indoor and outdoor.
Nice Review! I'm planning to buy this whoop as my first FPV drone, the controller I will be using is the tx16s and the googles I'll be using is the eachine EV800D, I still cant decide what receiver to pick for both the drone and controller, what do you recommend for me as a total beginner? the 4 in 1 or ELRS? It seems that the ELRS is hard to start as a beginner, and what does "SPI" frsky mean? Can I bind it with the 4 in 1 of the tx16s? And If I pick the ELRS I cant find a decent review of how to bind it, I can only understand the binding of the 4 in 1 but now Im not sure since I dont know the meaning of "SPI" frsky, Thanks In advance
all is amazing, but I dunno why in 2023, those FC's didn't have BB integrated. In my opinion this is an issue for who want to reach the best tune possible... I think that the Betafpv 85 frame is waaay durable than this...their frame r fantastic and they seem very resistant
Nick - sorta an unrelated question but what is the primary cause of prop wash on these whoops? I have a mob 7 HD zero that seems to have a lot more wash that my meteor 65 pro.. Weight? Thanks!
Probably weight I’m not super experienced or anything but from what I’ve noticed adding weight to these quads seems to make them washout more. You could try flashing bluejay might help?
🔥 Fantastic review & rip! Can you post this helpful info please: Goggle FW, Rapidfire FW and RF mode. A lot of owners, including myself are having issues with analog 😢
Help me to choose my 1st quad for outside only: meteor pro 75 vs Mobula 7 vs meteor 85 vs mobula 8. Mostly for dives and some flips. Analog only. Thanks!
I'm really surprised that there isn't more 3" ToothPick style BnF's available with the added weight of digital vtx's. I think 2s would be ideal on 3" as well.
So im wanna to get into fpv and stuff, and watching a lot of youtubers of this kind. And i have a question: did you have The Mansion because youre a fpv youtuber, or you are fpv youtuber because you have The Mansion? Because, you know, every popular fpv youtuber have a big property, just wondering.
Lol RUclips isn’t able to pay my bills. My wife and I both work. Bought the house 15 years ago. Started this channel 8 years ago. Real estate is cheap here in central US
This is much more capable of aggressive outside flight and more difficult for indoor flights. The 75 pro is going to be fairly challenging for inside flight too. Its not 75mm motor to motor and can produce more thrust over a traditional 75mm whoop.
@@parkour_dad I have broken the frame but not the posts on this one. It is common for me to break the posts on 75mm frames. I tend to resolve it by using longer screws that get all the way down to the main portion of the post mount.
@@KobtsevRC A mobula6 would be a good choice and is a better choice for smaller inside spaces, but still fairly capable of testing limits inside. 65mm is also more forgiving in throttle management.

