Anyone else going back and rewatching the trailers post game, just for the surreal feeling of finally understanding what we've been over-analyzing for the past few years?
I love this trailer, because it feels far less like a traditional advertisement and more like a surreal painting/film. The music and ambience are mysterious and dreadful. The lack of any dialog gives a feeling of isolation and suspense and makes you concentrate on the world itself. When it was first released, each time I watched it I noticed one new detail after another. The trailer in general feels like (a piece of) a puzzle that draws the viewer deeper into a rabbit hole. No matter if the game is good or bad, no matter if I ever get to play this myself (don't have ps4), this trailer will forever have a place in my heart as a piece of art.

This is a game where you fight a giant ghost squid hopping rooftop to rooftop chucking grenades full of your own blood at the thing while it tugs down buildings into the murky depths below, and people act like the *only* thing you ever do is walk. Hell that's not even the only method of traversal and you get an electric trike REALLY early on that speeds the game up a lot when you do.
There's just something about the WW2 era soldiers being skeletons that is totally bad ass, but when Mad stepped out of the shadows commanding his squad in modern military uniform and night vision he looked a thousand times more menacing and deadly, and the he way his goggles flashed off of his head as he told the others to keep silent! It's really inspiring to see Kojima apply his love for movies and his original plan to be a movie director in a different platform... it's like he forced it into existence from the very first Metal Gear game, I don't know the man but it's almost a proud moment having played the Polygon format of MGS 1 back in 98 as a kid.
One of my favorite directors and one of my favorite actors in one of my favorite game designers' creation ♥ Incredibly atmospheric, especially with this wonderful music
That's more true than you know. There's more to the story than what you have when the game ends. Remember when Amelie says: "But, to connect the dots, to make sense of everything, you need perspective. You need time."? That's not Amelie talking to Sam. That's Kojima talking to the player. There are so many clues hidden in the cutscenes to a mystery the player is not even presented with.
When I saw this 7 years ago, I thought it is half life related :)) I was so intrigued but in time i forgot about it until the new gameplay trailers and it hooked me back (also I love Mads Mikkelsen). I was very curious about what is going on. It was my first Kojima title I played, I didn't knew his stile. I loved the game, still play it from time to time. It is a very complex story, full of symbolism, very hard to digest for the casual gamers. Like a graffiti wall doodle punk at a Salvador Dalí exhibition :))
@@tee9828 absolutely was worth it. The game came out pretty polished and didn't need 200 patches to fix. It was priced fairly. The game was good. Again it's one of those "hit or miss" games for some but personally it's great
FullMetalBiscuit it was specified word by word on 2 occasions that this is indeed in real time and kojima went as far as sayin that the final game will look even better :)
Demy Prod Believe what you want, it won't look that good when it comes out, especially on PlayStation. They always say "Ah look how nice it looks this is real time blah blah blah" and then it looks worse. Take a look at literally any game that has a 'real time' trailer and compare it to the release.
FullMetalBiscuit mgsv did not have a downgrade theres an exemple for you, kojima is very strict on showing trailers and gameplay that will look just like the final product u should know that by now if youve followed his work since mgs1.
While the game itself is a lot of fun and one of my favorites, it would have been just as fun if Death Stranding had just remained a bunch of highly conceptual, loosely connected trailers for a nonexistent game. Also, remember reading Kojima tweets that suggested dying was going to be a more involved game mechanic - I.e., dying (and perhaps destroying the world [this was before the concept of voidouts was announced]) at the right times and places being how you progress - but the delivery man sim with light stealth and gun combat that predicted Covid-era isolation and loneliness was just as novel. The perfect game to herald in the 2020s.
@@augiemdmorado i feel like they were bound because of the tech. Even though the ps4 was extremely capable, it was simply getting old. The next gen hardware may just be enough to support some of the wilder abandoned ideas which we might see in DS2.
This is synced with the first trailer! When the baby disappears from hands of the naked guy, it appears in the machine of this guy. When the naked guy cries, this guy's feet start getting flooded. They're also both wearing one side of a cuff, indicating a link I believe. When their backs are turned, they both look further down into the distance. In this trailer, further down, there are those FIVE evil weird soldier things. In the first trailer, further down, there are FIVE weird floating things. I think the naked guy in the first trailer is linked to the baby doll here as they both have that same scar. Furthermore, that baby doll bumping into that guy at the end could tell us that the naked guy did indeed advance towards that sea. So we're seeing teleportations between different dimensions/ life and death/ I have no clue. I love this game already.
Anyone notice the hand signals are the same from the new trailer. New guy has that tracking device like the others so maybe Madds character isn’t a bad guy.
“The characters are very dualistic in (Kojima’s) games: There is no such thing as a bad guy or a good guy in his games,” Mikkelsen said. “It is all a challenge; you have to go through these characters to achieve certain things. And it’s also a learning curve, and they will be an obstacle for you sometimes, and sometimes they will be a help for you.” Mikkelsen went on to suggest that the roles of Death Stranding’s characters may shift as the plot unfolds. “(Kojima’s) games are not as black and white as Hollywood is sometimes,” he said. “So there are more nuances of gray in his world. You’ll have to encounter these characters in different ways throughout the game.”
Kojima must be sitting there and laughing by all of our theories about this game.
As he took of the night vision goggles I almost expected a 'Kept you waiting huh'
his smirk said it all.

