    While 90% of these fights can be effectively handled with a keyboard and mouse (KBM), the real issue lies in the disparity of skill required between KBM and controller players. At the high end, when comparing a top-tier KBM player to a skilled controller player, the gap isn't significant, and the skill ceiling for both input methods seems fairly close. However, when we look at mid-tier and lower-tier players, the difference becomes much more pronounced. Controller players, especially at these levels, have a clear advantage, with the input method offering more consistent aim assistance and a generally smoother experience. For KBM players, the skill required to make the same shots and execute precise movements is far more demanding, making it a tougher challenge for them in comparison.
    I’ve been a KBM player for a long time, and I never really cared about the controller vs. KBM debate because I could always rely on superior movement and out-maneuvering controller players. But lately, I feel like that movement gap has been closed, and it's made me reconsider things. Now, I’m starting to feel like KBM players have less to compete with. The ease of use and aim assist that controller players have in lower to mid tiers make it harder to compete, and without that clear advantage in movement, it feels like KBM has been left at a disadvantage in terms of overall effectiveness. It’s frustrating because at the high-end, sure, skill matters, but at lower levels, it feels like the controller's input system is just more forgiving, giving them a noticeable edge.

Just the other day, I played a match using a controller for the first time since BO2, and despite feeling awkward and out of practice, I still managed to drop 30 kills in TDM. While it was obvious that I wasn’t playing at my best, the aim assist helped compensate. On the other hand, there’s no way someone could switch to MnK after 12 years and immediately achieve the same result. It’s clear that using a controller is the easier input method thanks to aim assist. It’s hard to see how this is even up for debate. • @H4NN4BLESL4YER
    @H4NN4BLESL4YER 14 дней назад +19

    I've said this for 3 years now . Put a 100 ms delay to directional change on aim assist and kbm would compete perfectly fine with controller . Aim assist isnt too sticky . Its that the thin tracking is impossible to replicate on kbm . In fact it's impossible for humans to replicate. 100 ms would mean those who are truly goaded would still respond quicker than aim assist. But it's a little quicker than 90% of humans reaction times so it would be about on par with a humans reaction time. If anything a little faster but not enough to make any discernable difference

    • @NoMisZx
      @NoMisZx 14 дней назад +3

      100ms is basically instantly, no human can react that fast. fortnite has introduced "human-like AA" it has a 180ms delay and it's still insane, considering the average is 250ms.
      so based on that imo it should be 250ms delay, if someone can react faster, good.

    • @H4NN4BLESL4YER
      @H4NN4BLESL4YER 14 дней назад +3

      @NoMisZx fair enough but you get the point . Thats what would fix aim assist . I play kbm and I can beam people at any range up to a little passed 100 yards . Controller should have aim assist and be able to hot those shots to . But when I played ranked my deaths were almost always because I missed one bullet that controller would have been able to hit . Adding that delay would fix that issue

    • @NoMisZx
      @NoMisZx 14 дней назад +1

      @@H4NN4BLESL4YER imo there should be zero aim assist in competetive modes, well there shouldn't be aim assist anywhere these days but that's obviously not gonna happen.
      but aim assist is redundant with modern tech. in Controllers, Gyro has become so good in the past few years, that it's basically on par with a mouse. so controller player have access to the same aiming capabilities as a MnK player, that's why aim assist wouldn't be needed anymore.
      Raw skills for both sides, fair for everyone

    • @LincolnMargison
      @LincolnMargison 14 дней назад

      What they need to do is delay the information that the aim assist receives, but allow it to predict accurately to compensate for the delay. So the aim assist is seeing the world as it was 150ms ago, but predicting how it should be "now" based on that outdated info. Then you can get decent tracking, aim assist onto stationary targets, but no inhuman reactions to changes or newly visible targets.
      I made a test using this type of delay->prediction model; ruclips.net/video/B_BFUD77SXo/видео.html and this is obviously exaggerated, but here it is being applied to all of the mouse movement with inaccuracies, so it will over/under predict and correct and such. But without that layer of inaccuracy, it would be very effective, just "late" to seeing changes, whilst knowing how delayed it is so that it can compensate and predict 150ms into the future to get bang on target for anything stationary or with a static move speed.

