@msmuzikera13 The boards will still work without rubber except you wont get the same feel like your playing against someone else. By having rubber, when the ball returns, it will come back with topspin whereas without rubber, the ball will return with no spin. Also its much louder. But it will still work and you could always add rubber later.
@drwise2 Thank you. The boards are about 85cm x 40cm each, roughly. The board itself is made of a think piece of ply wood and correct, majority of the cost was the rubbers. In total I used 20 sheets of rubber for the two boards. I wish you all the best for your boards as well.
Thank you for this Idea. I am going build it one change I am planning to do is just use the sheet stand and lean a board against it in forward facing angle.
@fishing4living the boards i actually bought the boards from a local hardware store and cut them out to a size I preferred. I cut them out to be 85cm by 40cm each.
@awesomdanz:I'm blown away by the quality of your return boards. They're better than many of the commercial boards I've seen.Unfortunately,I'm not exactly a wizard when it comes to building things. If I knew how to proceed step by step I don't think it would be a problem.I know it's asking a lot,and if you don't have the time I understand. However,if you could tell me all of the equipment I would need and a step by step timeline for constructing it I would be extremely grateful.TY for your time.
@maxk880 you actually have to use plywood or some other light wood and have to replace the board with the frame that holds the sheet music OR an easier way would be to just attach the wood very tightly to the front of board where you put sheet music on. It works best if you stick rubber on top of the wood to get a properly table tennis bat feel. Hope that helped.
@paulogolin no sorry, i didn't test it before i put the rubber on but in theory, because the boards have no grip without rubber, the spin on the ball can't get grip on the boards so the spin has no effect which is why it rebounds down and not back over the net. The rubbers are very important for the function of these boards.
@ravaneli55 Yerh, music stands are made to tilt backward and only a little bit forward. Mine only tilt a fraction forward but it is heaps to be able to practise. I've had professionals test it out and they could get no where near the full forward tilt of it. So even though it seems they cant tilt forward much, it still does everything you want it to.
@baseballguy724 my dimensions are irrelevant unless you have exactly the same music stands as the ones i used. You must look at the way the board attaches to the music stand pole. Then from that, you must figure out a way to attach your new returnboards to it. The block isn't very necessary. I only put it on so I could get a greater angle with the boards.
@placid21 well ... for both of the boards together, it cost me about $165 AUS. The ones you can buy from Germany cost $328 AUS (251 Euros) for the basic double model, but my return boards can do the same things as the speed and power returnboards which cost $383 AUS (293 Euros) and $493 AUS (377 Euros).
@ravaneli55 Yerh.. cause I got the stands from ebay, it doesnt have a model number. They were just the cheapest ones I could find but they have to be 'Heavy Duty Music Stands' in order to support the weight of the boards. So .. Goodluck.
@elliot666666 The actually rubber I bought was from 'Ping Pong World' and the rubbers were '20x Reactor Corbor Pips-In T.T. Rubber/Sponge, NEW'. They were the cheapest I could find and suit the purpose of the boards just fine. Hope that helps.
@ddoosey well, the stand I use was actually from a music stand. I order 2 heavy duty music stands then I took off the board where the sheet music was put and substitute the return board in it's place. It was almost a like for like swap. There was only some minor modifications that I needed to make.
@elliot666666 hi, the rubber I bought from ebay (was the cheapest I could find but still good quality). The sponge behind it is apart of the rubber sheets, they come as one and al I had to do was glue it on the boards.
Q1> Did you take the plastic sheets off the rubber. I just made a rebound board with huison brand rubber total 35$ for 8 rubbers. The rubber has a plastic like all chinese rubbers. I am debating takinng it off or leaving it in as it is easier to clean. 2) what kind of tripod is it. I mounted it on a monitor mount but find it is too close to the table edge so any hard hit balls just go off table. Looking to see if i can make it batter by mounting on tripod.
