People with very little attention spans just don't have the patience to get past that (which isn't even that long until you get equipment that makes traversal faster and easier) and experience it. It has much of the same Kojima DNA that made the MGS games what they are, including the stealth and combat as well as writing and story making it a much bigger experience than just "a game".
