We toured Barbe High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Barbe is a PUBLIC school with under 2,000 students, yet has dominated the high school baseball scene - accumulating 12 State Championships and 4 National Championships almost all within the last 20 years. They finished last season ranked 3rd in the country with a 39-1 record and a State Championship victory.

I played at Barbe from 96-99 ( Im also in the college pictures and pro ball pictures on the wall in the video). We dressed in the parking lot while I played there but were ranked #1 in the nation my senior year. Coach C is exactly as he comes across. Barbe's success is not about the facilites, the uniforms, or the amenities. Its Coach C. The passion and love he has for the game and his players (while they are there and after they leave) is the special sauce. I love that man like a father. He truly teaches you how to win at baseball and win in life!
We play them every year that coach has energy and I love playing them finally beat them after 3 years of playing against them.
This is the best way to put it, I graduated in 2020, and he still treats me as if I’m one of his own! I’m still playing thankfully, and he would do anything to make sure that I’m taken care of when I need to put in the extra work etc. when I’m home!

This is the perfect example of a coach that coaches the right way. It’s not about winning in baseball but winning in life and the coach teaches his team that
I’m not denying he’s a solid guy but he’s intense and you can tell. He’s playing nice for the cameras but I’m absolutely certain he’s a hardcore coach with his players.

@@titoslounge1946I played for him, and went on to and currently in college, he is tough on you, but he will immediately be behind you to be better, one of the best coaches I’ve ever had and seen
He’s about winning and publicity. I went to school there when he was coaching. I’ve had family and friends play for him. Smoke and mirrors.
@@redrum5234 I’ve actually played for him, and he brings out the most of you that you have to give. He’s one of the best coaches I’ve ever had. You have to have been in the program to speak on it. Yes he’s about winning, but he puts you as a player first. You just have to want it as much as he does. No favoritism in there, I promise you that.
This Facility is much better than 80% of D1 facilities; even the stadium seating exceeds many top 30 programs. The Coach with all of his supporters has built a Dynasty and the fact that he continues to add on every year is just amazing.
My son plays for Stoneman Douglas and are super excited to have lights on the field. This place is insane! These kids have no excuse to not be phenomenal, everything is right there for them. Great vid

I‘m from germany and Baseball is not even a thing in my country but i love from all my heart US sports and it always blows my mind when i see how much passionate even schools are with their sports. If i would be born in America I think i‘d be in paradise but my home is still my home and i‘m glad that young students already have access to facilities like this be always grateful for that!

I met Coach Dan up in New York. MLB flew my out for the 2015 World Series.l for 2015 Cincinnati RBI Reds POY. He was the Coach for the USA high school team. Man that man is just full of energy

Another great tour....the fact that this is a High School is insane. I wish here in the UK we invested as much into sports at schools as I would have been far more excited about sports at a younger age

Respect this man big time. I assume he’s definitely not rich being a high school coach and this is a prime example of things far more important in life than money. This man has a lot less material things, but has such a larger impact on this planet and has effected so many lives. He has done far more than most people could do with millions of dollars. This is what a role model looks like people, not some clown on TV who makes millions or a silly influencer with no life skills

Y’all’s see Barbe, but it starts with Little League and Babe Ruth in the Lake Charles area. South Lake Charles Little League, Mid City Little League, Iowa, Sulphur, Westlake Little Leagues, and Moss Bluff Babe Ruth all produce so many great players. Most of the high schools in the area benefit from the youth/Legion/travel ball leagues.
Yea they don't even know about Bullet Baseball 😂 a lake Charles little league team that has a facility indoor cages all that😊

I went there as a student and u should see the actual high school lol. U can see where they place theyr priorities
this is a bunch of bs, i go here and they put so much funding into baseball yet the school is literally falling apart, there are rats and roaches everywhere, half of the buildings air conditioning breaks every other day, constant fights, we literally had a tornado pass through town today and kids were stuck in busses through it because the couldn’t tell kids not to come or just delay school, it isnt fair to the students who are trying to learn in classrooms when they are getting worse and worse each day.
Whereas most other cases of schools deeming poor maintenance of academic facilities an acceptable price to pay to keep a sports team in operation do so for football, Barbe does it for baseball...

Private funds for a club or team aren’t raised to update class rooms. If you want that done have people complain to the school board.
As a Sulphur High Grad, Coach C ate our lunch in baseball.

I love that it is a natural grass playing surface. So many High Schools are pushing to turf and it is just not safe for kids or adults. For those that will come back and say no its not, look at every professional sport, unless they are in an indoor stadium without a retractable roof or a playing surface that can come out of the stadium (Arizona Cardinals), it is grass because no turf gives like grass and instead of giving turf will catch and cause terrible injuries at all levels of play.
up north you almost have to have turf because you will most likely get rained out more likely than not
@@jensenwerner590 nah with proper drainage and a grounds crew that knows what they are doing you can play. I’ve been in situations with a whole little league park in knee deep water at noon and playing games at 6 , in Texas .
@@jensenwerner590 turf is extremely dangerous, most places that rely on turf are places where people are constantly on the fields 7 days a week as that is not good for a nice grass field, or those who are lazy and don’t want to do the work or pay for it to be maintained.

You can tell this guys has pictures of everything on his phone and shows everyone he meets at the grocery store how cool he and his school are

I just graduated from barbe last year and the actual school has leaking ceilings and open panels on some of the walls and is just overall lacking but I had no idea our baseball facilities were like that, kind of annoying

11 minute video is all it took to understand how Coach Cecchini has built a public school into a national powerhouse. Type of coach you talk to 25 years after you graduate and type of coach that cares just much about his players personal life as he does baseball.
I went to kinder high about 30 minutes away from Barbe they're a powerhouse in our area!!
This is what you build when you are trying to recruit players. And I absolutely am here for it.

Im from England and over here only few schools support sports programmes, most schools you just have to go and do whatever physical activity they tell you to do or you don’t do it, for us to play football (soccer) we have to do this outside of school time in our own time with a local team, think it’s really cool that in America they take sports really seriously and have entire buildings like this just dedicated to one sport.

This was my HS. Yes, the facility is beautiful. For the real story, talk to some of the players past and present - it’s not all rainbows and butterflies. The intense pressure put on the parents and kids is insane. “Raised”…. maybe strong-armed is a better description.
Yea we had to pay for alot of stuff to stay active each week. Those flyers was mandatory yu had to get a business to buy a flyer.😂