Many thanks for prompt reply Daniel. I intend to copy these as I feel you have made a really good DIY job on these. If you remember the site on ebay you got the rubber tiles from I would be most grateful. Great work. Steve
I've constructed my return board using your design , however the ball sems to bouncing hard enough , Ive used frienship standard rubbers.,so Im thinking its rather the thickness/material of the board or the mix stand.
@Cobbbg1998 l bought all my stuff from ebay. To mount it, you have to get the mount from the music stand that original attaches to the stand and put it on the boards instead.
Man !!! You're a genius !!!! I was thinking how the hell I'm gonna do a homemade return board. That's it. The strange thing is that I'm saxophone teacher, I see those music stands every day and I didn't though of it. Thank you SOOO much . Do you know the price of an original Michael Pollack return board ? About 400 euros. It's too expensive for me, so thanks again for the amazing idea!!!
I applaud your ingenuity!! Could you provide the dimensions of the boards and what they are made of? I'm guessing most of the cost was the rubbers. Again, good job. With your help, maybe mine will work out as well.
@vivoviv Hi, well I used Reactor Carbor Pips-In Rubbers. These are ITTF approved rubbers and they were just the cheapest I could find. For more info on the rubbers, just type '20x Reactor Corbor' in ebay and you will find the exact price and all the stats.
@MhfuForEver ummm ok then. In ebay, type in 'heavy duty music stands'. Any of the black heavy duty music stands would work perfectly fine but I bought the music stands from 'ozplaza.living'. These stands are quite easy to customise to our requirements. Good Luck.
@raviloga The board is 9mm thick and the rubber I used was normal table tennis rubber which I bought in bulk from ebay (specifically Reactor Carbor Pips-In Rubbers).
@awesomdanz did u tested your return board BEFORE gluing the rubbers? I made return boards exactly like your but I still didn't put the rubbers (too expensive to buy this month hehe). They don't work for me ...guess it's the lack of the rubbers. when I play with them reclined to the front the ball hit the board and get down instead of going up and reach the other side of the table.
Good luck to you for making your own. I bought a return board and found it noisy and extremely boring. It's a bit like kicking a football against a wall. A cheap robot wasn't much more expensive and is much more enjoyable.
@maxk880 it's really hard to explain. Yerh, I might make a video during the week explaining how I made it and what I used. But keep trying to figure it out.
Hi Daniel where did you buy the stands from, I actually have the stands for speakers but don't have the adjustable top .......what do you call it thanks David
best design I've seen yet.. can you tell me if I ought to be looking for a certain kind of music stand, as it's not clear to me exactly how you fasten that wood block to it, or how you remove the larger metal part that is normally on the stand.. thanks!
Hi there! I know it's been a while since you published this video, but I've just watched it and loved your work. I particularly fancy the idea of music tripods, it makes everything easier. But, after all this time, do they still support the boards properly? Thanks for your work!
@MhfuForEver the start of the link (world wide web) have spaces between them (w w w) because it doesnt allow me to post it otherwise so when you copy and paste it, just delete the spaces and it should work.
@fishing4living I also got the boards from ebay. w w w.ebay.com.au/itm/Professional-Heavy-Duty-Music-Sheet-Stand-Black-/260874282879?pt=AU_Instrument_Accessories&hash=item3cbd51a77f
Awesome DIY returning board I've ever seen that changes my mind. First I intended to buy a returning board at wallyrebounder_com. Now I'm going to build one like yours & hope the final cost is about 1/2 or less than. Thanks a lot for video & clear & easy-to-follow procedure . Well done, awesomdanz!
Nice tactics wanna try it. Thank you for sharing idea 💡
You are brilliant. Thank you for taking the time to share your design and answering questions. What a generous thing to do.
@msmuzikera13 The boards will still work without rubber except you wont get the same feel like your playing against someone else. The best returnboard by far.... really awesome man!!
@fishing4living the boards i actually bought the boards from a local hardware store and cut them out to a size I preferred. I cut them out to be 85cm by 40cm each.

