Still don't understand why this game gets a bit of hate, this is easily one of my top 5 video games ever, such an interesting and beautiful story, always kept me engaged and that las chapter felt so heavy even though you were only carrying lou., it's mind blowing how it achieved that on not only me but many other players, truly a masterpiece
I can tell you why, I liked it a lot but DS is way far from being a masterpiece. It is about gameplay but not because “it’s a walking simulator”, that’s a dumbass point
people don't like it because of its pacing, there's too much space in between story beats for most people. Which is a massive shame, because the story is fantastic.
I've finished DS yesterday, came to listen to this again. I see comments of You all. Comments describing Your personal loss. Personal grief. Personal hardship. And then, in response to that, the comments of love, compassion and support. No hate, no rejection. This is most incredible comment section I've seen. As Sam connected the people of the doomed world, the game itself connected us through this song. What Kojima and his crew achieved is really incredible. I am grateful for this.
If somehow you did not notice (and a surprising amount did not), if you press the call-out button during this delivery, you'll hear Sam lamenting and *apologizing* to Lou. Damn you Kojima, you brilliant man.
I am so thankful to Kojima Hideo, Norman Reedus, Madds Mikkleson Lea Seydoux, Tommy Earl Jenkins, guillermo del toro and the countless other actors, developers animators, motion capture artists, musicians, voice actors, sound designers, artists, story boarders, story writers and everyone else at Kojima productions for making singlehandedly the most emotional, thought provoking and story driven games of the last decade
one of the greatest of all time tbh. one of my favorite things was the cinematic-style presentation combined with the soundtrack. when you add the awesome story, filled ou lore, and setting it just makes for a masterful game.
The moment this song starts When Arthur takes off his hat in RDR2 Sniper Wolf words when wolves are howling in MGS Eva's confession in MGS3 That last reunion in MGS4 Max's final choice in Life Is Strange Videogame moments I will never forget!
i got killed for the first time on the snowy mountain north of mountain knot city, so i built a network of zipline connecting all the bases throughout the mountain so somebody dont have to go through what i went through. Hope it helped
The beauty of this moment is how different elements come together to make a masterful real time, interactive cinematic experience. This is where Kojima excelled.

An odd game, and a unique experience I doubt I’ll ever forget. If nothing else, I feel Kojima’s point about connection really shines through the multiplayer. I often found myself going out of my way to make a route just a little easier for a person I’d never even meet. That’s quite a powerful feeling, in my opinion.
@@rasalghul2597 I had quite a few zip lines as well mostly for the timed orders, my favorite orders were the quantity based orders where you got to load up your truck almost full and get stupid amounts of xp
That single delivery made me cry more than all of the saddest moments in fiction combined. Kojima and his team really know how to destroy player's soul. The moment when song plays those baby noises made me think for a second that Lou has just woken up, so i desperately tried to check up on him only to find out it was just part of a song making me sink into despair even more
me listening to this song before the game came out: wow! cool song! me listening to this game after chapter 14: ITS ALL MY FAULT ITS ALL MY FAULT ITS ALL MY FAULT LOU? LOU?!?!?!?
Such a masterpiece , big loss for those who call it a walking simulator. This is one of the most creative and mind blowing experiences in gaming than just your usual generic games. You don't get that nowadays anymore. Keep on keeping on porters ❤️👍🏻
It's a solid game, but the plot has some massive holes though that's expected with Kojima plots. It feels like a love letter to fans of Kojima and fans of easy and relaxing games, so anyone who sees a walking sim wouldn't like it anyway, so not really a big loss for them. I'm just happy to see him able to do something other than Metal Gear. Snatcher is so underrated so I'm glad he has a chance to hit that sweet spot again. Maybe the next game or movie he does will.
Plot is good but gameplay is so addictive, I'm trying to get a platinum trophy and for the first time i'm thankful for the grind. Delivering packages carry this "one more time" syndrome, this game doesn't end with the credits but getting all the stars and achievements, then I can call it I beat death stranding.
The only weight you carry in the final delivery are the feelings. And they are heavy. What a game. True masterpiece of this generation. Unforgettable experience. This song make me cry every time. Thank you Kojima Productions.
This song is so so beautiful...as soon as it started playing, tears started rolling down..over an hour later I was still crying, I finished the game and still was crying... this song and that last delivery are so perfect together. This game will forever hold a special place for me.
The heaviest of packages was nothing compared to the heavy heart of having to put Lou to rest. Only for that heaviest weight to be lifted hearing Lou's cries of life. Death Stranding is one of my absolute favourite games of all time. 'Nuff said.
Likely nowdays games are more about casual experience rather then immersive story telling and revolutionary gameplay sekiro come on...ive played so many action adventure games it feels the same
Its absolutely amazing how Hideo's writing can move people hearts and feelings. Hideo is a living legends and i hope he never stops writing great stories.

