  • This video provides an example of where it is appropriate to use Weighted Least Squares estimation, and contrasts the results that this estimator will find with those achieved from Ordinary Least Squares. Check out ben-lambert.co... for course materials, and information regarding updates on each of the courses. Quite excitingly (for me at least), I am about to publish a whole series of new videos on Bayesian statistics on youtube. See here for information: ben-lambert.co... Accompanying this series, there will be a book: www.amazon.co....

These are superb, however it would be great if you could use numbers for the videos. So I could track them easily. As in heteroskedasticity-1, 2 and so on.Great service!

Hi, thanks for your comment. The videos are all arranged in the correct order on my channel homepage. If you have a look at the undergraduate course (both playlists) then this should provide you with a list of video lectures to go through. Best, Ben

If both WLS and OLS produce unbiased estimates of beta, why would the WLS and OLS lines have different slopes as shown in your video?

their regressors are different , so is the beta

In expectation, they would have the same slope. It was only in this video where there was a high outlier that the line was pulled upward. Going into the situation, it was equally probable that the outlier would have been well below the line. Hope this helps two years on.
