    Great race after what sounds like a difficult off-season! I really enjoy your content: pre, during and post. It really gives a great feel for the experience. I'm sure it takes a lot of time and effort to produce this type of content but it feels really genuine, not over produced. Thank you very much and I wish you all the best (from a Minnesotan)!

    Great footage and editing - Definitely captured the craziness! Glad I wasn't the only one with the "wrong" tires ... It was slippery AF out there and I've never seen so many crashes in one section of a race as happened on the whoops. The Utah course set up sounds sweet for Round 2 of the TC. Best of luck on back to back podium finishes in '23 and '24 and stoked for that recap vid as well!

    Great new kit! I’m a bit bummed that the organisation didn’t go over the route and fix the super dangerous sections. How hard can it be? Those ended several riders race In sure. Also that finish, super dodgy!… if you get caught in the final kilometre’s, don’t attack, sit on and leave it all for the finish. When you went early… I thought no.. 2 vs 1, they going to come back and punish you!( some road racing wisdom gained over two decades..) LOL. Oh I just saw Picock throw away Milan San Remo for the exact
    Same thing! You deserved that 13th.Glad your form is at a competitive level. Nice start to the season and some good opportunities to test the technical skills. Look forward to the next. Appreciate the good edit and footage.

    Really excellent video! Thanks for sharing your experience and insights. I can definitely see that a Pirelli M on the front would have made a difference. It does really well in those sand-over-hardpack conditions. Unless you were struggling with tire-spin issues on the rear, however, the H is still probably the right call (IMO). Keep, rocking, Joe! I hope to see you at BWR Cali in April.

    Thank you for the fantastic video. I've never raced a bike however I've done a lot of ultra running, especially in the McDowells. I'm so familiar with all the rocky skree that litters the trails and it's easy to wash out on that stuff. I think you handled it like a pro. I'm curious though...you were tailing a rider at about the 16 minute mark and you wanted to get around them to catch up with the lead pack. In running, we just announce we're passing you and you kind of just let someone go around you. Is it the same in cycling? With everyone packed so tight at times, do you ever find yourself throwing an elbow, or getting shoved by another rider? This was the first time I discovered so, so I hit that subscribe button to watch some more videos.

    1x guy here…… for Sram 1x, I use a ceramicspeed OSPW. it’s zero gains watts wise, I don’t care who tells you otherwise….. however the gain is spring tension options. Which there are three. Worth the expense. Even on the MTB mullet setup if you went that way. But Especially on a regular or xplor Sram rear derrerrrrrer. Hope that helps 1by Sram peeps.

      @jgoettl2.0  7 месяцев назад +1

      I’m planning on these same exact tires I ran here! I’ve allways ran 40’s in Utah, but these 45’s felt much smoother and they are also the tires Brenden Johnston won with last year. It will be nice to have for the last singletrack when your tired and sore and trying not to flat as well!

      @@jgoettl2.0 thanks Joe! I had the Specialized Pathfinders and also kept sliding out. You think Utah you’re better off with some more traction?

    • @jgoettl2.0
      @jgoettl2.0  7 месяцев назад

      @@TJA-AZ I think you’ll be ok with the pathfinders! It’s not as slippery on the mtb trail there, a bit more rocky so extra volume is nice, but I believe they are removing the middle section of singletrack that was new last year, so 40’s would be ok, but if you’ve got 45’s that’s what I’d reccomend (depending on if they keep the course about the same as previous years!

    How do the speedplay pedals handle dust/dirt? I've read they are not gravel friendly! Looking to lighten my setup for BWR CA and convert SPD/MTB setup to road shoes/pedals.

    • @jgoettl2.0
      @jgoettl2.0  7 месяцев назад +1

      They are totally fine as long as it’s not wet, any kind of mud and they will clog up making it hard to clip back in and get out of them. I hit some mud last year in calli and had some issues for just one small part of the course. Always be sure to lube them up before your race and now and again in training! Main reason I use them is they are a more stable platform and easier on my knees with the extra float!

    What was the tire consensus for these courses? Coming from Pathfinders last year to Cintuarato H’s this year. Most of my riding is straight hardback gravel - minimal sandy and loose over hard

      Just this one I’d recommend more tread, gravel m’s from Pirelli in 45 is what I’ll do next year most likely! 90% of the rest of races I’ll run the h’s, BWR cali I will run somthing similar to the path finder with a slick in the middle and probably a 40c since I’m 172lbs. I ran 35’s last year in cali and i think 40’s would feel better
