I found it much easier to not remove all of that. Removed the wheel bearing, one bolt from the bottom shock mount and it comes out, it's not difficult to remove that way. Wheel bearing removed gives it enough room to clear down from the differential side and just maneuver it out. I changed one on a 2012 Escalade today. I watched this video, looking for a wheel bearing torque, didn't see why it had to be taken that far apart, so I tried it the way I described. Worked well, and it was fast.
For anyone looking to do this just remove the strut via the 2 bolts on the lower control arm and push it to the side and remove the cv axle no need to do as he did....
Good time to consider strut replacement. Three years ago my brother, stepson and I rebuilt the _entire_ front suspension on an '08 GMC Yukon Denali. Naturally, it was outdoors because the garage was 'congested'. It was also below freezing most of the time we worked on it. We could only stay outside until 3:30 PM because once the sun went behind the trees/houses, it really got cold. Also, the bolts for the suspension arms were fused to the inner bushing sleeves all around. We finally found reciprocating saw blades that could actually cut those bolts off. I had the luxury of time to complete the job. A little over two weeks from start to finish because we took off for Christmas Day and New Year's Day. This 'exercise' was a real character builder and it was very satisfying to do the work ourselves.
Serious question my new cv axle didn't come with a new washer for the spindle nut I also noticed You didn't put a washer on just the new nut as did I but I was almost thinking I should have used the old washer???? Any idea thanks in advance I appreciate it
Buyer Beware TRQ part coming from 1A Auto are damaged and getting replacement sure easy but they only send you another damaged part. TRQ is ZERO help they Don't care save time and don't buy TRQ. These people won't even pick up a phone. P.S. even after you ask and give them your phone number. TRQ is a company without phones it appears. Wish I new before buying.

Hi what is the torque spec for the cv axel bolts back to the front differential? Thank you
If your cv is bad but still functional will it wear out the inside lip of your front tire?

@@TRQ I think the new one had one built on the nut you just used the not without the old washer correct??
+Daniel Haller That is correct!
