There were so many negative reviews after "Human nature" came out, jesus, all that "nightwish is gone", " bring back metal", "album is a disaster". My point is, Tuomas is a Musician, a Composer, this is his nature. He already deserves make music according to his own vision no matter what's gonna others say about it. Just appreciate his talent. Tank, your reactions always true. I'm here on your channel since the very beginning and you doing great job, thank you!

I've said it before, but metalheads are far more narrow-minded and constipated than your average bruh-rap-hip-hop fan. NOT ALL OF THEM (c), but most.

Anyone saying that kind of things don't realize Nightwish is not your usual "metal" band. Nightwish does... Nightwish things. Tuomas, Floor and the rest of the band are in a league of their own. You can't put a label on them, they are true artists. Let's just enjoy them while we can.

Tuomas wants to make cinematic music. That’s his passion. When Nightwish are done he will be making movie scores full time.

*Reminded me a lot of all the negative blabber after MetallicA released "LOAD", "S&M" or later "St. Anger". What had the people expected? That MetallicA would release the "Black Album" over and over again? With tiny, tiny variations here and there....but overall sound the same like in 1991?* 🤔🙄

Tumoas and Floor were having a bit trouble arranging the ending of this song. At the end of the day they weren't happy with it.
When floor went home she tried again on her own and came up with this endind all on her own. The first few times I heard this, I cried because I felt that it touched my soul!

I love the thought that goes into this music as well.. Eugene Shoemaker was taken to the southern hemisphere of the moon and his ashes landed in the Shoemaker crater, that was named after him.. but, the southern hemisphere of the moon constantly has the earth on it's horizon.. which would mean from his prospective, on the moon, he would be seeing a forever "earth rise" like the song says.. and the spoken quote from Romeo and Juliet.. That's the same quote that his wife had engraved on the ern that carried his ashes to the moon..

The composition part of Nightwish's songs are the most intricate in my opinion. They focus on the storytelling rather than "Look how good I am" and that's one of the things I love about them.

Floor said that she's recently had a breakthrough with her operatic vocals. That ending was absolutely stunning and gives me chills every time I listen to it. Heck, Tarja's classical voice juxtaposed to the metal sound was what got me into Nightwish in the first place. And now hearing this from Floor? More please!
P.S. you should react to Amaranth when you get the chance. Fun fact, the music video is Nightwish's most viewed video on RUclips.

Outstanding the combination of drums and heavenly voice, than the cut with the Shakespeare poem by Tuomas wife and finally the climax of an epic as hell ending.

Hello and greetings from Vienna/ austria
i just stumbled in your video here, because of that song and wanna say a few things ^^
first of all ... thank you. you did the background resaerch and you learned abaout the story of eugene shoemaker, befor the react. and it was a great react to it. love it
    gosh! that song!
It hit me so hard in my feels! Especially the part with the child like voice, with the shakespear quote, and the laudato si - ad astra part after. Every time, i hear this as a grown man in the age of 41 years old, my eyes almost became a river. In deed, this song is very special for me!
beside that i'm a absolutly metalhead since year 2000, i'm a life long science fiction fan in general, big fan of star gate, big big fan of star wars and absolutly hardcore fan of the star trek universe. star trek is as importand for me as the bible for a christian priest, i guess you get the idea. every time i wachted some star trek episodes of one of the show's, or one of the films, or every time i playing a star trek game like "Star Trek armada 2" years ago, or like star trek online, i am there! everything of me, every single cell is out there! in my imagination i was out there! in the cold of space! i was there in my own starship and exploring the galaxy. later when i played star trek online ... it was litterally breathtaking, seen first time the spacestation deep space nine in game with my own eyes. and then standing there, on the promenade deck in the station whith my gamecharacter, where i watched star trek deep space nine so often, that i could navigate complettly blind, i can't tell you how that had fellt, my eyes became wet.
for my whole life i was dreaming about getting my one little starship, with all that star trek technology, and travel out there ... exploring and find out what is really out there, waiting for us to be discovered.
as you read this, you may get the idea, why this song hit me so hard and my face getting wet every time i listen to it. Eugene shoemaker was one of the founders of the modern field of the planetary sience. And gene roddeberry was the creator of Star Trek! You may will now nod with your head and understand now, that those both men are something like life long heros for me.
The fact, that eugene shoemaker is one of my heros i didn't even know 12 months ago. i just found out like 6 months ago about that song through another yt reaction from another channel, and that tha band made a new album, i realized months after that. just through the song i learned about eugene shoemaker.
There was only one time that the name „shoemaker“ was in my ears, besides the song from nightwish. It was the year of 1994, when the broken parts of the comet „shoemaker levy 9“ crashed into jupiter. The new reports were all over the world. I still remember the fascination in my mind about that event.
    Greetings from vienna
    Wolve
PS. I still have to work on my english, so ... sorry if some parts are sound weird, I'm from austria, so my mother language is german ^^ and any tipping errors, i don't need them any more, you can keep them :P

Listening to this album after the Marko departure announcement, I can't help feeling like they knew he would be leaving when making this album. You may have noticed, but aside from I think one song, Marko does not have prominent vocals and mainly only does subtle harmonies. And it seems like they made a concerted effort to demonstrate Troy's talents to emerge as a secondary vocalist.
Marko is undoubtably an irreplaceable member of this band, but it seems like this album may have been (intentionally or not) starting along the path to moving on without him and showing that the band is still amazing even when he is much less prominent than he has been in the past.