Im one step closer to being back in the air now to get a quad i got some box goggles there old eachine and a beat up qx7 but they work lol and i still have some of my micro lipos from when i had to sell everything so im getting there. Thanks for sharing Nick
Hey Nick! I have been looking to get back into the quad game after a hiatus of ~7 years or so, but I have still been doing sims. I was wondering if you would recommend this quad, or a different one to someone who would be flying 95% outdoors (I'm in a condo). I don't look to do any crazy acro, just fun flying. I have a radiomaster tx12 and an older analog face-toaster for vrx. I would probably be looking to stay analog due to the price jump of digi. Curious to hear your thoughts! Thanks!
@@NickBurnsFPV I don't know that prop protection is a massive need. I have many green spaces around me that are as large as or larger than your yard. The immediate area around my condo is a bit tighter and more tree-y than your yard.
@@sethpark777 I think we should look at those without prop protection the flight time will be long and less likely to get hung up in a tree. The standard bassline ruclips.net/video/xhw6FVYP8ew/видео.html , larva x (older might be cheaper) ruclips.net/video/UGnubW9Hems/видео.html, flywoo baby nano 20 ruclips.net/video/pFNAmX2hWjk/видео.html the bluejay from Canadian rotorgeeks is also very good ruclips.net/video/6KtJpqkX4qs/видео.html for top mount battery option I would look at the older geprc phantom ruclips.net/video/pZjpg1K-IOE/видео.html
@@NickBurnsFPV I think it's a contest between the bluejay and the baseline. I think I prefer the camera on the bassline. But you may have an opinion on that. Also when it comes to my TX, should I just go ahead and get an elrs module for the tx12?
New sub here Nick, nice flying brother! Whats your opinion on this quad v the Meteor75 PRO as a first step into fpv for someone who will only fly outside?.....or would you recommend something entirely different? I know the Meteor is 1s and this is 2s, I'm more curious about the handling and the video quality between them. Thanks!
I think going 1s is good as the batteries are cheaper and the chargers are cheap too. Viflywhoopstor 3 is what I would recommend. The 75pro isn’t going to fly as well outside as something without prop protection. But the prop protection will help the motors not take as much damage as well as the rest of the quad. For starting out that is a good choice or even the mobula 7. I think the mobula7 will offer better video clarity but some don’t care for that camera. Take a look at both. Also try to buy from a local fpv reseller. If it arrives faulty local resellers are better about getting that sort of issue.
@@NickBurnsFPV thanks for the reply Nick, I've actually been looking at the Viflywhoopster 3 for 1s should I go that route. I've been in the rc hobby for 35+ years (mostly fixed wing LOS, never tried FPV outside of a DJI mini 2 se) and have chargers for most anything else. I'm leaning towards "flow" freestyle as my primary goal for fpv....just want to get the most "bang for my buck" without sacrificing performance (entry level of course) and video quality. I'm not tied to any brand, or even particular form factor....I'm open to most any sub 250g whoop, toothpick, etc....I just don't want to end up with something that I'll easily "outgrow" in a couple of months or with video so bad that I'll put it away and not fly. Edit to add: I'll likely be ordering from Race Day Quads, unless you have other recommendations.....I live in a very rural area with the closest resellers being over 2 hours away. Thanks again!
@@TheWingnut58 Seems as though you would most likely want to go with HD fpv. Its much more expensive but has much better image quality and video signal range/clarity. In micros I think the walksnail video system is likely to be a good fit. Do you happen to already have fpv goggles?
@@NickBurnsFPV I may eventually get to HD but I'm starting with Fatshark Scout box goggles because I got them barely used for a song.....and they work with my glasses. At this point I'm just kinda "toe dipping" to see if fpv is something I want to pursue. I have a Radiomaster Pocket arriving today and just minutes ago ordered a Mobula7, 6 batteries and a charger from RDQ.....I may have some questions for you on these little "wing spinners" so I don't hurt anyone...lol
I didn't measure the frame and no longer have the meteor85 to compare it to. Sorry, but I suspect as they are both 2inchers they would be very similar sized.
@nick burns would you happen to know if you tried to run the MOBULA 8 on 1s compared to 2s would it be too underpowered for indoors? I have and can run a Cetus x on 2s and that works wonderful. but looking to do some indoor flights camly and get the mobula 8 (it is already comming) but wondered how it will go on 1s and 2s? I know that they said that the mobula 8 can be run on 1s and 2s. but yes i agree the way you fly the 2s would be preferable for outside and more power.
@nick burns, thanks for all the great videos. Thanks for answering my questions. I just got the Modular’s 8,. It works really well on 1s for INDOORS. It is definitely not up to your standards, of ripping around the house on 1s, but it is much tamer than a Cetus x on 2s. So for just hovering or floating around the house for 5min on 1s, as a newbie, it’s awesome. Much tamer. But it does work. The 2S on CetusX or the mobula 8 are very energetic and I would say the mobula 8 wins out on 2s but you can fly both Cetus x and mobula 8 the same way outside on 2s. And while not the same you can compare them together like a accord and a Corolla of similar make and be a flair comparison on 2s. The mobula 8 which is nice for relaxing on 1s is doable for 4-ish minutes. It isn’t EXCITING, but that is what I was going for. Again thanks for all your help and all the reviews. I do IT as well so relaxing flying without excitement and drama is often what I am looking for to relax….
Love the review. Was thinking of picking this up and putting it on my 2" toothpick frame I have sitting around and make it a 2" backyard racer!!!! Keeping the whoop frame for cold days. As always sir... thank you for another great review!

Unfortunately I have to say maybe. Depends if the taranis has been firmware upgraded or not. A few years ago frsky rolled out a new firmware which broke compatibility with most of the spi or integrated frsky AIO receivers.
I think it's high time I learn about ELRS and slap a module on my radio since having to wonder if my radio will bind or not is something I'm not willing to put any time into anymore. Besides that ELRS is easier to bind and gives better range. Thanks Nick! 👍✈️
I think I would need to know if we are talking about cinewhoops that are made for slower flights with an external camera, or a more traditional whoop like this one where an external hd camera isn't the design intent.
@@NickBurnsFPV I should specify a little better. what’s in your opinion the most well rounded 2-3” cinewhoop that can hold an external hd camera? i bought a cineape after seeing your review and one of the motors are defective so i haven’t gotten any fly time on it yet. i’m starting to think i should go with another quad the cineape looks decent in terms of maneuverability and good durability but probably worse performing than like a cinelog 25
@@j.scarpa6201 Its stinks your cineape did arrive in working condition. Is DarwinFPV sending a new motor or working with you to get it running? The cinelog performs on par for the most part but the durability will be far less in my estimation. You’re by far my favorite quad youtuber and i look forward to your future content
In the videos it shows air mode. Air mode is a mode to keep the props spinning at all times, this allows for zero throttle moves and maintain control. In my videos you will find all flights are in acro mode with air mode on.
@@NickBurnsFPV Yes, you are right. In all your videos, I see the label AIR Mode. But I tried for two months flying only in AIR mode and it was awful.. Then I saw other RUclipsrs who flies very well on 1s or 2s Tynis and said that ACRO Mode is better, so I tried it. After just one batterie, I feel like I am in complete control of my drone. So that's why I made that question for you.. to know if you used it before or something like that.. Because in most cases, I always take all your advice that you tell me. Thanks for you answer..
@@hectorsaenz7599 From my reading of the reply I think there is confusion over air mode. air mode can be on regardless of if the quad is ALSO in angle mode, horizon mode or no other flight modes. Air mode only keeps the props spinning even at zero throttle. With out air mode on when a quad does a dive with zero throttle all control is lost. acro or rate mode is a mode when there is no stabilization from the flight controller in use. So to be in acro, angle and horizon mode must be off.
Mr Burns. Your indoor prowess with 2" is incredible. 2s, 2" I find challenging in these types if spaces.
Great flying