    I think the main thing for me, as a kb+m player with around 6k hours on csgo and probably another 1-2k hours on other fps games, is the time investment. To get to the level I am on on pc in terms of tracking, it takes me very little controller time with rotational aim assist to equal that at short to medium ranges. At long ranges I'm still shit on a controller and would take more time investment. The skill ceiling floor is much lower on pc and the skill ceiling is also higher.

    I think I could compete as an AR player, but not as a sub/obj player.
    And .6 aim assist isn’t much of a problem on cods that are 100 health, as it becomes more of a target acquisition and target switching based game, with some dynamic clicking if you have guns that can one shot to the head.
    The higher you scale the health with the aim assist staying at .6, the larger the gap between controller and mouse and keyboard becomes. Just from last cod being 150 health then switching to 100 health this cod, it almost feels easy. Now you go up to 250 health with the aim assist staying at .6, top tier MnK players can barely compete with above average controller players.
    Top tier controller players can’t compete with average MnK players on overwatch, which should show you that it’s simply an aim assist diff!

      hard agree, MP is way easier on MnK at least for me. Im a TS main and float around Astra to Celestial on the voltaic benchmark and i can say that i have no problem at all in MP on any COD. When it comes to warzone tho, man do i feel cheated sometimes. Granted my tracking isn’t perfect, but i still consider myself having a good skill level on tracking, but close range gunfights feels extremely hard with MnK on Warzone. I honestly used to play Warzone on controller too (since i was sweating n didn’t want to lose the advantage aim assist gives), but the more i play, the more i want to use MnK to truly feel like im winning from 100% my mechanical input.
      This isn’t gonna change and im fully aware, but it seems like the huge majority of people doesn’t understand the intricacies of aiming using a mouse, especially once you dive into techniques n stuff

    the issue with this strong AA is obviously rotational AA with 0ms reaction time. but also how sticky it is, to the point where the average controller player has better aim than 95% of MnK players.
    If someone knows how to use RAA, it's pretty easy to have constantly perfect tracking and it requires much less effort and focus than on MnK / Gyro.
    with raw / manual aiming, you have to be a 100% focused all the time and put in hundreds of hours in aim training or playtime to get the same consistency.<
    this means, a top 1% MnK / Gyro player might not have much struggles to keep up with good controller players, but the average MnK / Gyro players will be at a pertty big disadvantage

  • @TheRedMarauder

    They would really have to mess with Aim Assist. Someone can compete. But against these shooters (Pros), it would be damn near impossible. Locked in on LAN would be crazy hard.
    Pros at this point is the main reason they don't use KBM is because a controller is just the better input.
    If they balanced AA though. I think you would see a pretty good mix and more people be able to join the CDL.

      There's definitely nothing "wrong" if that's what you're implying by saying the setting changes. You can test this, Kovaak has a tool that does perfect 360s (if you tell it your sensitivity) when you press a button in order to check your sensitivity across different games. The input is 100% mapped accurately. It doesn't go faster one day and slower the next or anything like that, it is pixel perfect, so there is no issue with your settings making it inconsistent, it is your aim.
      However, I do agree that aim assist is ridiculous in comparison to KBM. So I understand experiencing the difficulty in relation to controller players, but it isn't your input at fault, it's their input with an aimbot.

  • @Shels_pwnz
    @Shels_pwnz 14 дней назад

    The comparison of the two inputs will drive us all crazy. We all know that the roller is the better of the two. However we play on the keys for a totally seperate reason. It’s not to be the best but rather since of gratification that comes along with it. One has to admit that in every kill there is the tiniest bit of instant gratification that happens in our brain. We know we choose the hard road. We know that 99% of the lobby is on controller. So to go postive or even top chart is a good feeling knowing that you are topping people that couldn’t even play kbm if they tried. We know that we put the work in and that it’s a skill that continues to get better each and everytime we play. Controller I feel like caps out at a certain level of experience and become automatic. When I started my journey as a kbm player it was ruff, but the progression is much more than all my years playing controller. So to me that is why I choose kbm over controller oh and I think it’s much more pleasing to watch.

