- Join me plein air painting in Myall Lakes National Park NSW. We get pretty close to a goanna in this one. This painting is oil paint on a plywood board, I used a combination of brushes and pallet knives to create it. Thanks for watching, please be sure to give it a like and subscribe to my channel and feel free to drop a comment.
Both the tree and the water are beautiful. Far more entertaining than anything on tv !
Thanks Hamish 😊 I'm very pleased with this one. Yeah I haven't watched tv for years, I wish they'd make a tv show out of what I do 🤣 it would be so much fun!
Incredible Kate, well done.
Thank you so much Tania 🥰
I moored my boat right exactly where you are, right next to that tree, a decade ago. A beautiful spot that I've always remembered.
Oh wow that's pretty cool that it's the exact same spot!
Good job Kate.
Thank you 😊
that would scare the willies out of me....wonderful painting, especially under a pending goanna drop.
Hahaha 😂 I am glad he didn't drop. Thank you so much!!
♥️🌼♥️🌼♥️🌼♥️
Thank you 😊
Can see why this would be one of your favorites. The tree is fabulous, but when you zoomed in on some details of the rest, I think you did a great job overall! When I’ve been out shooting wildlife photos I’ve had squirrels dropping things on me - think I’d freak out over something like that over my head! 😊 ❤❤
Thank you 😊 hahaha 😂 we don't have squirrels here, but possums are cheeky like that, dropping stuff on people.... But I haven't had any possum encounters while painting. I was only a little nervous when it started stepping on the tiny branches that looked like they wouldn't hold its weight but somehow it didn't fall 😊
Watched you paint and I learned about goannas. Here's a line from Wikipedia that stood out to me: "Alarmed goannas can mistake standing humans for trees and attempt to climb them to safety, which is painful and can be distressing for both human and goanna."
😂😂😂😂😂 hahaha oh praise the Lord that didn't happen 🤣 great info
If there's a prize to be given out for overcoming huge distractions while painting amazing pieces, I think you'd be in the running for it. You captured both the scene and that wildly detailed tree beautifully, and it really pops against that gorgeous mellow background. Any chance you'll be painting a pic from your impromptu lizard photo?
Awww thank you 😊 .... I think that may have been why I took 6 hours instead of 5 😂 I was very distracted. Eventually, I might do a studio painting of a goanna but probably not using this particular photo, maybe a slightly less complex angle I have a lot of photos I've taken of goannas, they have beautiful markings. But if I do it will be a winter job as while the weather is great I will be outdoors 😊
4:44 already looks awesome, if i were you i would wonder if its not the moment to maybe keep it like it is, to me it looks so great the cloudy atmosphere, everything is tied together so well. But overall finished painting looks great aswell :) this iguana on a tree haha. good stuff. its the cool stuff about plein airs, for me it were birds, but on the last plein air i had like toads/frogs doing that sounds xd and a mouse climbing up my leg lol
I definitely did think of leaving it around this stage because if the tree hadn't worked out it would have been the point of no return, however I am really glad I put the tree in 😊 goanna... We don't have iguanas. Oh my goodness 🤣 a mouse climbed your leg while you were painting?! 😱
@@Kate_Bonnie yea it was weird, i had trousers and i felt somethings climbing up my leg and i was like, what the heck? it was already on my knee so i shook it off and it ran away :D no idea what it was thinking. maybe i was standing still in one place so long that this cutie thought im some kind of wierd tree or whatever. goanna. nice ill remember
@@Michal_Kuras hahaha 😂 that is hilarious 😂
Love your work, just seen ya painting now!
Thank you 😊 I just finished the painting you saw me working on 🖌️ 🎨
