His look in that video is absolutely demonic! And of course, he is playing a killer bass at the same time as singing, ad I've always felt that the difficulty goes up approximately proportional to the square of the number of parts - whether instrumental or vocal.
I am a Nightwish fan but I hate the fans constantly fighting over who is the best vocalist between Floor, Tarja and Anette. They are all talented in their on ways.
I'd definitely recommend the End of an Era version. Cheesy visuals aside, it sounds just a lot more raw and visceral than the later (brilliantly interpreted, emotional and technically flawless) Floor version.

I think with Marko's growl you need Tarja's operatic tone. Again this is just for me. I love them both but this song is special for me.
This is a Marco song. ONCE is the album where Nightwish truly 'gelled' as a band and just slapped the metal world around like a bitch! This was the absolute PEAK of the Tarja era. The DVD 'End of an Era' was filmed in their hometown with their families in the audience. It's pretty much the finest example of Nightwish live with Tarja Turunen belting it out with all her power she can muster, being sick that day before the show. The ironic thing is that it's also the FINAL performance we get from Tarja as a member of Nightwish. This is the song that pretty much set Nightwish up as the JUGGERNAUT they've grown into since then.
It's perfectly fine to prefer one version of the song to another, I despise how aggressive the Nightwish army can get over the singer drama! Let's just enjoy the music.

So I have not seen anyone mention it. Since the start of symphonic metal there where to major bands Nightwish and Within Temptation. Within Temptation did a album called Hydra which is a duet with Tarja. It was a song that fans of this genre waited for over 20 years to come out.
I like to refer to that music video as “Aggressively 2004”. Wacken crowds hit different, something about 100,000 people screaming never fails to get me.
How come no one ever brings up Wishmaster in these requests? To me, that is quintessential Tarja. It's a great song too. Probably because it's the least "Floor" song out there? Same with Over the Hills and Far Away. Floor is my favorite Nightwish vocalist but she can't get close to what Tarja brings to those songs.
" I did find a Waken 2013 version with Floor" OH WHAT A PITY!. We will just have to make do.... This is a perfect illustration of the difference of Floor and Tarja backing. Tarja fills in the emptty space and Floor gives Marko a mountain to stand on and sing.

Excellent reaction. I really enjoy the double reactions from different eras that you provide and not because of the different vocalists (both are superb). It's great to hear about things related to the equipment and tech over the years. It's very interesting and informative and the tank facts are awesome. Keep it up!

I am a new Nightwish fan and a real Floor girl (hey, I am dutch!), but I agree: I prefer Tarja in this song. I also have to say that I love all five of the singers with their own qualities.
To do: NW Beauty and the Beast live with Tony Kakko from Sonata Arctica. Very early but still good quality for it's age. Different band members, different gear. Still need to see some Brothers of Metal, and Battle Beast.
Among the many songs of Nightwish with Tarja, written for Tarja there is certainly also BLASS THE CHILD, and the live version of the DVD END OF AN ERA is incredible. In comparison with Floor's interpretation of BLESS THE CHILD, this thing, in my opinion, feels even more. Once again, thanks for your reaction !!
Isn't the metal scene just beautiful? I miss festivals so much.... just a whole lot of awesome, amazing, unique people getting together to party with the bands they love to the music they are all passionate about... it's so fantastic to see the emotion in people's faces in those live shows...
Hey Tank. It would be really nice if you could make Tarot Wings Of Darkness double reaction. I mean that 80s video and that newer. I think that would be really fun to watch👍 Thank you for nice videos✌
Glad to still see you doing Nightwish. Would still like to see you react to more Tarja stuff. Walking in the Air is a great song that's from the "From Wishes to Eternity" show. Also Stone People/Creek Mary's Blood from "End of an Era" is also a good one.
It is very interesting and commendable that you, as one of those who have only recently discovered Nightwish, do so much research and give information about every song you play in the video. It’s just proof of how much respect you have and how much you like Nightwish. Personally, I'm glad you're researching those details. You're a bigger fan than someone who's been listening to Nightwish for years.
News Flash- Last Friday there is a band called Walteri released their new video is featuring Marko. There video is called Below Zero. Marco look and sounds fantastic! Makes me happy he slowly coming back to music!
Great reaction as per usual and love you mentioning my favourate band Rammstein, the song that got me into Nightwish was Nemo, being English they were literally unheard of in the early 00's. Also agree that Tarja did this song perfectly, alas great vid keep it up !
There is a live version with Tarja on the DVD "End of an era". It is very cool. I loved your proposal to react to the band's music videos + live performances ❤. I think it would be really cool if you did a triple reaction (music video + live with Tarja + live with Floor, unfortunately I don't know many live performances by Anette with good quality). So, in addition to the studio versions, which are also great (some even better than the live performances, in my opinion), you could get to know a little more of Tarja's work live, since most of the Nightwish videos that I saw on your channel are live performances with Floor. Thanks!
