    so if you had it to do over again -- all pressure-treated lumber for the frame? (this has been great, thanks so much!)

    Personally, the transom should be more robust doubled 2x6 or even 2x8. You can also put too many screws into a small area on dimensional lumber and weaken the connection.

    Need to use deck brackets and or joist hangers with bolts and nuts.

      Yes you are absolutely correct. When I build my next boat that is absolutely the plan for every jointed section.
