@@N0TAR1A actually no. Stick very much admits that he nor the Hand knows what the Black Sky can do, only that it will bring the end of the world. And even in the spin-off shows this not explained. So a central plot point of a season is not explained nor developed Already brought up inconsistencies in Matt’s abilities in my list. Not repeating them I expect there to be something of interest with a central villain organization of a season. The Hand is just flat. They’re purely evil with a goal that is never fleshed out or explained in DD. And I wouldn’t call the main villain of season 2 a “random character”
There are not many shows where I can say I liked every season, Daredevil is one of those shows where I loved all three seasons. It also leads into The Punisher and I loved both seasons of that as well.
For me it's insane because while there are episodes that are better than others I enjoyed each episode I don't even like every episode of Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul and those shoes are phenomenal
I agree, i really like the 2 seasons of Punisher as well. Not nearly as pitch perfect as DD but still great. Although season 2 of DD is the best season of Punisher.
I'm glad the show still resonates. DD is my favorite comic book hero and it was great to see the show do him justice. One of the best bits of the show is rarely mentioned, though you kinda touched on it (but you wouldn't know this if you've never read the comics): what they did with Bullseye in S3 was miraculous. Bullseye in the comics is the one glaring, generation after generation storytellling weak spot in DD comics. He's never given a legit backstory, or rather he's given several that he either immediately or eventually denies. As far as we can tell, he is evil simply for the sake of being evil. He's frightening, sure, but ultimately uninteresting. The show gave us an explanation for why Dex is the way he is in a way the comics never have.
This Show should be a template for future Marvel Shows. The piece is well done, the choreography is great, and the writing is well balanced. Great review
I may not be a person who creates video essays but I gotta say, this is one of the best ones I've ever watched. Storytelling is the essence of every film
Writing is very important. This show understood that and as well as understanding the source material. You’re not wrong. It’s the best marvel show to date and it’s not even close.
Hot take, but the Netflix daredevil suit is the greatest adaptation of a comic book suit ever, it takes all the most important core elements of the comic look and translates it into something that would work within the real world
I agree with you 100% on the one shot prison scene in S3 was probably truly amazing.I kinda get the feeling that the complete exhaustion Matt showed in that scene was actually Charlie Cox just being exhausted from all the takes.
If i remember right, Cox was so good, i think they actually got it on the first take AND without switching in a stunt double as they had planned. It was a literal one shot scene.
I just finished the show, like litteraly and hour ago, and after having binged that for like a week, that was one of the best peices of TV I've ever watched, great video on the series
With the way you speak so confidently, I was expecting you to have hundreds of thousands of subscribers. I was really surprised to see how small this channel is. Your work is fantastic! You definitely deserve more attention!
As someone who grew up poor, in a project building, in a so-called "bad" nyc neighborhood, and I have personally seen how my neighborhood has changed over the years, not necessarily for the better, I love the fact that the main villains means of villainy is basically gentrification. His villain name is "The Kingpin," but it might as well be "The Ultimate Gentrifiyer!" His stated goal is to make the neighborhood better, but he does that by buying up all the buildings and kicking all the poor people out. He literally says to Vanessa (the rich white lady) that he wants to make the city better SPECIFICALLY for people LIKE HER!
Yeah, the old mexican lady in season one was a great "plot device" to show exactly this, and I think that's my favorite part of Daredevil, how he's always shown as a hero who's in there with the people, and uses both the suit to break through those barriers and the law to rise above the struggle while bringing the people with him. I think Melvin in S2 and the prisoner Matt interviews in S3 also showcase that
Excellent video brother and I couldn't agree more. Daredevil is the greatest thing the MCU has created to date. I'm so glad you took the time recently to watch it I would give anything to be able to watch it for the first time again lol. Much love!
Bro seriously I’m rewatching season 1 and I can’t believe how good everything is. It’s definitely the best thing marvel has ever produced. I never knew much about DD but he’s my favorite because of this adaptation

I hope you'll someday get the recognision that you deserve because you're doing amazing work. I personally would give Daredevil a 10/10. I mean yeah it's a little bit streched up (thanks second half of season 2) but season 3 for me is pure perfection. I wouldn't change even single dialog or shot in this season.
Totally agree with your take on Daredevil. Season 3 is one of my favorite seasons of television ever! Also I’m glad you’re liking my videos. Im just going to keep making them cause I love doing it and it seems I got a small community that enjoys them and that’s more than enough for me!