    • @crazy16167
      @crazy16167 3 года назад

Sight Unseen I agree with you in regards of Marko, my first thought when the CD was released was where's Marko disappeared to, he's hardly on the CD, don't get me wrong Troy has a good voice and plays slot of instruments but Marko is an exceptionally singer, Marko leaving compounds that feeling. I do wish him good luck in the future

    • @julianne_warren
      @julianne_warren 3 года назад

You are right. Plus am I just being paranoid or did Marko deliberately use criticism of (mainly) religion even in their previous album - Endless Forms Most Beautiful as an outlet for his frustration? I have read he was the one who put these specific verses in the lyrics.
PS when you watch especially Tampere concert, you can see he looks a bit tense when they sing those lyrics. Or maybe I'm just reading too much into that and he was just "in the moment" during the great concert.

I've been listening to this ever since the album came out. The CD is on repeat on a weakly basis (sometimes for days in a row) on the car during commutes to work and back. Might have listened to the album a few hundreds. The ending of Shoemaker still brings tears to my eyes. It does mess up something inside. I agree with you about the composition itself, it's masterful, but man, there is something in Floors' voice. It touches, it releases something.
So, Pan next. Yeah, get the baseball cap for that one. It's a rocker!

After 26 years of existence, Nightwish are one big opus. They can't just be lumped into one genre. They are emotions, hight music, talent and a musical phenomenon of this time. Tuomas's talent cannot be pigeonholed into just one genre, he is a genius. It pushes everything further and further. Nightwish are not only for those who recognize pure metal. It is for people who feel music through emotions, whatever they may be. I've known them since Century Child. And during that time, one meets three groups of people who either perceive them as too hard or too soft. These people could never understand it. They only eat their own food. (They only think about their needs). And then there are people who perceive music as such. They can understand it, they can understand Tuomas's talent, his thought. Nightwish are an Epos, it is a poem of epic proportions in a perfect musical performance full of musical Masters.
Apologies for google translate if this is inaccurate.
It is the treasure and secret of the old continent. It's a message in a unique form.. It's Nightwish. Literally

Music is one of human's best inventions and Nightwish is one of the best products music can offer 😁 Yeah, some bands can shred but that doesn't necessarily means their music is interesting and enjoyable. What makes Nightwish special is the genius of Tuomas, they are all great musicians but he is the one that is absolutely unique and irreplaceable. This album is going to destroy live, can't even imagine hearing this music live, it will be so grand 😍 Pan is fantastic, but I can't wait till you get to Endlessness, for me it is up there with the best Nightwish songs ever, and one of the reasons why Marco's departure sucks so much 😖

Thanks. For me: that part always reminds me of "It was as if some beautiful bird had flapped into our drab little cage and made these walls dissolve away, and for the briefest of moments, every last man in Shawshank felt free."

This whole album is a 'grower!' In other words, with every listen it grows on you even more! It's a personal favorite for me, tho I am a fan of almost all their stuff from the very beginning! Pan will be fun for sure. Do make sure you have your thinking cap on if you intend to make real sense of the lyrical references on a first go....looking forward to it!! Nightwish are certainly a thinking person's metal band!

Arjen, wrote everything for ayreon with movies in mind. The world covid situation has made funding very unlikely ....please do what you can to increase his exposure to world wide and particularly North American audiences. (Only posted because you mention Ayreon in the chat)

the best to do it live: if all the band joins in the "ad astra" parte, including Tuomas, Kai and Emppu (and whoever replaces Marco)

Heyyy Tank! It's now wonder at all, Master Tuomas wants so deeply to meet Vangelis...I really hope for him this one day will be true. Only even more extraordinary artistic top products would be the result, don't you think so too?
Thanx for this great upload, man!

watching a replay because a busy workday.
Your sound pulled Marko out more for my ears to hear. Almost more than I had heard listening through on the release day.
bit mad I had to miss Elisabeth and Chase, but oh well, sound is better at home.

You are 100% right. Floor's voice is beautiful, and all the band members are ridiculously good, but it is the composition by Tuomas which really sets Nightwish apart, IMHO.

Like every other song on this record, it seems to get better & better with every listen. Pretty remarkable considering him much I have spun it to this point lol. Human Nature is certain a departure in a lot of ways, but man it is good.

Pan is glorious, Shoemaker always gives me goosebumps but I love the build on Pan through the verse, it's a pure pristine melody that does funny things to you lol. Yeah definitely lose the hat for Pan, and when you get to Tribal I would let the hair flow that's a chuggy wonder.
I believe they have said they weren't going to play Shoemaker, but I would be surprised if they stick by it as it's such a fan favourite.
Are you going to tackle the back end of the album in one lump or separately/listen off camera? "All the works of nature which adorn the world" is an experience and a half that I personally prefer to absorb somewhere without interuptions.
    Great reaction as always :)

Do you hear how tight that guitar and bass is with the snare drum? This is a nightmare of a song to get tight! Then you have floor singing the most difficult lines she has ever had to do in this band. Nightwish is the greatest symphonic metal band in history! No one would ever attempt to duplicate this. In my opinion, this is the hallmark song of the Nightwish era.
