This interim always made me emotional. It was a really heartwrenching journey for Hide and seeing how many people died in it. Nioh 2 is a very underrated game and often overshadowed by the popularity of the first one. I originally had low expectations for this game as how hard the first one is and how "soulslike" it was. The gameplay is one thing but the story blew me away with how much emotion and care there is. Easily one of my favourite games of all time. We'll meet again in Yomi, Mother.
I couldn't even get myself to finish Nioh and dropped it after a point, Nioh 2 on the other hand was a dramatically huge development from the first one both from a story and gameplay perspective, easily became one of my favorite games and I even thought of actually starting NG+ which I haven't done in a single game before. Truly a masterpiece of a game.
Last year I knew my relationship was coming to an end with my gf. This happend to be the game I was playing at the time. One night I went to her house and we broke up. I came back and played Nioh 2. I remember I sat in the interim and stared out at the ocean listening to this for so long, just thinking about everything. A year later and I have a new job and have met someone else. Life always takes you on a journey. You will always get through it. Thanks Nioh 2

It’s bittersweet. They get to leave once you help them find peace and enjoy their afterlife. But that just reinforces that feeling of being the last one left once all is said and done.
Why is this so underrated? Beautiful music at its core. I imagine dying one day and waking up in the Interim, where all my family, friends and fellows wait for me.
@@70good91 You're right, but I too cannot resist to visit this place because it looks so holy, serene, peaceful... Added by this beautiful music in the background.
Nioh 2 is one of the best games I’ve ever played. I enjoyed it more than dark souls. Don’t get me wrong I’m a huge dark souls fan but nioh 2 made everything right. Setting, gameplay music and everything. So please please please make another nioh! I know that team ninja don’t want to make a 3rd nioh but please do that!
@@Effect-Without-Cause I noticed that too... but it was great hearing those again as well! Like in the Song of the Yokai level, it was a nice surprise hearing that song again, as its one of my favorites from the first game.
Koei’s Sengoku/Three Kingdoms games always deliver on the soundtracks, whether it’s a Soulslike, Hack’n’Slash, or Grand Strategy. Some of my favorite music in all of gaming comes from the house that Kou built!
the emotion of genuine sadness i felt after seeing the characters in the interim disappear one by one is something i will never forget, especially after fulfilling their one and only request
Indeed. Even if it did kind of break the pace a bit because I had to go redo that one mission with Shibata, and Korouku fighting to get them to show up, and had to go redo the other main mission where you team up with Shibata.
I often wonder how the top artists are able to play these kinds of musical pieces without bawling their eyes out, the way they get into the music they play.
In one of the most difficult times I have ever been in both physically and financially but listening to this song on repeat recently has brought a measure of peace to it. Loved Nioh 2 and finished all 3 dlc years ago but this song is what I remember most about it
Maybe a look into the more modern-ish ages like when Hirohito was in command? I dunno how a Nioh 3 would look like no matter how much I wish it existed. But Nioh 2 ended perfectly for me.
@@LenoViburnum Maybe it could be a more personal journey instead of being on a grand war scale. It could be a more behind the scenes conflict à la Demon Slayer, with a big bad evil guy creating or summoning demons and the player getting dragged into it.
@@LenoViburnum I'd say the best period instead of WW2 is the Meiji Restoration period starting from the Perry Expedition where he came with his ships to end Japan's isolationism all the way through the Kanagawa Convention and Bakumatsu before culminating in the Boshin War. I love Souls games (Souls, Bloodborne, Elden Ring), but in terms of sheer beauty - none can compare to Nioh 2. In terms of the beauty of aesthetics, gameplay, and music. It’s such a work of art. Bravo Team Ninja, bravo.

A pause is sometimes all you need. My absolute peak of skill so far was right after a rather long pause, killing a serie of boss in the same mission, including katsuie that I never fought before. After being on fire, I cool down on those musics.
