The Metropolitan is great too. I haven't had a chance to ride one. But the new one 2020 at IMS show is a great little thing. The engine in the scooter is strong.
Yeah I agree the C3 does look cool. Both Honda and Yamaha make great scooters and both have advantages. The fuel injection is a big advantage. Thanks for the video.
The engine is the best part, 3v four stroke fuel injection. Makes a healthy 5hp. I'd say the biggest flaw are the brakes, but you can do a front disc swap on these I believe so there is aftermarket support Btw, it's pronounced C-cubed
Yeah, they don't come up for sale very often. The last few I looked at were pretty rough and the sellers wanted almost full original retail for them. But, they're good as gold.. the precursor to the now Zuma 50F. I had a Zuma 50F; seats 2 with plenty of room, but not as funky looking as the C3.
John Christian you can buy a lot of stuff for that man. like two of my rt50s made with the same jog50 motor and made in the same country. but I like the c3 personally if you find one at a good price
I think they look cool. But it’s a 4 stroke. And realistically you’re at 95% throttle the entire time so mpg’s are actually around 100-110, still not bad!
paul bunyun The way it sits, it doesn’t expose the inside of the helmet, but I also don’t ride mine in the rain anyway. It’s kept in a garage and I’ll use my car if the weather is bad.
I would recommend older 2-stroke Yamaha aerox. They are good looking and have almost everything this bike has or more. Also they are really easy to tune being 2-stroke.
Vehicle Hunter, for the 50cc zumas: 2011 and older zumas are 2-stroke, air cooled, and carbureted. 2012+ are 4-stroke, liquid cooled, and fuel injection.

No one buys the ruckus cause it’s cool stock 😂 we buy them cause there’s a HUGE aftermarket we just like to mod them and cruise around car shows and shit
I bought the - stock height - underseat storage bag, some saddle bags, a rack & top case, plus bag for holding a quart of oil & liter of gas on the rack over the bug eye head lamps. I’ve brought back 35 lb bags of dog food, 3x5x42” box of garage door springs, plus a 40-50 lb statue of a bulldog, lashed to the foot area of my Ruckus. I put rear pegs behind the seat to change the riding geometry, as well as putting highway pegs out from the foot area, that I didn’t like so much; but turned out great for tying packages to. There was only two weeks in SW Ohio that I didn’t ride last Winter. Haven’t modded anything to speed it up yet. It’s a great commuter around town. Rode it 120 miles to pick up my truck that I left somewhere when I bought a 650 for out of state trips.Rucki are great!
Front drum brakes makes no since. Not a fan of the 50cc at that price either, but with that said there is a market for everyone...That's what it's all about! Good video.
I liked your post. I've had Kymco, SunL, still have Vip, Tao Tao, and am looking at buying something new this week. Kinda wanting 2 stroke. Tired of customizing GY6. My stolen Kymco was 2 stroke. I wanna build a 2 stroke up.
I have a 2011 more room under the seat, my helmet and my oversized tennis racquet fit in there tho not at the same time. Faster and better than Honda, love it.
it's all what you like, i don't like the idea of a front drum brake or the under seat storage looks like it should be much more than it is, fuel injection is a good option, i don't like where the gas tank is located must have a fuel pump unlike most that are gravity fed with vacuum assist, more expensive if has to be replaced. most gas caps i have seen on more expensive scooters are like that, like i said it's what you prefer, on 49cc scooters i prefer 2 stroke only because they keep up with traffic better, on bigger 4 stroke is fine.
Idk I think it has potential; handsome in the same way that those old European coups are handsome That rear brake is really nice All it really needs is a different placement for those turn lights Maybe take out those few inches for that pathetic trunk and use it to drop the scooter lower which would also make that huge blue space above the headlight disappear
It was the same scooter, engine and what not, as the Zuma. The Zuma sold better so they discontinued the C3. Zuma is a great scooter. Liquid cooled, 3 valve, 4 stroke fuel injected, Ceramic coated cylinder, 115 mpg. I got the C3 in 2011 because I wanted to look like I can only go 40mph when I can only go 40mph ;-)
It slows down like most 50's going uphill. But in this area there are not many mountains to climb> I've taken it on hilly rides and it does bog down quite a bit, but thats the nature of the beast. a 100cc scooterw ouldnt have that issue.
its so boxy, the front would be perfect with a front rack, tail box panniers on the side and boom! you gotta camping scooter. Also, 125-150 cc would been better

