Winter van life in the UK has its ups and downs, and this week has been very busy as we travel to Nottingham (England) once more to get a load of jobs done for our new campervan conversion
If you didn't already know, we (with a lot of help from friends) are converting a Big Green Removals Luton Truck into our new tiny homes - and I think we are past the half way stage

bloody love your build and your flexibility on life, the one thing being full time van lifers is that flexibility is forced on you and it makes or breaks you. we have been doing it a few months longer in you in a 2005 Kontiki 665 just for the space and how you did that long in a Transit we will never know, but you eventually saw the light. we are in our 60s and wish we had known about these alternative lifestyles 30 years ago but got caught up in the Rat race. we have now baled out. love and peace to you both and cant wait till you move in and make it your home xxx
My Dad was Irish and for sore throats and coughs would give us turnip juice, all natural, peel and slice a turnip, just 2 slices, put into an airtight container and sprinkle a couple of teaspoons of demorera sugar between, leave for approx 4 hours. The juice it provides puts a coating on your throat and allows you to have a good night's sleep and if course you can have as much as you like as there are no chemicals. Hope you feel better soon ❤️❤️❤️

Regarding the cough: I’ve had problems in the past with spending long periods of time in a room which has a heater and the dehumidifier running at the same time. The dry air can definitely aggravate the lungs x

It appears in the videos that your driving area has damp, above Liam's driving position in the headlining over the door! If it is this could contribute to Janine's cough 😳

Hi guys, as your new van is a louton, the body can be removed from the chassis cab and fitted to another one of a different make. From a future point of view you won't need to build another van when the citroen base gives up just put the body on a replacement chassis cab. You would only need to cut into the new cab, very easy.

I love your channel because you are so honest with showing all the highs and lows of everyday life in your camper van. Years ago way back in the eighties I used to stealth camp with my Mum and brother, we were outrageous coz we camped in the middle of the west end of London, without even a parking ticket and left in the morning with the parking attendant on our our heels! So glad Janine got her medicine ( Mullen is fantastic for coughs!).
And you got away with it, that's the most important thing haha 💚
Hello lovely to see the van comming along, love the door . I have said before though concerning wood burners, (we have used one in our home in France for many years ) apart from the fine dust, cleaning of the flu, chimmny is a bind (certificate needed in France in case of fire).
You have a small bore flue etc, even using aged wood, there will be a build up of soot and other products that are combustible, the clean up after the stripdown is a mission. And as said prior you cannot stealth camp in towns etc. To finish lithium is the way to go for power, and big water and waste tanks are a must. Welcome to the open road.

Great video when you cannna sleep! 😊👍..can I give you a tip concerning your Gnocchi it will hopefully make you love it! 😊...firstly boil you water as you probably already do ...wait till it floats to the top .or better still don't cook for as long say a minute less then you will get less starch which is making your Gnocchi sticky ! ...strain in a sieve and rinse gently with a little cold water and set a side ...next part is crucial make sure all Gnocchi is not sticking next to each other ...in simpler terms just seperate 😛 ...next ...heat some oil to a medium heat and add your Gnocchi leave for a minute then turn it and it should be nice and brown , cook other side for a further minute ...add some garlic and parsley a minute before you serve ...I always add cooked green beans and more garlic ....honestly its amazing and you get lovely little caramelised crispy Gnocchi...😊...I'm sure it will change your view on it ..because I'm with you don't like boiled Gnocchi....❤..basically your just frying it with garlic and beans ..😊👍❤...The van is looking amazing! ...I just love your updates ❤

Yay another video, love these - you’ve gotta try cooking knochi like this, tiny bit of oil in a frying pan, bang the knochi in, put a lid on - and as it fries it steam’s at the same time, bc the condensation from lid drips back down, its amazing guys, back to the video……. P.s wait until its golden brown on both sides😋

Wow the new van will be amazing! The small woodburner is super. Just do a smoke test to check the roof fan won’t draw fumes out of the woodburner into the van. Better safe than sorry.

Flue pipes do clag up with black gak , especially when the burner spends a lot of time on tickover , just glowing on low heat . . . . .so a way to clear that is to roar it up , get flames shooting up the chimney and burning the gak . .:) . . . . .what doesn't burn falls back down on to the baffle and you can scrape it out easily with a bit of wire or something . This saves having to disturb the chimney pipe , obviously keep a check on how hot the chimney is getting while you do this , don't want it setting fire to the panelling or anything near it !

Can you imagine parked at a beech front with a couple of lounge chairs up there, maybe even a faux fire pit, make a whole back yard on your roof!! love you guys!

If you want to spend more time off grid try to maximise your fresh and grey water tank sizes. Also your gas storage needs to be a decent size. If you are using a cassette type toilet buy an extra cassette. (£100). This will extend toilet emptying intervals. The cassette can be popped into a carrier bag when it needs emptying and stealthily carried to a public toilet. If you dont want to use chemicals in the cassette you can buy a electric fan venting kit which enables the cassette toilet to be used without chemicals. Lithium batteries are a good idea. They are a lot more expensive than lead acid but they are more efficient.