Fantastic analysis. DD is easily the best superhero show yet. I could praise it all day. Excited for Born Again, a more comic booky, rumored TV-MA series. Hopefully it lives up to this cuz this is a high bar. Just subbed! I got a channel myself where I focus on these topics as well if you're ever interested 👍
Look straight up I didn’t have Netflix when Daredevil was originally on that platform but after seeing him in NWH and in She-Hulk I decided to actually watch the show, I was always aware of the character especially the Ben Affleck version but I’ve only ever seen clips of Charlie’s on RUclips and it was fucking amazing, and when I watch the actual show it went up 10 times more and I remember I wrote a paper on the entire series on why it’s the best “Netflix” marvel shows
Ive been a fan since the beginning. 1st season dropped my senior year of high school and i was hooked. Season 2 and the introduction of Punisher in 2016 was my top anticipated comic book story, over BVS and Civil War. I watched all the shows in between and was pretty disappointed with the Defenders, then season 3 dropped. Season 3 was so good that it actually pissed me off when i heard they canceled it after. I cheered the loudest when he showed up in No Way Home, i sat thru every episode of She Hulk just to see him again, and the only reason i hold out hope for the MCU is Born Again.
100% agree! I love the show from the moment they released the first season and loved every minute of it. The punisher spinoff show is also very well done and your last comment about the Defenders is spot on. that show was trash.
I agree. Daredevil is still that one superhero show that still holds up. It is just amazing quality. It was a great time to watch this show when it premiered on Netflix.
Not only does Netflix´s DD still hold up, but wait after the MCU Born Again series will come out, people will appreciated even more. Writing, acting, cinematography, action choreography, this show was, no is still today next level. I mean, if anybody of you think that the MCU DD will hold a candle to this masterpiece, you are beyond delusional. Just take a look at how they absolutely massacred the character in She-Hulk or how they ruined Wilson Fisk in that crapfest of a show, called Echo. Just to give you an idea, how clueless they are at Disney/Marvel: Chris Brewster, the stunt coordinator/ double for Charlie Cox on Netflix´s DD, approached them to work on Born Again and they rejected him. The guy has worked on other MCU projects like Dr. Strange 2 & Loki, so he was surprised. When he asked: "why?" they told him that they don´t want the MCU version of DD to look or feel like the Netflix version, specially not in the action scenes. Let all that sink in for a moment....
I hope they never make Born Again. I know Mr. Cox loves playing Murdock/DD, but I wonder if he will really be happy as Disney assassinates his character.
Well it looks like the stunt coordinator who initially got fired just got rehired for Born again with the creative overhaul so hopefully they are moving in the right direction!
This show is amazing I rewatch every year It’s sad that Disney pulled the plug so they could make their own version but I’m so happy it even happened. Daredevil was already my favorite marvel character and I’m just happy more people found him through this show
You are 1000% correct.....and with the way they finally decided to apparently make seasons 1-3 canon...Born Again will probably be a soft reboot....but Netflix Daredevil is my absolute Marvel content brought to screen large or small.
Being such a good show eventually worked against it because many Marvel character series started coming out on Netflix following the success of Daredevil (of those series I only saw The Punisher)... I just wanted this masterpiece to continue!
There has to be some reason why the mature oriented superhero shows dominate over the others. Stuff like the Boys, Invincible, Doom Patrol and Daredevil are all incredible while more kid friendly superhero shows like the Arrowverse, Miss Marvel, She-Hulk and Moon Knight ( granted moon knight was better than every other disney plus show besides loki). However none of these had the quality of writing that the more adult oriented shows have. Maybe it’s that the kid friendly shows have much more restrictions as to what they can do which hurts the story in a way that just makes it feel less real perhaps.
I think usually mature shows have more creative freedom from producers and aren’t expected to perform as well as mainstream shows. They get to be more creative and they also have time to find their audience instead of having to appease a large demographic due to being family friendly. But idk I’m just a dumb movie guy
@luisz222 Perhaps, but kids shows shouldn't be less good simply because they are marketed to kids. C.S. Lewis once said that a story which is good only for children is not a good story at all. He's right. The audience may limit the subject matter, but that just means that the writers must write a compelling story within their purview. For example, How to Train Your Dragon 1 is an excellent movie, sufficiently dark but not too dark for kids. It has excellent themes, such as forgiveness, sacrificial love, etc. It shows how real relationships work---Hiccup being bullied, Hiccup not getting along with his dad, Hiccup learning to stand up for himself and what matters to him as he grows in confidence because of his friendship with Toothless. It's a great movie, for kids and adults. If writers feel that they cannot be sufficiently creative within their purview, then they may need to switch genres or crank up their creativity juices to make something truly unique for its genre/audience. Writers who did this would be among the best storytellers and visual media would be in a much different place than the sad state it wallows in today.
I would love to have seen subsequent seasons introducing typhoid Mary and more stories adapted from bendis... Also a series could have ended with a hint of the fantastical adapting Ann noceti's stint in the 80' s introducing the paranormal mephisto. The religious connotations would have been immense with a demon playing with Matt Murdoch's mind..... This would lead Matt to seek Dr strange in attempt to challenge Matt's own inner demons
This show coming out in 2015 the same month as avengers age of ultron... hell it came out the same year as flash season 1 and stole a lot of the thunder. Its hard to watch moon knight make jokes with mr knight knowing it would have been better in the hands on marvel netflix if not done incredibly cheaply. I would take that trade off!!!