@macdaddy1600 the thickness is 8mm and th type of plywood. The plywood I used was the basic one sold at the local warehouse. Hope that helps.
@maxk880 you actually have to use plywood or some other light wood and have to replace the board with the frame that holds the sheet music OR an easier way would be to just attach the wood very tightly to the front of board where you put sheet music on. I literally just made one of these but mine is nowhere as nice as yours. Great job! I was hoping I would get a good idea off of somebody. Thank You!
what model of music stand is it?
@baseballguy724 Correct, good observations. A block of wood should be fine. You have to customise the attachment to the type of music stand you have.
great! love it!!
@baseballguy724 The boards are about 85cm x 40cm each, roughly and the wood used was a think piece of ply wood

excellent design and i admire your idea,, i'm going to try and make one too : )

How to make it. You ripe the music holder out of a music stand then you add rubber on
Many thanks for prompt reply Daniel. I intend to copy these as I feel you have made a really good DIY job on these. If you remember the site on ebay you got the rubber tiles from I would be most grateful. Great work.

@rgayda no. they are sheet music stands.
@Cobbbg1998 l bought all my stuff from ebay. To mount it, you have to get the mount from the music stand that original attaches to the stand and put it on the boards instead.
Hi, I just put in up in my description. Hope it makes sense.
Oh, man, ¡¡your returnboards are fantastic!!. I love the returnboards, I have my own design, but your design is very good. Bye.
I applaud your ingenuity!! Could you provide the dimensions of the boards and what they are made of? I'm guessing most of the cost was the rubbers. Again, good job. With your help, maybe mine will work out as well.
@baseballguy724 well, to get the right shape, i sawed the block to roughly the right shape then i sanded it. Any wood glue should be fine
what rubber did you use?
great design!
Hi Daniel where did you get the rubber tiles from for the front? Did you use any sponge backing as well?
Many thanks Steve
@awesomdanz Well I didn't really understand it. Maybe you can make a video tutorial? So I have my music holder, I turn it forward, and then?
@vivoviv Hi, well I used Reactor Carbor Pips-In Rubbers. These are ITTF approved rubbers and they were just the cheapest I could find. For more info on the rubbers, just type '20x Reactor Corbor' in ebay and you will find the exact price and all the stats.
was wondering where u got rubbers for ur return board...also what kind of plywood did u use???
@Mikedduarte I used normal table tennis rubber which I bought in bulk from ebay.
Hi Iam interested to buy the two return boards can you let me know please from where can i buy it from? Thanks.
@MhfuForEver ummm ok then. In ebay, type in 'heavy duty music stands'. Any of the black heavy duty music stands would work perfectly fine but I bought the music stands from 'ozplaza.living'. These stands are quite easy to customise to our requirements. Good Luck.
do you have a list of the materials; type of board and dimensions, rubber mateirals, etc.
what is the thickness of the board? what type of rubber have you used?
thanks for the info will look into it
hi do you have a list of the materials; type of board and dimensions, rubber mateirals? Thanks
clever idea... what do you use to stick the board and the music stand? did you put the screw straight on the board?
Hello.
Can you share what is the name of the brackets you used in the tripod? or the model of the tripod if they came with them?
🤔🤔🤔.... Amezing 🏓🏓🏓🏓
@raviloga The board is 9mm thick and the rubber I used was normal table tennis rubber which I bought in bulk from ebay (specifically Reactor Carbor Pips-In Rubbers).

dude how did you make that? I have a music stand but paper and other stuff doens't work. plz respond
@miichaelip Both boards together cost me $165 AUD so I guess you could probably be able to make one side for around $100.
the wood is called masonite ( timber ) right?
What was the total cost of rubber? and have you made a "how to Video" yet?
Good luck to you for making your own. I bought a return board and found it noisy and extremely boring. It's a bit like kicking a football against a wall. A cheap robot wasn't much more expensive and is much more enjoyable.
from where did you get d stand?
thanks very good design and implementation. Who did u buy the rubber from on ebay? whats the brand and cost per sheet
honestly, cant remember and I had a look trying to find them again but seems they dont sell it anymore
What glue did you use to attach rubbers ?
Hi, it's about 11mm thick. And the rubber I used was normal table tennis rubber that you can easily buy from ebay.
@awesomdanz Yes i know xD But thats the problem! The link is offline in ebay -___-
How much u pay for 1 side ? nice idea !!! i want to make it but i don't know how i can make it. TT
@1755ottoman Total cost of rubber was $70. I've been intending to make a 'how to' video but i havn't had the time yet as I am studying at the moment.
What's the price for this attachment?
@maxk880 it's really hard to explain. Yerh, I might make a video during the week explaining how I made it and what I used. But keep trying to figure it out.
what is the total cost of it
Hi Daniel where did you buy the stands from, I actually have the stands for speakers but don't have the adjustable top .......what do you call it thanks David
I bought the stands from ebay. They're called heavy duty music stands and they allow the vertical rotation at the top.
How much?
Are these Mic Stand?
Roughly how much did you pay for the stands?
Price???
whats the cost
best design I've seen yet.. can you tell me if I ought to be looking for a certain kind of music stand, as it's not clear to me exactly how you fasten that wood block to it, or how you remove the larger metal part that is normally on the stand.. thanks!

mine is still standing strong after 3yrs. :)
WHAT IF I DONT PUT RUBBER SHEETS?
@baseballguy724 I got them from ebay.
how much it costs?
I got the music stands from ebay.
@MhfuForEver the start of the link (world wide web) have spaces between them (w w w) because it doesnt allow me to post it otherwise so when you copy and paste it, just delete the spaces and it should work.
How pricey؟
@viejoteca89 Thank you.
@awesomdanz I spent a total of $165 AUD
85cm each
That's clever
Have you heard of squip? there you use every wall as a return board. this is amazing. there are already some videos around. #squip
riiiight!
It cost $165 AUD
You can also just put your table against a wall.
+goshensquash Nope, that is absolutely different.
@awesomdanz This Link are offline :-(
the music was like ''i'm so lonely"...
$20 each i think
@fishing4living I also got the boards from ebay. w w w.ebay.com.au/itm/Professional-Heavy-Duty-Music-Sheet-Stand-Black-/260874282879?pt=AU_Instrument_Accessories&hash=item3cbd51a77f
