Directed and written by Edward Neumeier and staring Casper Van Dien as Johnny Rico, Jolene Blalock as Captain Lola Beck, Stephen Hogan as Sky Marshal Omar Anoke, Amanda Donohoe as Admiral Enolo Phid, Marnette Patterson as Holly Little and Boris Kodjoe as Gen. Another thing that hit hard for me. When the fighting started, the troopers were being corralled like animals. Where what looked to be a few dozen troopers thrown into a slaughter house, Rico appears and fights back a tide with just 10. Rico knows how to whip 'em into shape.

    You’d think that the Federation would build walls rather than electrified fencing and they would’ve already invested in some mechanized infantry and some armor

    • @wisewisdomtooth
      @wisewisdomtooth 3 года назад +9

      Well for 1 the bugs can easily climb walls, for two electrified fences are maybe the easiest to maintain and fastest to produce, it would make more sense to produce mech units of some sort but remember how agile the bugs are and if the mech unit gets overrun it's a very expensive loss

      From what I understand the infantry from the books, the source material, wear starcraft/halo esque armor. So they basically fulfill those roles, as for the movies who knows. Easier to kill your expendable population if they are under equiped.

    • @paytonkraft2674

      What good would walls do against creatures that can burrow and climb? Also, you're severely overestimating the federation's ability to prioritize r&d.

      In the first film at least I think the Federation deliberately underequipped its armed forces to make the Arachnids more menacing to encourage more people to sign up, because an outside threat is good for propaganda.

    It's interesting how the bugs can overcome panicked soldiers; once the group breaks, they just fall apart.
    But once the Troopers organise into a line, they're a killing machine.