    Controller takes next to zero skill. The aim assist is crazy. I play on mouse and keyboard to have fun and make it skillful. If I play on controller I can slay but it doesn’t feel like I’m doing the hard part.

  • @kevingetsinger9159
    @kevingetsinger9159 3 дня назад

    So this is ultimately a console game with controllers. I agree that pc players should not be able to cross play because of hacks. Aim assist is not OP by any means. If anything mouse players are more responsive and have an edge. I know this generation grew up on mouse and keyboards and wants to show their countless hours of taping a button on a computer.

  • @theanimazin

    I always knew mnk can compete. It’s really just the fact that people still have the thoughts of dealing with aim assist when playing a game like cod. Like just get good at mnk. Anyone can get good. It’s really not hard.

    • @Vex762
      @Vex762 14 дней назад

      @@theanimazin I feel like your missing the point I don’t think that people don’t wanna try to put in the effort to be good it’s more that I have to have 3k+ hours to be consistent while controller can be very consistent with less than double. It’s also the fact that I know I am aiming 100% myself like if they slide across into a prone or jump across it’s all 100% me doing the tracking and making sure my shots hit while the controller player is layed back feet up chilling hitting these shots. I don’t know how to fix it so I guess it just sucks for now

    • @theanimazin
      @theanimazin 14 дней назад

      @Vex762 I respect your response. I was simply just acknowledging that yes it's harder to progress in some ways compared to controller. But the progress will always be up to you simply due to the fact that a keyboard is a keyboard and a mouse is a mouse. We gotta get good at 2 separate inputs while a controller is one. Plus a controller with 2 sticks that are exactly the same except for what they do makes it easier to adapt to the various movements and aiming in game. Cod is a controller game.
      Mnk is completely different. If you're on PC, especially a good PC, you have every advantage. Don't forget Windows allows you to use multiple input devices. That includes keyboards. I'll tell you what I've been doing. I have my main keyboard that I use with my left hand and another with all the key caps taken out except for the regular enter key and the number pad enter key for my right foot. I use the regular enter key for walk and the number pad enter key for fire mode.
      It's not cheating to have additional buttons from another keyboard for different in game actions to be used by different body parts. Even a mouse with side buttons is good to use in cod. Fps gaming doesn't always have to be exclusively played with your hands. Especially if you're not able to walk in cod. Walking is very important for recoil control, aiming accuracy and more importantly what you decide to do before, while and after walking.
      All I'm saying is both inputs are hard in their own rights. Mnk is just naturally harder especially in cod because it's just you pressing a bunch of buttons. But it can be done. Most mnk players I've seen don't ever walk. I promise you even as an average player like me, being able to walk in game much more comfortably makes your accuracy so much better.

  • @Jonville13

    In one clip you say it’s rotational,aim assist and then other clips when you say nothing to see here they are literally moving their left thumb stick while shooting and go off target. It’s crazy to think that controller players can’t make some precise movements in a narrow hallway like come on. Plus black ops 6 nerfed aim assist close up for controller players which kind of defeats your argument with most of these encounters. Lastly if aim assist is so crazy why would you compare it with players who have fantastic aim? If it is indeed super strong, why not watch crappy players where it be more noticeable ?

      @CODPlayer033-yt  8 дней назад

      My point didn't come across properly to you. My point in this video was that most kills are not all that crazy and that keyboard & mouse can likely compete in this league, because rotational aim assist is generally not helping as much as people think. Hope that clears it up

    I will never understand the point of videos like this. Just seems like a waste of time/energy. competative call of duty has been played on controller for 17 years (I don't care if it started on mouse & keyboard). Even if someone was "good enough" on mouse & key to compete against the best CoD players in the world using controller, no CDL team on the planet is going to risk bringing in a keyboard & mouse player unless they were CONSIDERABILY better than all other controller pros which will never happen.