I don't know, but when I hear that sound, I remember the protection my mother gave me and the affection I received as a child. I took some pictures of when I was a baby and seeing her and me. Even a tear came down, but happiness to see how things go and one day I'll take care of her with the same affection I had when I was a baby.
This game was a hard sale for a lot of people because it was very VERY weird. But for those of who gave it the chance it deserved and played to the end, it proved to be well worth every single second.
i actually kinda have a hard time listening to this song. No special meaning from the game. it's the song itself. The lyrics are powerful and sad. The thought of talking to someone during their last moments, it's crushingly sad and terrifying.
I can't explain why I was so happy when this little line came through. My voice cracked and my eyes welled up. My Wife was in the other room and asked if I was alright...
The lyrics is truly heartbreaking. The game is an emotional roller-coaster. Hideo Kojima created story that brought out emotions I didn't know existed. Thanks!
In my opinion Death Stranding is a game about fatherhood, and learning how to be okay with yourself. Cliff Unger and Sam Bridges show this perfectly and are the main reasons why I'm so in love with this game. It came to me at a time of where I needed to feel emotions like this, to remind me I'm human. Hideo Kojima deserves all the love for this game.
Frustration, meaning, selflessness, fatherhood, connection, bravery, perseverance, quietness, solitude, doubt, excitement, curiosity, empathy, forgiveness, acceptance, love, reflection, life, death, earth, co-existence, existence, friendship, trust. There are so many subtleties in this game that makes it so emotional and thought-provoking.
Kojima never fails to deliver, he is the master porter, i had my doubts about this game but the more i played i could see the beautiful message, please never stop making videogames, you are the best mr Kojima
this is by far the best game i have ever played in my hole life. The plot is amazing and i was playing it just to see what happens at the next chapter. It is one of the few games that made me cry in the end.....I wish i could play it from the beggining like its my first time again.I dont need other games ......only this one.............
When this started to play I felt teary eyed and wanted to just make Sam run on forever... I did make one stop before the final destination, I went to the cliff....where you can see the crater that remains of Central.
Death stranding is the best video game experience i have had in my whole life.... This game surely isn't for everyone. And I think that made this game even better..... ❤️
I've just finished this game recently and I must admit that I haven't played something like this in years! Kudos to everyone involved, from Kojima Productions! This game is, truly, a REAL MASTERPIECE! 👏👏👏
I just finished the game last night, fuck It was the hardest delivery i have done, i did not want to do It, and when i saw cremate i hurted a lot. And yes i cried also, fuck sake, It was hard emotional and worth the grind, 90 hours, worth it
I heard Sam say that and literally paused the gane and just stared into oblivion for like 5 hrs straight ... I don't even know if I blinked my eyes ... water was just driplibg from my eyes 😭😭
Chapter 14 is probably the most memorable level of any video game. The music, the graphics, the change in camera angle and all you're doing is walking. Pretty amazing direction from Kojima
I’ve spent decades playing RPG games and this is the most emotional I’ve ever felt about a mission. I felt sad at the start of it, but when this absolutely beautiful track started playing, that was it for me. 😥 So much depth to this game. Such wonderful writing!
I cried so much, that one last delivery was one of the hardest specially at the sound of this masterpiece. I loved the game story all the way, it was an incredible journey.
This game is still a masterpiece in the following: Open World Exploration, Open World Routing, Dynamic Enemies, Scenics, Cinematics, Plot, and making the player use ALL of the buttons on the controller.
Just finish playing the game. This song hits me real hard. Somehow, Death Stranding made me cried two times. First, I really love how badass Clifford Unger is. I thought he came back alive to steal BB from Sam. Turns out, Clifford is just searching day and night for Sam and just want to say that he missed Sam so much. Next, sending Lou to the incinerator. The BB song hits, tears dropping from my eyes in instants.
My Ivory died today. I sang this song as she closed her eyes for her final sleep. Thank you Ludvig Forssell, Silent Poets, Leila Adu and Hideo Kojima for giving her one last lullaby.
If you press the pad on controller Sam will say "it's all on me" "I'm sorry Lou" and such sad things throughout the mission. And it wrecks my heart more.
You can never hate this game once you immersed yourself. I am one of the doubters of this game, but i tried it since its available in ps+. i was blown away, the same feeling when i first zelda botw. this is not a game, its an art.
Climbing Igor's ladder and then the rocks into the sunshine beyond while listening to the song That was some of the best moments I've had in games for a while

