      Heyman is just working everyone & there's proof. Watch the finish to the Lesnar vs. Orton Summerslam 2016 match where a rogue Lesnar goes off-script just because he can & delivers those stiff elbows to Orton that give him color. It plays out in the same manner as Heyman is claiming the Mania 30 match may have happened, with the only exception being Orton didn't have an illustrious streak like Taker had. The purpose for doing this stuff was to boost the perception that Heyman's Real Life Client, Brock Lesnar, was still more than capable of making another legitimate run to the top of the UFC. Unfortunately those dreams ended up in the exact spot where Lesnar wishes his steriod-tainted pee ended up, The Toilet.

  • @foakleys
    @foakleys 4 года назад +17

    Literally re-watched the match and then came back and watched this. My reasoning behind it NOT being what Heyman is proposing here:
    1) The 3 count. It was fast. There was no hesitation by the ref.
    2) The work they did in that match doesn't quite match up to how tired they were. The match itself was really short, all things considered, and super basic. I'm sure Taker did have to go to the hospital because something happened early where he all of a sudden couldn't help Lesner. You see it with his German suplex. The first one he does at the beginning of the match, no problem. But the chain of 2 Lesner does on him towards the end were rough. He landed on top of Lesner after the first one, and the 2nd wasn't much better. He also potato'd the last F5.
    3) Lesner did not look like he pulled one over at the end. He's selling the victory as the conquering hero, not as Brock Lesner who pulled a fast one.
    This is some MASTERFUL storytelling by Heyman, but I think it's just that. Story telling.

    • @MinimiMax
      @MinimiMax 4 года назад

      Good points except for the first one. The referee doesn't always know who's gonna win the match and from what I've heard that was the case with this match. They are supposed to call the match as if it was real, enforce the rules and count the pins unless they know that it's gonna be a kick out.

    • @k1productions87
      @k1productions87 4 года назад +1

      @@MinimiMax Yes. That was birthed by (among other things) the Hardcore Battle Royal fuckup at Wrestlemania 2000. It just looks bad when the referee is so focused on who is going to win that they get caught with their pants down either clearly stopping a count when they aren't supposed to, or stutter stepping so bad you could clearly see it was a fuckup.
      So... imagine you were the referee on that night, calling it like a shoot, and yet thinking "I am doing my job the way I was instructed.... but holy shit, I just fucked up THE STREAK!"

    • @AzureRoxe
      @AzureRoxe 2 года назад

      There's actually never any hesitation by the refs when it comes to Taker, Taker himself has mentioned that he tells the ref to count to 3 or count him out if he legit can't get back in time.
      So if he were to legit get hurt or something happens that prevents him from stopping a count, he would've lost the streak for real. He's also mentioned that he really wanted to end the streak many years before Lesnar ended it, but the people chosen for it kept refusing out of respect, so it makes sense that he'd be alright with it being lost that way.

      I agree. He definitely felt obligated towards The Undertaker. If you haven't watched it, look for "Where were you when the streak ended." video on RUclips. The reaction of Brock and Heyman says it all. Brock doesn't care for the business, but he definitely appreciates The Undertaker for putting him over multiple times.

      But he has a point, not talking about the Lesnar situation though.
      Just think about it for an example what if CM Punk did that vs the undertaker ? if punk did that will they be able to fire him ? he was the biggest money attraction of the company at that time and even without doing it he forced the company to push him with the pipebomb.
      what Heyman is trying to say is what if a superstar decided to go off the script and was so successful that he becomes untouchable ?

    If Taker wasn't supposed to lose, we would know.
    Vince would have lost his shit, so would Taker.
    And Taker is basically retired now, he does interviews and doesn't owe the company anything. He'd say if things had fucked up that night, and he never has.
    Taker took a year out because he was past it. He wasn't exactly in great shape for that match anyway.
    Heyman is obviously in character here. Look, Brock is tough, but he's not the only trained fighter in WWE. He also retired from UFC because he got injured. Taker is a 300lb man who is 6'10, he could beat the hell out of Brock legit if he felt like doing it. Or at least put up enough of a fight that Brock wouldn't be able to dominate him.

    • @josephdurnin7698
      @josephdurnin7698 4 года назад +2

      Brock and Lashley are the only trained fighters on the roster I think. As in people who have a professional record in any form of combat sports. There's guys like Gable and Benjamin with considerable amateur wrestling pedigree and Corbin supposedly has Golden Gloves level Boxing.
      Lesnar runs through all of them though, a near 50 year old Taker with a boatload of injuries in the bag would get seriously hurt by Lesnar, I'm not sure what you've seen to even think that Taker has a chance against Lesnar in a real fight.

    • @ChildOfTheWilderness
      @ChildOfTheWilderness 4 года назад +1

      @@josephdurnin7698 Taker's age and injuries are a factor now sure.
      But the idea Brock can simply dominate 300lb near 7ft men with at least some degree of boxing & MMA training is buying into the hype.
      There is a story that back when Brock first debuted in WWE he would challenge everyone in the locker room to arm wrestling to prove how tough he was. Apparently he couldn't beat Kane. He undoubtedly could now, the guy is 50, but at his peak he was a monster and I doubt Brock could push him around.
      Strowman is no pushover.
      Big Show has training in various boxing styles.
      So in a situation where they actually wanted to resist Brock, there are a few who could.

    • @josephdurnin7698
      @josephdurnin7698 4 года назад

      @@ChildOfTheWilderness Any 290lb man who looks and moves like Lesnar would be a problem, add in a Division 1 NCAA championship background and a genuine, albeit short, stint in Mixed Martial arts and it's a wash.
      None of the guys you mentioned are defending a double leg from Brock.
      You say I'm buying into the hype of MMA and Boxing (despite you bringing up Big Shows Boxing training which he admits went poorly) but these guys are actually getting in there any competing against each other for the world to see, Taker, Kane, Strowman and Big Show simply haven't done that. Lesnar has.

    • @ChildOfTheWilderness
      @ChildOfTheWilderness 4 года назад

      @@josephdurnin7698 they're also old.
      Plenty of pro wrestlers have some MMA background even if it's amateur like they competed in some tournaments when they were young etc.
      Brock is certainly legit, but don't forget he's not even that good at UFC level anymore. His last fight he allegedly won because of doping & he was forced to retire due to a medical condition we don't know has 100% gone away.
      I don't doubt he could rough up a lot of people, but I don't think it would be as easy as Heyman says.

    Heyman at his best reminding everyone that kayfabe can not only exist perfectly well in the current climate, but with the right mouth behind the mic, elevates the story beyond. As he said in another interview, quoting Bully Ray "Strike a chord, man". And that's exactly what he did. There's no way this actually happened because Heyman and Lesnar would never purposely try to legit injure another wrestler intentionally, jobber or Undertaker (Strowman got his receipt at the Rumble and was quickly told to 'slow the fuck down' after delivering a stiff knee to Lesnar, which resulted in the very real right straight afterwards, but thats Lesnar just giving the guy a little love-tap considering his size and ability to take a potato (no way Lesnar throws that without knowing he has to keep Strowman conscious).
    Just my points of view, right or wrong as they may be.
