    I love your Kilimanjaro paper. The 300 pound paper is fantastic. I prefer the bright white paper version but the natural white is also nice. Your Kilimanjaro sketchbooks are my absolute favorite. I just posted a review about them on my channel ("the BEST sketchbook no one is talking about"). So underrated, and I love that the first page of the 140 lb paintbooks are now stocked with 1 sheet of 300 lb paper as a coversheet, plus the 75 lb interwoven sketch sheets are an added bonus for note taking, pencil sketches, value sketches, etc. Genuis!

    Julie- I LOVE THIS! I've been taking the details of blooms in my water color and following the bloom edges with micron pens and it is so theraputic and a peacefilled process. I love how it turns out. THIS inspires me to move into enhancing the blooms- which I LOVE! Thank you so much.

    I rarely like abstract art - maybe due to being primarily a paper crafter - and even more rarely like abstract watercolor. I appear to have been looking at the wrong abstract watercolor art because I absolutely love your painting! Makes me want to rush out and buy all the supplies you used, despite being a total newbie at watercolors.

    I bought some 300 lb Kilimanjaro sheets in October for the first time. I made a painting that I wasn’t too happy with so I flipped over the sheet and made a different painting. Worked out great. There’s not many watercolor papers you can do that to. I plan to buy some more.

      This is a graphite drawing of Danny Wagner, drummer from the band Greta Van Fleet. I love the band but I am partial to him in particular. I have been doing a series of works of him since the first lockdown. That one is just a larger work that I recently completed.

    Well I learned that Kilimanjaro watercolor paper is made in Italy by none other than Fabriano Artistico. I know this because I purchased Fabriano Artistico 140lb paper and some of the sheets are watermarked as Kilimanjaro. The issue is that in all honesty there are not many professional watercolor paper manufacturers. Over the years some companies have changed. Many are surprised to know this but the process of making such quality hasn’t changed much in hundreds of years but some are trying to use more renewable sources like agave or bamboo and vegan sizing but the main manufacturers are in Europe. Hope that this information helps in saving a bit of money also.

    Hi Julie, This doesn't have anything to do with Kilmanjaro paper but I have a question for you. Could you do a Art Tip on how to use Winsor & Newton Watercolor Blending Medium? Should I dip my brush into the Medium and then the paint or should I pour the medium into my water and if so how much Medium to how much water? Thank you.

    • @juliedavis8957
      @juliedavis8957 2 года назад +1

      Hey Carol… straight from W&N… see below their instructions.
      ** For maximum blending time, mix the medium directly with watercolour. Alternatively, you can apply the medium directly to the paper in preparation for the watercolour. Dilution with water will produce a range of blending and drying times. Drying rates will vary and depend on temperature and air flow. **
      Hope that this helps! Thanks! 😃 Julie

    Hi Jules!
    I'm Denise and I'm a silk artist.
    I use salt on some of my silk work.
    One of the things I like to do is keep the salt that I've already used. I keep certain colors with each other, kind of how one would keep pastels together in color groups (I was a pastelist once). When I'm creating another painting I will take some of the salt that has the other colors and put some in the new painting. By using these other "salt colors" my new creation takes on a surprising look! The "salt colors" give a different look with pops of colors that are unexpected. I hope you try it!
    Bye 😁

      The brand seems to be a non thing. I tried to look it up for you to find a source. Seems like the most relevant info is that it is flake salt. It really is almost raw. Huge flakes and pieces. I was able to find sources thru cooking outlets. Good luck! Thanks for watching! 😉 Julie

    I often hesitate to play because I don’t want to “waste” expensive supplies but how can I learn if I don’t practice on the real thing? Joe has an old video showing how he uses a window to find a bit he can use for a card or small painting. I’m trying to give myself permission to experiment and if it’s not great art, at least it can be a note card.
