Without question this is the greatest managerial blow up of all time. When I build my time machine the 1st thing I'm going to do is go back in time to be at this game.
I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my life at a sports clips. Any time I feel down or sad. I put this clips on and it makes me feel so good lol
Are we all just going to ignore the perfect throw of the grenade, from his knees, behind the mound? It landed 3 inches from its target. Let the man argue strikes if his aim is that good.
the fact that Al Green comes on the PA system as soon as he starts losing his mind makes this just about the best thing i've ever seen...i cried of laughter.
this guy is still the manager of the team and not only that, his team won the southern league championship last year. I don't mind it at all. I think its great entertainment, and I'm sure the players laughed their butt off. If I was a player, I would love my manager that much more who was willing to make a fool of himself to make a point. We need more emotion in baseball. This is a prime example of what we are lacking. I'm sure everyone got a kick out of it.
I love how that smooth R and B music is playing in the background. Goes nice with the tirade of wellman and the raucous fans. what u think? Nice touch ay.
vietnam flashback style meltdown....this guy is the man...I don't think any manager has ever got his moneys worth in such a spectacular way...nothing is quite as amazing as a great manager meltdown
@uvisa The big thing with covering the plate with dirt is not only explaining his disagreement with the strike zone but also that the ump is in charge of sweeping it up. lol - really!!! It's a lost 70's art of going off as a manager... Billy Martin and Earl Weaver perfected the craft.
Wellman and the braves are back in town July 23rd. WDEF News 12 Sports Director Rick Nyman shot the famous video that is all over youtube, and will have the honor of throwing out the first rosin bag on the first game of the series July 23rd. Numerous other activities throughout the games will be added to honor the event.
I may be mistaken but I believe the exact point his progression up the Braves managerial ladder stalled was when he went full trench warfare with the rosin bag grenade. Everything else is normal angry manager repertoire.
Anyone else notice this drama began with Manager Phillip Wellman questioning the umpire’s eyesight…. and ended with him exiting stage right thru a Chattanooga Eye Institute door?😂😂😂😆
I agree. The crawling thing is the funniest thing I have ever seen in baseball, period. Just absolutely classic. I was dying laughing the first time I seen that.
It was not a rock. It was a bag that pitchers use to dry their hands. It is like chalk. He was pretending the bag was a grenade and the mound was a bunker. His enemy: the ump.
A lot of people point to the grenade throwing but the best part to me is him making that huge home plate with his finger, telling the ump that his calls suck lol
if i remember correctly mikulik blew up at the guy for calling his guy out on a steal... wellman was arguing pitching calls on his guys. So thats why wellman buried the plate, and drew his own probably to say. "Is this wat your strike zone looks like?" as it was bigger than the actual one. Then grenade probably served in the army and bases just to say go to hell or something...
Him low crawling and acting like he was throwing a grenade was an all time classic 😂😂. Not even Lou Piniella can compete with this.
Earl Weaver would have been proud of this meltdown 😂
Randy Meyers did it in Cincinnati about 30 years ago.
Without question this is the greatest managerial blow up of all time. When I build my time machine the 1st thing I'm going to do is go back in time to be at this game.
Make sure you predict it too
😂😂😂😂 me too
If you've been ejected, you might as well get your money's worth, and he sure did that.
the best part was when he tossed third base into center field like a frisbee, and he crawled to the pitchers mound and tossed that dust bag.
The fact that he got to go through this whole spiel without anyone interrupting or dissuading him was so great xD
And the players moving out of his way while opposing team player is laughing
The whole crawling through the muck and tossing the rosin bag grenade was truly inspired! More managers need to be this creative.
Just when you think it can't possibly get any better.... the grenade.
Until the grenade, he was at Lou Piniella level meltdown. With the grenade he made his own level
@@Mark-sj3xb seriously haha
Lmfao
Yes.. that was the best part!
that rosin bag grenade was epic he was getting his call of duty on
TheJustinamazing best part. lol
I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my life at a sports clips. Any time I feel down or sad. I put this clips on and it makes me feel so good lol
I concur. This is required viewing at least once a week for me 😂
Coaching rants and meltdowns are funny.
First time I’ve seen someone steal third then steal second.
Technically he stole third, then second, then third again.
@@Inframidi I’m dying 😂😂😂
@@cindyinnew thanks for replying so I could watch this again lol
they're the away team. the booing only adds to the ambiance of such a magical moment.
Are we all just going to ignore the perfect throw of the grenade, from his knees, behind the mound? It landed 3 inches from its target.
Let the man argue strikes if his aim is that good.
@Joel Garcia I love how the umpire didn’t move an inch while watching and sticking a piece of gum in his mouth. God I love baseball
i love how hes so detailed in covering home plate with dirt and like patting it
It was like a cake bake
Bring this manager up to the major leagues. This is quality television.
Phillip Wellman: comes storming from the dugout
Bases: *chuckle* I'm in danger.
that fake hand grenade was the most creative thing ive seen a manager do, nice throw btw
the fact that Al Green comes on the PA system as soon as he starts losing his mind makes this just about the best thing i've ever seen...i cried of laughter.
He didn't hold RB long enough to cook the grenade.
Impact grenade
R1*
the umpire doesn't seem too concerned about the bean bag grenade that landed by his feet at 1:59...i'd be ducking for cover.
+Nick Falletta Brent keeps his cool, like a pro!
You are 100% correct: It’s a miracle he didn’t lose 2 legs. I would have been running for the dugout.
IN-COM-IIIIING!
That rosin grenade nearly killed that umpire!
EPIC....watched 100 times n still laugh at army crawl...kudos to you
the music in the background, makes it that much more awesome
the "crawling through the trenches" bit is probably the funniest thing i have ever seen during a blowup. Give this guy an applause!!!
Him doing the army crawl and throwing a PERFECT grenade is the funniest thing I’ve seen in a sports game
gotta love the home crowd cheering on the away manager
They knew him well. He used to manage at Chattanooga.
Best manager tirade I have ever seen. God Bless that man...thats ENTERTAINMENT folks! ;)
I love it! Those people at that game sure got a show! Also, having Al Green playing over the speakers was a wonderful touch.
Everyone’s talking about the grenade throw, and rightfully so but him drawing the gigantic plate after covering it.. 🤣
The greatest baseball skipper of all time!!!!!
No one else is even close.
My hero!! Doesn't get much funnier than that! The grenade toss was priceless.
I've seen many manager blow ups but this might be the best. Major props for the grenade throw, quite original....LOL!
that clip just made me relize im alive. the best thing i have ever seen
This is why baseball is the best game in earth
John Thompson WAS
@@benmiddleton9984 Still is.
perfect form on the grenade toss. would have made my Drill Sargent proud.
As soon as he runs out and throws the hat...you know he’s lit.