And I won't wake before you go
And I still hear your heartbeat
Feel the wind rise
Adorned without you
Watch that star die
Eons without you
I'll stay with you
In your mind
Every single day
I'll wait and soon
We're stranded on the beach
In our dream
We left too soon
But in our eyes
There's a truth to find
The air is new
But, tomorrow we must reach forth
To be heard
See the sunset
The day is ending
Let your heart stop
See the sunset
See the sunset
Oh, I'll try to stay with you
Oh, I won't stray away from the truth
And I
And I still want to love on you
And I
See the sunset
The day is ending
That's a masterpiece... Kojima, what you doing with our hearts... That scene...
Сергій Київський did you know that ludvig forssell has a youtube channel? Go liaten to the music there instead of giving money to people who just copy others hard work
@@dompan9169 If you're talking about the "Ludvig Forssell - Topic" channel, it's an auto-generated channel created by RUclips to group trending contents. The composer has no say in the matter. Listening to this music here or there end up making no difference, as Sony own the rights and this is their official soundtrack channel
Noctivagus oh
Noctivagus i did not know... the channel name did not relly sound legit
When thus song starts playing towards the end, the scene with Sam and cliff. I seriously started bawling. Seriously one of the best scenes of ANY video game EVER. Thank you Kojima san 😙😭
It plays when you're walking from Capital Knot to the Incinerator.
Kittie Kat go say that to ludvig
@@dompan9169 absolutely right.
Kittie Kat kinda sad that all these other random people get money from ludvigs music... ludvig only got 500 subscribers. And that no way near enough for the work he put into this music
It was the best moment I have seen after so many years in video games
I'm not crying, you're crying! This game is 11/10. The storytelling is legendary and the visuals absolutely stunning.
Yeah, those tears were definitely from a chiral allergy
I hadn't even played it myself at the time it came out, I'd watched it in on Twitch with my fav streamer and my hecking mind was blown all the way away. I remember the state of the chat during this song. Best game of the year, still crying in God's year 2023.
My personal issue is the gameplay and pacing of the story, while good the game is really slow I personally get bored kinda fast
people don't like it because of its pacing, there's too much space in between story beats for most people. Which is a massive shame, because the story is fantastic.
plot is good, pacing is slow, unique/different style of gameplay, weird but still good
Because people judge a game from the first five minutes and not the experience as a whole.
I find myself returning and checking here for new comments now and again. I finished the game last year in the Fall and I still feel connected to it.
@igorhq1 THIS! ⬆
If somehow you did not notice (and a surprising amount did not), if you press the call-out button during this delivery, you'll hear Sam lamenting and *apologizing* to Lou.
Damn you Kojima, you brilliant man.
I am recording a video of this game, and will contain this, thanks to you!
The moment this song starts
When Arthur takes off his hat in RDR2
Sniper Wolf words when wolves are howling in MGS
Eva's confession in MGS3
That last reunion in MGS4

Unfortunately I can't be a father, i came here to remember of this amazing game, bring some comfort somehow. Thank you Hideo Kojima.
I was a dad before I was a father. Don't forget you can still be someone's dad, if it's what you want.
This game is not for everyone, but not everyone can appreciate beauty, can they?
An odd game, and a unique experience I doubt I’ll ever forget. If nothing else, I feel Kojima’s point about connection really shines through the multiplayer. I often found myself going out of my way to make a route just a little easier for a person I’d never even meet. That’s quite a powerful feeling, in my opinion.
Yeah I was obsessed with completing all of the roads so I’m sure that helped out plenty of other players

