- Def Leppard is joining forces with Mötley Crüe, Poison, and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts for the summer 2020 Stadium Tour.
“Extra” senior music correspondent Adam Weissler spoke with the band, who have been together since 1977. What’s their secret?
Joe Elliott said, “We share a dressing room. We don’t have the diva thing… We like each other, we warm up, we joke, we try clothes on, and we laugh at each other… It keeps it real.”

The reason why I love Def Leppard is because these guys have this amazing Chemistry. They support one another. They motivate one another. They get along so well. Def Leppard is one of the greatest rock bands ever 💓
Viv said when he tried out for the band, the interview was more focused on his personality and how he would get along with the rest of the guys than on his guitar work. These guys really like one another and working together.

Bought Pyromania in 1983, and went back to buy their first two albums a week later. I wasn't listening to them in 1980/81 at 12/13 years old; hadn't even heard of them yet... that didn't happen until age 15, thanks to MTV. Loved them instantly; had a crush on Rick Allen. 😉

Saw them at Seminole Hollywood hardrock in 2005. Great performance one of the best I ever saw. One of my favorite bands ever with Bon Jovi before Sambora left. I would love to meet these guys. Seem really cool.

Vivian still the odd man out after 28+ years
Yep...Sadly he is a spare tire in this band which is a shame because he is 10 times the guitarist Phil Collen is. Its a great gig for him because he's making a ton of cash and a lasting career and good for him I that regard....but as a guitarist it would be so unsatisfying to have to play such a backseat role when he has so much talent as a player. I saw him in the Last in Line a few years back doing all of the old Dio material and he was just on fire.

Go take a look at when he joined the band back on the adrenalize tour. he was running around the stage goofing around havign a good ole time.. He has been through ALOT .. he had Hodgkin's lymphoma and had to have chemo every 3 weeks. Lost all his hair.. All that takes a toll on your mind and body. But i guarentee that he is NOT an after thought in the band and has his imput when they are making music. Im quite sure he has a personality and can have fun. He just chooses not to take that much during interviews. Which is cool with me. he does great when he burning up the stings on stage. which is all that really matters.
How is playing Steve Clark equal to taking a backseat? They play and sung the same amount. They’re both lead and rhythm guitarists Viv just does it with a shirt

Their staying power is amazing and that is because they are only rock stars on stage. Offstage, they do not life the stereotypical rock star life. Even Joe Elliott tells them to check their egos at the door.

No doubt. He smokes Phil in every way as a player and he is an after thought with this band. I like Def Leppard but its criminal to make a player as good as Vivian is essentially be a spare tire.

I'm sure they all know their talents.Maybe Vivian is happy just being part of the "foundation" for this band.He's doing what is called for on a professional basis.He has his own projects as well.In his project he can let loose and has his players to do their thing for him.All professionals they are!!!!