Just a suggestion-apologies if it’s already been made! Re gnocchi: don’t boil it in water. Just fry it in a frying pan in a bit of oil (could add a bit a garlic/chilli flakes if you like). Move it about a bit then your get gnocchi that’s a bit crispy but soft inside. Makes a great accompaniment with ant dish especially tomato sauce based ones👍

Amazing what Liam can do transforming that van. It'll be amazing. Only thing I wouldn't be comfortable be with is the bed because I'm a bit claustrophobic.. not being be able to to sit up in bed when there's a mattress up there would freak me out a bit!

I honestly recommend buying yourselves a couple of bikes and having a bike rack fitted to your home. I'm a keen mountain biker and the places you'll be able to travel on a bike compared to walking is huge. Also, a brilliant cardio workout to get your heart pumping and keep warm! Safe travels guys, love following your journey ♥️

The van build is really progressing and it looks incredible. It will make a much more comfortable for long term living. As for Janine's cough, I have mild asthma and had the same symptoms especially after exercise. The MD told me that any chronic cough without other explanation is considered to be asthma. She needs a low dose bronchodilator with a steroid. I would get another dr's opinion. 🙂😀👍👍👍👍

The eco burn, will help with being stealth, because it burns the smoke inside the fire as well,.so looking from outside, there should be no smoke coming out the flue.

Fabulous,until you have to find safe spots to park overnight in especially if you have a huge vehicle! Hopefully they are not mistaken for the travelling community! But it’s a wonderful way to see the country for a short term !🙂

Lots of people think this but it is a very hard life in the UK. Abroad is very different story as over there they actually encourage campers.
It is much easier to set up a box truck instead of a van, we have done that too, we have been living in it for over 5 years now👍😊

Gnocchi - is much tastier if you pre-boil, & then shallow fry quickly to turn it a bit crispy (so the gnocchi look like little roast potatoes). It helps to toss it in sauce too before serving (Aldi do a really nice tomato & grilled peppers stir through sauce), & sprinkle on some cheese. 😀👍

You both are so amazing and sharing your lives and journey with van living. Thank you for this incredible journey we get to live thru you. A note I am catching up with several of your video’s and slowly switching over to vegan type of meals. Today my husband order me a brioche sandwich that I asked with veggies. Sadly when I opened the sandwich I could not eat it. There is was a very generous portion of beef brisket. Before this would have been no problems but now no. I make a chickpea “tuna” mix with smashed chick peas, vega mayo, relish, slivers of carrots and it was great. I think as I continue to watch your video’s I will find other recipes to adapt to that is not so hard after all. Thanks

Have you decided what you're doing with the livery on the van, just a thought if you wanted to keep it maybe see if the door piece you cut out can be overlaid on the new door to give a bit of continuity, no idea if it'll work just a thought.
They sell these small blue footstools at Ikea, going by the height of the cupboards you might need one, they seem pretty high up.

On route to Clitheroe, you could go to Hebden Bridge, then over to Haworth. From Haworth go to Wycoller, then via Colne to Blacko. At Blacko bar turn down the road to Roughlee, follow on to Barley, (if feeling energetic you can climb up Pendle Hill with great views from the top) from Barley drive up the side of Pendle Hill over to Downham, down to Chatburn, then Clitheroe is just down the road. Obviously will really need a few days to do all that, but worth visiting.

For the gnocchi… boil a large pot of water. When it is bubbling away, add 6-8 gnocchi’s. They will first sink. The minute they start floating .. take them out, then put the next 6-8 in. It won’t take too long to do.

Nice, vans looking great. Really like the roof hatch and if you can go out onto it for drinks/filming it’ll be an epic spot. Bet your looking forward to just getting into the bigger space. I know what it’s like being cramped in a small space... even though I’ve just cramped myself into a tiny house now haha. Keep at it guys and never be worried about spooky woods! It’s what keeps the people away.

Nothing wrong with changing your mind at the start of the build, you need to get it right for yourselves and L-T-T with all his experience can make sure it all fits nicely. The van is going to be fantastic - such luxury to have the best of both worlds, fixed bed out of the way with separate lounging area - huge doors for the summer to fling open and a small side entrance for everyday use (just need a parachute to ground level 🤣). I’ve ordered a new van (delay after delay🥱) but have also opted for a max fan instead of aircon unit (which I had before) - just to get fresh air in / circulation will be great. So looking forward to the next instalment….x

Great video , i'm loving watching the progress on your van build, I came to your channel from Liam the terrible, but I have since watched all your videos and I am super impressed by your editing skills Janine, i am a yoga teacher and had to learn how to make videos during lockdown but i have no idea how to edit or where to start, do you have any tips or advice ( for a beginner), many thanks in advance 🙏

The best advice is to just start and publish your first video, you will soon see how you want the video to flow and tell a story 😉