believe it or not, this guy was only suspended 3 games, and is still the manager of this team.. last year he led to a championship...
Love how al green's lets stay together song is in the background!
@uvisa The big thing with covering the plate with dirt is not only explaining his disagreement with the strike zone but also that the ump is in charge of sweeping it up. lol - really!!! It's a lost 70's art of going off as a manager... Billy Martin and Earl Weaver perfected the craft.
LOL!!! Soldier of Fortune!! Looks like his player is laughing when Philip is crawling. lol
This makes me laugh every single time.
Manager of the year hands down.

Best ejection ever. The rosin bag grenede was priceless.
Absolutely brilliant. Wellman should get an Oscar for this ejection - pure gold. Army crawl & grenade rosin bag - LOL
Brings a tear to my eye.
Ah, baseball at its absolute finest. Great memories from the game I love.
Dude--whoever started playing "Let's Stay Together" is a freakin' genius.
i love the 3rd base coach pacing around like the games still goin on
he definetly must have practiced that grenade toss. that was right on the money
i dont think i could ever be an ump, because i wouldnt be able to hold in the laughter
:D that was awesome, i've never seen a coach like that... he's got his opinion a fights for it! Nice!
Now coaching for the San Antonio Missions, Phillip "the Base Man" Wellman!
what makes this even funnier is that it was on the road
At the end, was the walk of awesomeness. Screw the walk of shame :D
Effin Brilliant ! He deserves an Oscar for that performance ! Hilarious !
this is what makes MLB so exciting. you never know whats going to happen
that grenade toss was pretty spot on

this is a guy who makes baseball more interesting. (love the Al Green as the background music).
Legendary moment
Anytime I need a laugh I watch this one lol. The 2b laughing as Wellman heads to right field to leave is hilarous.
Best.
Meltdown.
EVER!!!
Love it!
He didn’t just get his money’s worth; he got the entire bank’s vault
I agree. The crawling thing is the funniest thing I have ever seen in baseball, period. Just absolutely classic. I was dying laughing the first time I seen that.
Don't know why, but the Al Green music in the background made it that much more funnier lol
1:01 stone cold steve austin lol
Managers do the most maturest thing when they get angry.
I still almost pee myself when he goes prone and launches the rosin bag like a grenade. Funny stuff
that was a great one-man show of frustration! :-D
The way he pats the dirt all gentle at :38 cracks me up every time.
Quite possibly the greatest thing that’s ever happened on a baseball field.
When he twirls his fingers at him is when i cried
I died
I nominate Al Green for Best Performance in a Supporting Role.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
LMAO the door he went through at the end said Chattanooga Institute. For him it should say anger management institute
this guy does my cousins batting lessons, so the army crawl and grenade throw is a big family joke, my older cousins use to do it all of the time
hace 15 años ya y aun me sigo riendo de la loquera de este man jajaja
This is by far the best ejection of all time!!!
All I can say is wow and LOLLOLOLOLOLOL One of the best "explosions" ever
haha that guy is awesome. He made my day. Someone get him his own TV show.
It was not a rock. It was a bag that pitchers use to dry their hands. It is like chalk. He was pretending the bag was a grenade and the mound was a bunker. His enemy: the ump.
The fans love it and it's about the show, and the fans excitment. Good acting on Wellman's part!!
The best runner on the team! Wellman with 2 steals today!!! HAHA!
Nothing like MInor League ball. Love it. Where was he when they were casting Semi-Pro with WF?
the grenade shit had me dying
one of the funniest things ive ever seen
My right ear loved this video...
funny that "Lets Get Together" is playing thought all this. lol
Amazing
What a fuckin legend
I think i was gonna die when he started crawling , best ever, along with O'neil kicking a baseball
A lot of people point to the grenade throwing but the best part to me is him making that huge home plate with his finger, telling the ump that his calls suck lol
That umpire just suffered an EPIC FAIL
Thank You Shimmy~!!
As he went through the outfield wall door, you just know reality hit and thought "what the heck did I just do?"
when he started bear crawling, I start corpsing 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
if i remember correctly mikulik blew up at the guy for calling his guy out on a steal... wellman was arguing pitching calls on his guys.