I think its like many things, if a company or the product become popular there are all sort of different experiences. Some are unfortunate, some are self harm and some are very happy. Poor experiences tend to get plastered all over social media while positive or happy experiences are more muted.

Nick you continue to improve on your flying skills! Insane indoor flight 😮
45degrees is high, speed racer high. I think I am closer to 30-35
Have a few of the Happy Model small quads and looks like I need to add another. Thanks for another great review. My question is, it looks like you are using the HD Zero goggles for this analog feed. Have you done the latest firmware update on them? I have been waiting on this update, hearing the latest firmware is bad for analog use. Thanks.
I haven't done the lates update to the hdzero goggles.

Your indoor flight was insanely good here 👍
Thank you. Most flight were largly filled with crashes, more power than I typically fly inside.
I was just about to buy a baseline and a betafpv 85 whoop frame! It's like happymodel read my mind 😅
Hello nick! Great flying and review as always. What would you choose between mobula 8 and bassline? And also planning to put a runcam thumb 4k v2
Awesome little quad indeed, Nick! Fantastic flying and review!!! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you
Nick!! What’s your favorite yard ripper that I could get in a hdzero version? This?? :)
Nick, while trying to change frames, three of the TINY motor screws were stuck and the screw heads broke off. How can I remove the remainder of the screw from the motor mounts?
Fly like you stole . As a new pilot, this helped alot on Mobula!
Great to see both you guys flying this new whoop around after seeing the frame on aliexpress a couple weeks ago.

Is it me or does that camera look great? Worthy successor to the Beta85Pro 2 (except for the fragile frame).

Nick, the 4Holes on the Mobula 8 Frame are most likely for Support and Balance, my. Q is how is This Quad compared to the Mobula 7 analog version?
The mobula7 is much much more indoor friendly. But the bassline/mobula8 is much much more capable outside.
Reminds me of the shutterbug85 from 4 years ago.1102 for sure would help
I am wondering from which device you have so crisp analog dvr Nick? 😁

Kind of a 2s mobeatle. Would like to see the hd option come with both frames. I like my mob7, bit have replaced the frame about 4 times now. Seeing that crash cracked it kinda turns me off of it. Hopefully replacements are reasonably priced.
I suspect the frame will be around $10, but that is just a guess. The bassline HD is out, I reviewed the walksnail version
Hi, thanks for this review Nick, so the same material as in Bassline, I find that the video quality of the DVR is really very good, what do you think ?
The HDZero google DVR is the market leader for sure.
Love the 2 inch 2s. went through many Betafpv 85. gonna get me one of these.
I really like the category as well. So small but yet very capable.
@@AGZFPV I get 145mm outer diagonal dimension.
Hey Nick,
Do you have a homepage or sth where you share your pid tunes?
I do suggest re-applying the default pids and filters from the happymodel.cn website.
should i buy the mobula 8 or the mobula 7 1s? i need a indoor and out door flyer... iv been flying for 2 years.
the mobula 8 really isn't indoor friendly unless you have a large space, even in our house it can be challenging to frustrating to fly inside. I think the mobula7 is a better fit for both indoor and outdoor.
@@NickBurnsFPV ok thanks so much!
Bassline or mobula 8

What is the exact size of the battery that fits perfectly?
Gnb450 mah 2s fits but a bit tight, I rotated the FC 90deg to avoid the battery bumping into Usb port.
You could try flashing bluejay might help?

for outside only the larger the prop and more cells in the battery the longer the flight and/or more performance. I would go with the mobula 8
Why don’t you fly 1s indoor? It’s 1 to 2s?
Because 2s delivers more thrust and is more fun and exciting.

Nice review. Can you compare the flight characteristics of this drone and Betaflight Meteor 75 Pro, which you also tested. Thanks.
This is much more capable of aggressive outside flight and more difficult for indoor flights. The 75 pro is going to be fairly challenging for inside flight too. Its not 75mm motor to motor and can produce more thrust over a traditional 75mm whoop.
@@NickBurnsFPV Thanks. I'm looking for a whoop to fly in the backyard and these two seem most interesting to me.

It is an inspiration to become better in FPV always that I watch your videos..!! ust I have one question.. AIR or ACRO mode for 1s and 2s drones...??