When Marco joined the band, they started tuning down to D, so I think in concert, at least, (End of an Era), when you see the white guitar he is in standard tuning, and when purple, he is in D
17 year old Tank needed more After Forever in his life: double kick, growls AND Floor killing it. But, that would've created a ripple in the continuum and we might be watching you react to Stereolab or Chumbawamba (hey, they're really good bands in their own turf).
Why!?!?!? WHY can't I hit the like button a hundred times !? Love the fact that you are able to pick up on some of the similarities to some other bands, love how you pick out the individual nuances of the music as well. Man you're just such a natural on the camera, and you articulate what you're thinking very well. Love the tank facts dude! Keep smashing these out, I'll be here for all of them. Edit: I just wish the Tarja version featured her vocals a bit louder :-( Its one of my favorites of her. You never have that problem with Floor LOL
I'm so with your on the crowd getting you all the feelings. There's a point earlier in the Wacken show between songs when Floor is working the crowd where she asks them to all scream. Her expression and groan of delight at their response shows just how viscerally they all feel that massive crowd's response. Especially since this was likely the largest audience Floor had ever had. It's a little detail, but it shows how much they love their art.
This was for the longest time my easy #1 favourite NW song, nowadays it has some heavy competition from Ghost Love Score, Dark Chest of Wonders (both with Tarja) and The Greatest show on earth.... But everytime I see the music video for WIHAA, those looks that Tarja gives the camera makes my entire body shiver, in a good way, god that woman is not only extremely talented, she's bloody gorgeous too!
This! This Song! It was 2006, I was on my Evanescence high and I was looking for bands like them, and I came across a band called 'Nightwish' with a song called 'Wish I Had an Angel' and the edgy teenager in me was like 'god, that's the cheesiest bandname and song name ever' but I still gave it a try...14 years later, I still can't let Nightwish go! Arguably, Wish I...Angel is one of Nightwish's more 'commercial' songs that was meant to be more mainstream (like Nemo, Ever Dream, Amaranth, Elan, etc.) but still an enjoyable tune! Watching this was like a trip down memory lane (Floor pun intended), and I can't wait for you to hit more of the older songs like Bless the Child, Gethsemane, End of All Hope, etc.!
People were freaking out about your announcement that NIGHTWISH Wednesdays were over, but I knew you couldn't stay away too long...there are plenty more suggestions for them, to be sure and I'm confident that the Army will let you know, as will I. Thanks for another great reaction, and yeah, it was kind of strange to see the white EV-1 this time, huh? 🤔👍💖
Totally my original Nightwish era. Love this song so much. Tarja has my heart too in this era. But I love the double reaction. How gorgeous does Floor look and her performance super sultry. Great track and love this album. Keep up your journey Tank! It’s worth it! 🤘🏻
Thank you for another great doubble from Nightwish and ending with the old faitful Wacken. Looking forward to more Nightwish and your Sabaton Saturdays! Still have my hopes up for you reacting to "While your lips are still red" live from Wembley. Miss Troy!
Nightwish on a tuesday ... not sure if I can deal with that... And I still have no idea what to do tomorrow. I might even end up listening to Nightwish on my own. Without anyone pausing and commenting. Man that's gonna be weird...
great video as always. i listen to nightwish from wishmaster era. i experienced all the changes in lineup and i love all 3 singers. all 3 have something different to give so enjoy them all and stop arguing about the best one. love your videos tank. hello from greece
I remember sharing this video with my cousin in 2005 maybe, and I hated it, thought it was ridiculous, but that was me in 2005. Glad I changed my way of thinking about music.
2nd Nightwish song I ever heard. Solidified my love for them. Begged my parents for the Once album when that came out. So many years later and I am still here^^
Marco's beard doesnt look that much longer than yours @TankTheTech, so you could definitely try braiding! I like seeing the older videos, they do look so young here!
I remember when this was released, and I though the drums at the start sounded so "dance music". These days the song is just awesome :) edit: I´m leaning a bit more towards floor on this one, she brings a bit more energy to the vocals. Both versions are good in their way though.
So imagine listening Once being the first Nightwish Album you listen to...it starts with Dark Chest of Wonders, which as we know is incredible...so you think "there's no way it can get better than that" and then for the first time ever you get Marco's vocals, which in this song is quite intense. This explains my first experience hearing Marco.