And with countries like India essentially copying EU regulations like this, scooter manufacturers just don't bother building anything that isn't Euro4 compliant anymore. Because it means losing access to two of the biggest markets in the world. It's a cute scooter. But it's very impractical, and it's as expensive as a Vespa or Peugeot. It has a generous amount of storage space for a helmet and a lot more. The floorboard is very conveniently flat to carry things. The directionals are close to the scooter so that they don't get knocked off easily. My scooter arrived "derestricted", meaning that speed governors were removed. I've only had the scooter for three days now, breaking it in, and 40 mph is no problem for it, and that is not at full throttle - full throttle will have to wait for more break-in time. The dealer said it can reach up ton 50 mph. BTW - the Buddy's warranty is TWO years, plus there's a TWO year Roadside Assistance 24/7 available at no charge. So this begs the question - how in the world is the C3 "the best"????????????
Oh yes! Got it up to 47 mph and it's still not broken in yet - I've got 220 more miles to put on it before I bring it in for the first service (the manual says 1st service should be at 200 miles, dealer says to bring it in after 300 miles "it's that bulletproof" he says.
Surely you have reliable resources to back that up which you'd want to share with me and the scootering community? Inquiring minds want to know if there's a special thing called : "Buddy-miles/hour".
BTW, OregonDork, my Buddy presently coasts at 47 mph, and after it goes into the shop next week for it's first service, I expect it to leave the shop being able to go a few miles faster.
For something that is supposed to be "the best you can buy", you actually had quite a few negative things to say about it. I'm guessing you didn't do very many side by side comparisons to other models.
I have a Yamaha C3 and it is definitely one of the best scooters! Although I will say that green is the only nice colour, all the other colours are tacky.
I have the white one. Thinking about getting a vynal wrap done to it in an orange speed cone color with orange reflective tape for trim. Make that sucker glow at night :-)
I think the plastic that is the bases of the containers and roofs of the engine "compartment" would, subject to constant temperature change, wear out over the life of the scooter. The moment of something having been stuffed in breaking through and catching fire or causing a malfunction would be litigatable. Also, someone might try to carry an infant or a pet. Metal could be stronger but it would accumulate heat if it were close to the engine which would transfer up to the seat, which being made of differently materialed componants might wear out from heat. Also, if there is a leak a large amount of water could accumulate in a large storage space.
Wear of plastic over the life of the scooter hardly happens. Plastic is pretty durable, it might over the life of the scooter become weaker. But you probably won't see that weakness anytime in your life. If anything tabs and mounts of the plastic would break. I understand why you think that, but all sportbikes have plastic close to their engines, and they accumulate more miles and don't catch fire...that much ;)
Vehicle Hunter laws in my state says I cant ride on the interstate I don't really know what a interstate is I'm only 15... can u explain when I look up short trips it said US50 n roads like that is that a interstate
Vehicle Hunter can u do me a quick favor search on Google maps from alexandria va to trenton NJ and put avoid highways n tolls and tell me if it still hits a highway I'm confused thanks if possible
Thats a good question. The reason is it didn't sell well was because it's looks never caught on like the ruckus. The ruckus is a more memorable bike that is all looks and the aftermarket grew from it's basic appearance. Yamaha did take a chance in designing the C3 after the Cushman, but unfortunately it did not sell well. Which is one of the reasons you can get great deals on them. Another great scooter is the Honda elite 110 and 150 that were only sold in 2010 in the u.s. Both amazing scooters, but didn't sell well and so they were discontinued. Nothing to do with performance. The c3 is a better scooter than the ruckus by a longshot, but it didn't sell well. It can still kick a ruckus ass anyday. :)
the scooter looks good but there are some drawbacks that need to be removed, for e.g., the canal on the footboard which is otherwise big, must be removed, the dicky that looks like a trunk has no big enough space, it is shallow and therefore not of much use, the lid of the petrol tank is given at the footrest which is quit odd; it should have been at the back of the seat.In short, the scooter needs to be reworked and the company avoid these short comings in the next version of this scooter, finally the milage is not known.
This is a 2008 scooter. So its been on the market pretty long. When you look at it in regards to sales, it did not do very well. But also the reason it's a great buy in the used market.
quick question... so do you have to premix the gas since its a two-stroke? or because it has fuel injection does it have some sort of separate tank that you put the two-stroke oil in and it will automatically work that way? lemme know I'm loving the classic look of that scooter just wondering if I'll have to measure and mix my gas or if I just need to top off the oil container when I fill up with gas as well?!? thanks in advance I really appreciate it.. -peter
It's a modern 4 cycle (stroke) scooter. You'd have to get one used, however, as Yamaha quit making them. No oil to mix with fual required. Straight gasoline.
2:46-2:50-"Let me just pull up on this handle..." handle doesn't open right away & the guy looks like he's struggling with it & finally gives up...epic fail
It is not rare to find fuel injected scooter they practically alot of brand name scooters all come fuel injected For the money you spent on your Yamaha C3 you could have got a Honda Grom better looking, and way faster, like 60mph easy, shit my tao tao New Speed 50cc scooter goes 47mph stock and cost only $800 with taxes and assembly down hill i hot 52 other day 5500kilometers on mines stock everything just oil change and gear oil changed out also only put 89 non ethanol gas and she loves it.
So, which points really make this one "the best scooter you possibly can buy"? As far as I can see, apart from OK looking headlight, this really has nothing special going for it.
Fuel Injection, super reliability, cheap and very practical to own. Fit and finish is much higher than any 50cc i've seen. With its wide thick tires it makes the scooter more comfortable. Wide seat makes it more comfortable and easy to live with.
I tried out a 2009 Yamaha C3 today and will be purchasing it. It has over 2500 miles on it. The price is pretty decent. $1200.00 for it.

