    Excellent review - that looks like a really fun quad. As far as throttle management goes, I really like using the throttle scaling feature in Betaflight. I have that and several different rate combinations on a switch. My main flyer is a 4S, 3 1/2 inch. When I want to fly around my yard aggressively like you do, I put it on a 50% throttle limit and gentler rates. And it’s really nice because it gives you a lot more granularity in that throttle. Anyway keep up the great work Nick, love your videos!

      yep, scaling is an option, but new to the hobby folks would likely need help setting it.

    Very cool, the UZ85 was super popular so it should be a hit. I love 85mm whoops for flying around the neighbourhood as they are so non threatening and durable. Toothpicks are great but you can't really turtle them and they tend to pop ESCs. With the whoops you can just absolutely send them through gaps without stressing.
    Thanks for the review and awesome content as always mate.
    Cheers

      @@moralboundaries1 yeah with the props guarded it just "looks" less of a threat mate. The bonus of being able to send it through anything and bouncy off stuff, turtle is just fantastic.
      I do prefer the UZ85 frame though as I feel it would be more durable and only slightly more weight.

      I highly suggest prop popper if you can catch it in stock. I bent a 0702 shaft getting some stubborn props off and now test fit and if they are too tight, if so I drill out some material before completely pressing them down onto shaft.

    • @BendApparatus
      @BendApparatus Год назад

      @@ChrisHarmon1 I never had any luck with any proptool...not even the Gemfan locket.
      What I do is use some M2 7 or 8mm screws. I thread them in just enough that they're locked into the bell holes and use the edge of a stable flat surface (the flat of the edge the actual edge) and flip the quad upside down and push the prop from the bottom using the screws as leverage.
      It's hard to describe and doesn't work on whoopframes (which I hate and don't use)...
      But if you do use w-frames then take a look at the Gemfan locket...🤷🏻‍♂️😅
      Which of course only works on T mount props...🤦🏻‍♂️

    I wish they had gone with something closer to the UZ85, which was a rebrand of their products. The only problem with the UZ85 was the frame broke far too easily. This is basically a copy of the BetaFPV 85 which was a copy of MrShutterbug's formula. The frame MrShutterbug used was kind of heavy which pushed him into a higher KV. That BetaFPV 85mm frame is an absolute tank though, hopefully this is as good. I feel like there was a compromise there that they didn't try to reach with weight and durability.

    Looks like tons of fun! I converted one of my 2inch 2s toothpicks with 1002 motors to the same frame and X12 AIO flight controller but I've had terrible luck with happymodel electronics, specifically the X12 AIO. From a vtx that would change channels randomly every time I plugged in a battery, to blown esc's on two different boards. Till happymodel fixes their reliability issues I'm going to have to stay clear of them unfortunately.

    • @NickBurnsFPV
      @NickBurnsFPV  Год назад +1

      One thing that really helps in AIO reliability is disarming very quickly when we crash. Having the props trying to spin while on the ground and props obstructed from spinning can burn the esc really quick.

    Hey Nick,
    Do you have a homepage or sth where you share your pid tunes?
    My Mob8 flies very poorly. I get propwash so fast. It can't even handle a small split S or sharper corners without starting to wobble. I have other happymodel quads and all of those were great straight out of the box. I just can't believe that it flies like this. Kinda feels sluggish aswell and my rates feel definitely slower on it. Hovering and cruising is very smooth so i don't think that i got a damaged unit.
    I can't find a single guide or video on how to improve the tuning, it seems like nobody did it. I tried it myself and followed instruction for a general whoop tune, but i just caused fly aways and now I'm a afraid to try it again

    • @NickBurnsFPV
      @NickBurnsFPV  7 месяцев назад

      I don't have a website. when I review products I do not change the pid tune or filters. I believe in this video I discuss how the flight controller is sensitive to the tightness of the screws/nuts holding it. Try tinkering with that.... I do suggest re-applying the default pids and filters from the happymodel.cn website.

Never had that issue with other press-fit prop/motor combinations. I got it flying really nicely, just the same. I'm waiting on a new motor. Such is the life of a fumble-fingers, but still - them props are too tight.
    For anyone who has a Caddx Turtle V2, I can tell you that the O3 frame fits it perfectly. It'll add about 23 grams to the AUW, but the drivetrain can easily handle it. I'm using Gemfan D51-5s - they really give the DVR a great ride. Not recommended for ripping, but for cinematic stuff. The motors come back nice and cold if you take it easy. The 1103s can handle it.

      @nick burns, thanks for all the great videos. Thanks for answering my questions. I just got the Modular’s 8,. It works really well on 1s for INDOORS. It is definitely not up to your standards, of ripping around the house on 1s, but it is much tamer than a Cetus x on 2s. So for just hovering or floating around the house for 5min on 1s, as a newbie, it’s awesome. Much tamer. But it does work. The 2S on CetusX or the mobula 8 are very energetic and I would say the mobula 8 wins out on 2s but you can fly both Cetus x and mobula 8 the same way outside on 2s. And while not the same you can compare them together like a accord and a Corolla of similar make and be a flair comparison on 2s. The mobula 8 which is nice for relaxing on 1s is doable for 4-ish minutes. It isn’t EXCITING, but that is what I was going for. Again thanks for all your help and all the reviews. I do IT as well so relaxing flying without excitement and drama is often what I am looking for to relax….

But I'm stuck on the batteries. let me just make sure i understand this right. A 450mAh 2c battery puts out twice the voltage as the 1c 450mAh. So this drone, The Mobula 8 can run on two different voltages. Correct? And there is nothing to do when switching voltages?

    • @NickBurnsFPV
      @NickBurnsFPV  Год назад

      @@frogsoda I believe you mean betaflight? Betaflight is the common software installed on flight controllers for fpv drones. No worries being new. I started with toy drones as well, syma x5c was my first.
      About the batteries and quads. Your correct on 2s vs 1s and the voltage (note the s). But not correct on the drone, while its possible for a quad to be able to use different voltage/cell (S) batteries generally speaking they are designed for one voltage of battery. The kv of the motor will often dictate the voltage of battery to us. If we have a 10000kv motor it would only reach 5000kv on a 1s battery vs reaching the full 10000kv on 2s. So while it might be able to use a 1s battery it likely won't fit the battery tray (in this case it surely won't) and it might not generate enough thrust to fly on 1s or it might not fly very well or for very long on 1s batteries. hope that helps.

      I think going 1s is good as the batteries are cheaper and the chargers are cheap too. Viflywhoopstor 3 is what I would recommend. The 75pro isn’t going to fly as well outside as something without prop protection. But the prop protection will help the motors not take as much damage as well as the rest of the quad. For starting out that is a good choice or even the mobula 7. I think the mobula7 will offer better video clarity but some don’t care for that camera. Take a look at both. Also try to buy from a local fpv reseller. If it arrives faulty local resellers are better about getting that sort of issue.

    So im wanna to get into fpv and stuff, and watching a lot of youtubers of this kind. And i have a question: did you have The Mansion because youre a fpv youtuber, or you are fpv youtuber because you have The Mansion?
    Because, you know, every popular fpv youtuber have a big property, just wondering.

      Its been a good long while since I have flown the tinyhawk freestyle 2. In my memory I think this flies better more aggressively.