That single delivery made me cry more than all of the saddest moments in fiction combined. Kojima and his team really know how to destroy player's soul. The moment when song plays those baby noises made me think for a second that Lou has just woken up, so i desperately tried to check up on him only to find out it was just part of a song making me sink into despair even more
This song had me crying that whole part ❤️❤️❤️
Same here
me listening to this song before the game came out: wow! cool song!
me listening to this game after chapter 14: ITS ALL MY FAULT ITS ALL MY FAULT ITS ALL MY FAULT LOU? LOU?!?!?!?
i sing this song for my baby girl now. she loves it!
👍👍
Plot is good but gameplay is so addictive, I'm trying to get a platinum trophy and for the first time i'm thankful for the grind. Delivering packages carry this "one more time" syndrome, this game doesn't end with the credits but getting all the stars and achievements, then I can call it I beat death stranding.
@@aleksanderzaremba9695 it is pretty addicting and really gives off this rewarding feeling
@@Spootnik i beat the game and i can't think of any plotholes i came across
'Nuff said.
when this song started to play in-game, i was crying from start to finish ;_;
Should have won game of the year.
Likely nowdays games are more about casual experience rather then immersive story telling and revolutionary gameplay sekiro come on...ive played so many action adventure games it feels the same
From who? It did win several GotY awards. IMO the real overlooked masterpiece was Metro Exodus, not this anyway.
Metro Exodus was an incredible tale of hope, lies, truth, and perseverance. Sad it didn’t win GOTY.

I wish we also had a recording of Mads' version... This one has a more hopeful tone while Cliffs' is melancholic and bittersweet...
i actually kinda have a hard time listening to this song. No special meaning from the game. it's the song itself. The lyrics are powerful and sad. The thought of talking to someone during their last moments, it's crushingly sad and terrifying.
Lou..?

This game made me cry like a bridge baby when you fall over and lose your cargo.
And now we'll wait for Troy Baker's cover of this beautiful song. Finally DS2 was announced and the hype is all over again.
The OST of this game is simply wonderful and the final part of the game with these songs are so powerful T_T
This my friend ! You have described the feeling in the best possible way
Frustration, meaning, selflessness, fatherhood, connection, bravery, perseverance, quietness, solitude, doubt, excitement, curiosity, empathy, forgiveness, acceptance, love, reflection, life, death, earth, co-existence, existence, friendship, trust. There are so many subtleties in this game that makes it so emotional and thought-provoking.
the msuic in Death Stranding is a masterpiece
Who's listening to this again in 2022 now that Death Stranding 2 has been announced?!
Kojima never fails to deliver, he is the master porter, i had my doubts about this game but the more i played i could see the beautiful message, please never stop making videogames, you are the best mr Kojima
My chest felt heavy and Iwas bawling my goddamned eyes the entire time I was going to that incinerator.
Yeah, me too. There was no end to those tears. The easiest delivery threat-wise. No BTs, nothing.. but still it was the hardest delivery in the game.
You are a genius, this song is perfect, the game's soundtrack is incredible. Ludvig you ROCK!
One day this game will be 100% recognized for its genius.
this is by far the best game i have ever played in my hole life.
Don't worry, I brought tissues for everyone.

I just finished the game last night, fuck It was the hardest delivery i have done, i did not want to do It, and when i saw cremate i hurted a lot. And yes i cried also, fuck sake, It was hard emotional and worth the grind, 90 hours, worth it
Come on, Lou - One last delivery.

I heard Sam say that and literally paused the gane and just stared into oblivion for like 5 hrs straight ... I don't even know if I blinked my eyes ... water was just driplibg from my eyes 😭😭
the fact death stranding 2 is coming makes me happy, bb's updated theme is haunting and gorgeous.
This game genuinely got me excited to get back into it every time I put down the controller. It's been a long time since I felt that way about a game.
Chapter 14 is probably the most memorable level of any video game. The music, the graphics, the change in camera angle and all you're doing is walking. Pretty amazing direction from Kojima
This game will always have a special place in my heart!!! MASTERPIECE!!!
The most painful delivery in the history of video games.
4:52 Soon as i heard baby giggling while i almost reach the incinerator, i looked down on the pod as soon as i can thinking Lou was waking up.
I stood outside when I finished the game last night waiting for the song to finish. Hearing that and looking down killed me.
You looked down and then you CRIED because he wasn't...
I had arrived at the incinerator just when that happened and I thought the same thing, so I looked down, and... "I'm sorry, Lou."
This game tops my list of favorite games. #1. Thank you Hideo. Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen were amazing
and i would add Troy Baker. His interpretation of Higgs was amazing
Climbing Igor's ladder and then the rocks into the sunshine beyond while listening to the song