Awesome scooter!! They need to bring this back in 2021!!!!
And 2023!
I do agree -- "it looks like it has a massive trunk, but it doesn't"
Yeah, it's deceiving. The trunk is very shallow.
The Giggle (C3 in France 👌) is really cool.
I ALMOST purchased one, but I bought a Honda CHF50S (Metropolitain) my Honda's storage capacity is amazing and super comfy.
The Metropolitan is great too. I haven't had a chance to ride one. But the new one 2020 at IMS show is a great little thing. The engine in the scooter is strong.

For something that is supposed to be "the best you can buy", you actually had quite a few negative things to say about it. I'm guessing you didn't do very many side by side comparisons to other models.
its not even his scooter
Can’t find it anywhere
I believe there's an adjustment screw on the back of the horn, you couldn't make it a deeper tone if you want.
Drink when he says "actually", double drink when he says "really".
lol, bad habits are hard to break.
Is it available in india
I have a Yamaha C3 and it is definitely one of the best scooters! Although I will say that green is the only nice colour, all the other colours are tacky.
I have the white one. Thinking about getting a vynal wrap done to it in an orange speed cone color with orange reflective tape for trim. Make that sucker glow at night :-)
Does it support two person seating?
@@menahilsajid1469 Not really. It's only 50cc, so it's not recommended.
I understand why you think that, but all sportbikes have plastic close to their engines, and they accumulate more miles and don't catch fire...that much ;)
Scooter Patrol
That's such a cute scooter!!!
How much it cost?
if you have to ask, it's to much
I'm getting a 50cc motorcycle scooter what gps app would u recommend for long trips to avoid highways because US50 is a highway right ?
you should be able to download any map app on your phone. I like to use maps.me because its like google maps but offline. I also like the garmin 376c.

Vehicle Hunter can u do me a quick favor search on Google maps from alexandria va to trenton NJ and put avoid highways n tolls and tell me if it still hits a highway I'm confused thanks if possible
lol
If the C3 was such a great scooter, why was it discontinued? And the Ruckus is still in production. Ruckus is much better than the C3.
Are you also a chef?
Why does it allready have damage?
The bike was used.
Vehicle Hunter ah ic, thanks
because the scooter has to much power for the owner
Anyone that buys this scooter change the fuel pump and yer good. Trust me.
really? what about the ruckus?
Change it out for what, another model? Or just replace it once?
You need to make this a 400cc
Bigger ain't always best.
how is he going to do that?
@@VehicleHunter not what your wife says
What is the c3's top speed?
It's about 40mph, probably a. bit lower if you have less air in the tires.
the scooter looks good but there are some drawbacks that need to be removed, for e.g., the canal on the footboard which is otherwise big, must be removed, the dicky that looks like a trunk has no big enough space, it is shallow and therefore not of much use, the lid of the petrol tank is given at the footrest which is quit odd; it should have been at the back of the seat.In short, the scooter needs to be reworked and the company avoid these short comings in the next version of this scooter, finally the milage is not known.
I've done a couple tests of the mileage and they are pretty good. But i agree, it has some flaws. One of it's major pluses is
Vehicle Hunter well, let's wait and watch wether or not this scooter stands in the two wheeler market, where there is a cutthroat compition.
-peter
No it is a 4 stroke scooter.
It's a modern 4 cycle (stroke) scooter. You'd have to get one used, however, as Yamaha quit making them. No oil to mix with fual required. Straight gasoline.
Curtis maydfield, give me tour love. Music
Tall me if there is a deal near Richmond VA ok
ever heard of Google?
Sold
look up the yamaha aerox that is a nice bike and you can really wheelie it super easy
unfortunatly it's not a bike I can even get.
Apparently there's such thing as a moped license
really? puff puff.....doubt it
2:46-2:50-"Let me just pull up on this handle..." handle doesn't open right away & the guy looks like he's struggling with it & finally gives up...epic fail
Right, that would be true if at 2:38 the useage of the handle wasn't clearly demonstrated.
You might need to revisit the video because he is not pulling up on the handle. He is describing the way the handle is.
@@motardsquid what?
It is not rare to find fuel injected scooter they practically alot of brand name scooters all come fuel injected For the money you spent on your Yamaha C3 you could have got a Honda Grom better looking, and way faster, like 60mph easy, shit my tao tao
New Speed 50cc scooter goes 47mph stock and cost only $800 with taxes and assembly down hill i hot 52 other day 5500kilometers on mines stock everything just oil change and gear oil changed out also only put 89 non ethanol gas and she loves it.
Best scooter????
2 stroke?....