The real mark of a pro is giving an objective neutral comment aside from personal preferences. Taste and preferences are personal so have to respect that as always. And you're doing a great job, as per usual :-) ! ( BTW I prefer the Floor Live Version)
Another Tank reaction for my entertainment for my breakfast Yes, totally up for that 🥰 Btw, I'm almost sure Tarja still does this one live - I think I remember she did when I saw her live a few years ago ^^'
My introduction to the band back in the late 90's was Wishmaster. Not sure they play it live these days but worth checking out! Its still the definition of Nightwish for me
Love seeing your reactions to new gear with a band you've watched 20+ videos of!! Still saying, She is my Sin live 2003 might give you some more fun surprises, and a double reaction wouldn't go amiss!
Wooot! I think you’d really dig Slaying the Dreamer, it highlights Marko and Tarja really well. And it’s just so SICK, one of my all time favorites! 🙌🏻
Nightwish is the only band where I actually prefer and add their live versions to my playlists instead of the studio versions. It's nothing against the studio versions, but I think Toumas really knocks it out of the park for the shows.
Most music groups have some bad song of their own. What’s a mystery to me is that in the 15 years I’ve been listening to Nightwish, I still can’t realize that there isn’t a single one of their bad songs, but they get better and better with each new album. Unbelievable. They are simply a class unto themselves.
Even if it's on your own time I definitely suggest checking out the performance of this from End of an Era - it was the final song in the set, meaning it was the final song Tarja ever performed with the band. The visual shots on it make it noticeable at the end how much the weight of the situation was affecting the guys, mainly Tuomas - instead of reacting and being happy and cheery for the end of the show, most of them had their arms up or were heavily sighing, knowing "this is it".
Very glad to see a reaction pop up so soon after last Wednesday. And a well chosen double at that! The catalog is big enough to keep you going for awhile Tank. And honestly, I want you to do so many more so soon in large part just so YOU can get to listen to more on your own playlist like you mentioned this week. Next recommendation (as I mention every week lol): Dead Boys Poem from Buenos Aires with the drop dead AMAZING performance by Queen Jansen.
Hahaha, i thought by myself: jeeeez, I know this background music... Dev for shure... Then I realized, I have the vinyl of this SYL-record lying on my record-player :D Nice reaction to a f*ing monster of a song! Really liked it! all the best from Austria!
I have always loved this song. Floor's version I the only one I've heard till now. This is the only song I can think of where Tarja doesn't go "Full Opera" straight through. Sounded good.
Thanks dude. This double reaction was great.I love Floor but I think also that this is Tarja's song. You are my favourite youtuber right now. I like your reactions and videos and it is very nice that you are Nightwish fan now. Greetings from finland.
When watching the full concert, my favourite part of Wish I had an Angel is that this was the song where Marko introduced Floor to the crowd (specifically between Wish I had and Angel and She's my Sin). I found it really interesting to do that introduction after two songs almost as if those two songs were used as a gauge to see the audience reaction to the performance. Still great reaction video man. This is one of my favourite songs and I couldn't click on the video fast enough to hear what you had to say. Stay Safe and Keep it going man!
As for me, who was first introduced to Nightwish in the verry late 90´s and been blown away by the Wishmaster LP, I was verry happy about those guys finally getting the attention they deserve when the songs released from the "Once" album hit the charts here in germany. You said you wouldn´t have liked it back then because it had no doublebass in it and stuff and tbh, i had that thought too... It was softer then what I was used to by the band then, maybe more commercial but I really enjoyed them getting so popular and the people noticing a great band that has been underestimated for so long... And yes, you are right, some are just Tarja songs, undeniable! :)
Wacken was one superb performance, but somehow I digged more that older 2004 version. First time for me as well, that I liked Tarja's version more. That 2004 version was more nasty and grittier, more industrial sound and Tarja showed more color through her singing., outside of normal operatic style. Loved also Marko's devilish face expressions, during singing " Wish I Had An Angel'!! And Emppu without purple EV-1!!!
Totally a Floor fan here, but there are still "Tarja" and "Anette" songs for me, too. This is one of them, another example is "Deep Silent Complete" and some softer songs from Anette, like "Meadows from Heaven", "Turn Loose The Mermaids" or "Eva". And on a side note, the professional movie film crew used for this one really knew what it was doing. You could for example take every single frame with Tarja on it and use it as a poster on the wall. Afaik they used this song as film music for some obscure monster movie I haven't seen and the film crew for that movie took the time to film this music video in the Schlachthof in Wiesbaden, Germany.
Can't wait until you get to Tarot. Been a fan since basically 5 minutes after I first heard him on this song back in... 2006, I think? Pyre of Gods and Wings of Darkness are great entry points. Also, Marko is (predictably) great with Delain. Also also, I never realized Tarja was doing backing vocals for Marko until I heard these back to back. I don't know what they were thinking burying them so far in the mix.