Keep going bro! I've put in about 45 hrs so far and it's getting insane! haha
I wasn't sure in the first few hours, but now I know this game is for me : )
I finished playing the game in the 2021's Quarantine period. Trust me, its worth it. Keep playing it and enjoying it. Don't give up at any point, your future self will thank you for playing such an incredible game. Keep On Keeping On.
Dear Solid Snake.
We don't know what year this takes place in but
War has definitely changed.
WWII - Normandy 1943 but Is it our reality? or maybe someone's been doing some naughty things with those transPORTERs...

Konami: Why are we here? Just to suffer?
Kojima: You've had your chance.
4:25 - Look at that smirk! It fills you with chills!
And here we are... In 2022. Kojima Predictions.
Why am I watching this 10 times every day?
DiegoTube85 because even though you have no idea what this is about, it looks and sounds amazing! =D
Whew ..I thought I was the only one..Been like two years and still I watch it 10 times everyday ..
Mads' character controls skeletons using black wires.
Skeletons... *death*...
Wires... *stranding*...
PuppetMaster9 dude....
goddammit
PuppetMaster9 Umbilical cords.
Mikkelsan Mads and the skeleton lads
1:27 god i love the ominous music that starts playing here, wish i could hear the full track
ruclips.net/video/EXzJjhTiwq0/видео.html well it`s closest you can get.
@@LPrussia07 Nice find :O Thanks
Enjoy, friend. Also there`s rumor that at The Game Awards 2018 the release date will be announced. Can`t wait for what Kojima got in store for us.
There is no better Villian face and voice than this man.
"teaser", for kojima that is a movie that would win any sundance festival award
Mads Mikkelsen is always so insanely terrific.
Watching this after playing the game so fun and reading comments lol
Guillermo del Toro hides newborn Silent Hill game from the hideous Konami's army of lawyers
Can't believe this was 8 years ago
One of my favorite directors and one of my favorite actors in one of my favorite game designers' creation ♥
Incredibly atmospheric, especially with this wonderful music
Kojima is a master. He makes the best trailers.
Superlosia and the best games

His compass goes wild
Magnets, my dudes
Hark! Magnetic devices, how doth they function?
is that from stranger things or from some horror movie i just watched awhile back?
Death Stranding is a game that doesn't grow on you.
You grow on it.
That's more true than you know. There's more to the story than what you have when the game ends. Remember when Amelie says:
"But, to connect the dots, to make sense of everything, you need perspective. You need time."? That's not Amelie talking to Sam.
That's Kojima talking to the player. There are so many clues hidden in the cutscenes to a mystery the player is not even presented with.
This was the only game i pre-ordered
was it worth it
When I saw this 7 years ago, I thought it is half life related :)) I was so intrigued but in time i forgot about it until the new gameplay trailers and it hooked me back (also I love Mads Mikkelsen).
Again it's one of those "hit or miss" games for some but personally it's great
*Dormammu, I've come to bargain*
Kojima games never fails to keep you thinking about it even when you have completed it huh?
screen based reflections biggest giveaway that this is a real time render not cgi, as the camera up and down the reflection disappears and reeapear
in engine on other words decima enige
Yeah you know that you pre-render in engine right? In engine doesn't mean representative of gameplay or realtime.
The speculation about this game was fucking insane. These trailers were perfect.
My head just exploded outwards
Anyone notice the hand signals are the same from the new trailer. New guy has that tracking device like the others so maybe Madds character isn’t a bad guy.
I wish it were so, but I think he might have been infected and turned bad hence the 'goo' on his face? I hope you're right though.
Madds is obviously a bad guy, he always plays evil characters.
It's a shame, because in his native Denmark he has mainly played the good guy - would have been nice that's all.
I mean, Madds said himself he didn't think Kojima's characters were "good" or "evil" as a matter of course.
“The characters are very dualistic in (Kojima’s) games: There is no such thing as a bad guy or a good guy in his games,” Mikkelsen said. “It is all a challenge; you have to go through these characters to achieve certain things. And it’s also a learning curve, and they will be an obstacle for you sometimes, and sometimes they will be a help for you.”
Mikkelsen went on to suggest that the roles of Death Stranding’s characters may shift as the plot unfolds. “(Kojima’s) games are not as black and white as Hollywood is sometimes,” he said. “So there are more nuances of gray in his world. You’ll have to encounter these characters in different ways throughout the game.”
I watch the trailer at least once a week to remind myself how epic this game's gonna be
i watch it once a day
who else watches this trailer religiously?
religiously!
I watch it confusingly.
Mads Mikkelsen is there. That's reasons enough for me 😍
This trailer becomes depressing once you know Cliff's full story.
this asks more questions than it answers and I'm already nerdin' out
I want whatever Kojima is smoking when he comes up with this stuff
Those are some amazing graphics and facial animations there, Koji pushing boundaries again!
Rushnerd the photorealism here is strong.
It's a CGI
I finally got to this point in the game 😊
Been playing this game today, the wait was worth it 👌