Tarja always loves singing in slo-mo in music videos. You'll have to do something really old, like "The Pharaoh Sails to Orion" from their live concert video from 2000. You'll have some slightly different gear to talk about there, at least with the bassist, because it's not Marko.
Tank ended Nightwish Wednesdays because he couldn't wait a full week to do his next reaction.
You may be on to something...
Hopefully!!!

I am a new Nightwish fan and a real Floor girl (hey, I am dutch!), but I agree: I prefer Tarja in this song. I also have to say that I love all five of the singers with their own qualities.
I agree that this song was written with Tarja in mind but what makes Floor so good is that she makes all of the covers she sings her own.
also in the case of songs as old and as popular as this one, i'm sure they're always looking for ways to spice them up and mix things up
@@emmathecrocodile that makes sense. I would loose some interest in playing older songs over and over.
To do: NW Beauty and the Beast live with Tony Kakko from Sonata Arctica. Very early but still good quality for it's age. Different band members, different gear.
Still need to see some Brothers of Metal, and Battle Beast.
Yes please to all of this
Among the many songs of Nightwish with Tarja, written for Tarja there is certainly also BLASS THE CHILD, and the live version of the DVD END OF AN ERA is incredible.
And Bleeding dust!
And Pyre of Gods.
And the whole of the undead indeed live set!
hey Tank, Over the hills and far away song reaction would be awesome :)
Glad to still see you doing Nightwish. Would still like to see you react to more Tarja stuff. Walking in the Air is a great song that's from the "From Wishes to Eternity" show. Also Stone People/Creek Mary's Blood from "End of an Era" is also a good one.
One of my favorite Nightwish songs of all time. Love it
It is very interesting and commendable that you, as one of those who have only recently discovered Nightwish, do so much research and give information about every song you play in the video.
Makes me happy he slowly coming back to music!
but in the end, we all know this is really a Marko song XD
ABSOLUTELY CORRECT
Still one of the best Nightwish songs ever... got it on my gym playlist.
My all time favourite Nightwish song, glad you did a double header!
I love to see older Nightwish videos. Tarja looks so good in these MVs. I remember i had a star crush on her in my 20s. :)
This was the song that got me hooked on Nightwish back in 2004. Was lucky enough to experience them Live at Copenhell in 2018
Saying it again: Gethsemane, live in Helsinki 1999 and on the Decades tour in Buenos Aires.
Yep, this was the first Nightwish song I heard too. Don't remember from where, probably came up while listening to Pandora at work.
Absolutely right. First saw them 20 years ago in Canada when they were touring Wishmaster, was really good show! The ride since then has been awesome!
Check out "The Siren" from EOAE. That is also a very good Marco song. And can hear Tarja sing a bit different than usual.
Haha. One of these days!
@@TankTheTech You could do it just once for one of his Tarot or solo videos :)
After this, I watched the MV for Bless the Child and I keep on forgetting /not/ to be surprised with Tuomas' red hair lmao
I remember when this was released, and I though the drums at the start sounded so "dance music". These days the song is just awesome :)
edit: I´m leaning a bit more towards floor on this one, she brings a bit more energy to the vocals. Both versions are good in their way though.
It's not just the energy for me - Tarja performs the songs, exceptionally well, but Floor BECOMES the songs, and that is even better!
Still love this song even after all these years ❤️❤️❤️ Marko rocks it!
Another Tank reaction for my entertainment for my breakfast Yes, totally up for that 🥰
Btw, I'm almost sure Tarja still does this one live - I think I remember she did when I saw her live a few years ago ^^'
I know I've said it before, I need to see Nightwish in concert. Keep It Up
A Nightwish reaction on my birthday? I LOVE IT!!!
Happy Birthday!
Discovering Nightwish and Blind Guardian at 17 was lifechanging for me 💙
Very glad to see a reaction pop up so soon after last Wednesday.
I love watchin Hank start to tear up during a song..."Music is just so Fuckin Powerful"!!! 💙Nightwish!!!
Hahaha, i thought by myself: jeeeez, I know this background music... Dev for shure...
Then I realized, I have the vinyl of this SYL-record lying on my record-player :D
Nice reaction to a f*ing monster of a song! Really liked it!
all the best from Austria!
This song and Nemo were my first exposures to Nightwish and they hold a special place in my heart.
Kiitos ja kippis!!! 🇫🇮🤘
Was thinking while you were watching the official video, finally Tank is going to have some different gear to talk about. 😀
Man Emmpu is doing some yoga or some shit... That was a sick low lunge!😂😂😂
This was a crazy amazing reaction 2 for the price of 1🤣🤣 Thanks Tanks.
You mean 'Alone in the dark'. Uwe Boll directed that movie, and also the video.
@@nielsdegroot9138 Thanks, TIL :-)
Sahara is also another Anette song and in my opinion VERY underrated.