This is what I've always believed were the best 'superhero' types... the more ground-level people living in the grit and rain of the big cities, not some spotless skyscraper with robots getting you drinks (looking at you, Avengers). The film heroes live in some world where there's always some mulit-billionaire funding their efforts, buying them jets, feeding them for crissakes. They're all gods of one type or another, not really people... and after a while, I've found them not relatable, and pretty boring. "Oh wow, another of these god-types just threw my hero guy through a big building, and they came out the other side... and boy, they are really mad now!" I mean, how many bystanders die in every one of these 'hero' scenes? Even Matt Murdock understands that if there's gonna be mayhem, take it away from innocent people. I like Murdock, and JJones, and Luke (Iron Fist & the actor playing him were just abysmal, embarrassing). And yes, I also like the team-up Defenders - yeah, the production values were not nearly as strong, but it was worth it to see the combining of my new fave street level heroes. I think they were trying to bring the look of each of the shows into that one... but it wound up being a mish-mash of styles and some of the cam work was really misguided... but I always loved the comic versions of these team-ups, and this was great for me.
Daredevil is low key one of Marvel's best heroes, and this series is a phenomenal personal favorite. Defenders is good entertainment at best, but Matt's stiry is still great. The main series is an all time great and somehow really underrated. My only complaints with this series is that Bullseye should have successfully killed Karen Page (though I'm not upset that she survived), they shouldn't have killed Ben, season 3 should have maintained the noir vibe of the first two seasons, and I wish they didn't keep Daredevil in the makeshift black suit for all of season 3. Give him a black and red suit mix at the very least. The red devil suit is just too iconic. All of these are minor complaints in an otherwise stellar series. You don't even really need to be a huge fan of superhero stories to enjoy tbis either. It's great even if you just enjoy crime thrillers, noir dramas, amd anytbing with top notch action choreography. As far as the character goes, Daredevil might be my favorite Marvel hero only possibly surpassed by Spider-Man and Wolverine, but honestly, I think he's had the most excellent comics of the three, or at the very least, the least amount of duds. He's just popular enough ti always have something going on, but not so popular that editorial and corporate overlords micromanage him into oblivion and burden his stories with a bunch of stupid mandates like you get with Spider-Man, X-Men, and unfortunately the Avengers now. Daredevil: The Man Without Fear (the primary inspiration fir season 1), by Frank Miller and John Romita Jr, is one of my favorite graphic novels in my entire collection.
My only gripe and it's a little is daredevil should have been more acrobatic in combat scenes without trying to OVER USE of matrix style wirework or bad CGI
That’s really interesting. Why is season 3 your least favorite? I’m genuinely curious cause I thought it was easily the most interesting and engaging season. What didn’t work for you?
There’s so many things, I’d have to make my own essay video to cover it all but it’s fundamentally cracked. Didn’t S1 already cover his soul searching, questioning morality & juxtaposed adversary? How come Matt became so dismayed & unhinged when Elektra died the 2nd time & not the first? The 3 seasons were meant to cover the 3 aspects of his life. S1: lawyer/civilian S2: hero/vigilante S3: his religious side. S3 posed the question “why does he (still) fight?” It doesn’t answer that question in a satisfying or cohesive way.
This show was/is amazing. I never read comic books and only knew Daredevil from the horrible movie and had 0 expectations when this show came out and I was hooked after 5 minutes. Agent's of Shield and Daredevil are the only marvel shows I like. Please don't remind me of the CW Arrowverse
oh yes dex was amazing...loved him in the DD suit but sad that DD is wearing the yellow on in she hulk looks bad to me i hope they dont just kill DD and make him a CW TV Show...i hope they dont keep him looking like ketchup and mustard...the DEVIL is Red
I've heard great things about it and I know Michael Rosenbaum is in it and I love him as Flash in Justice League animated. So I probably need to get around to watching that!
@@IamT-Rex the show is very much a drawn out soap opera with dodgy special effects, but it’s a show with a lot of heart, and I’d recommend it to anyone! Also personally I think Michael Rosenbaum is easily the best live action portrayal of Lex Luthor. He really gives Lex a level of depth and complexity.
Daredevil was not my first superhero comic, that was Spidey, but when i did read his books he easily became my favorite. Even back in the early, much more colorful days. He felt much more adult than the X men or Spider-Man and i dug the different vibe. I even enjoyed the Daredevil movie, especially the extended edition, but it wasn't like i had a lot of options then😂 Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin and Colin Farrell as Bullseye were great. But the show is the epitome of character focused, great storytelling, and has the most consistently awesome action sequences outside of the John Wick series. I even love season 2, which is still great but lesser only because immortal, personalityless ninjas do not make for an interesting rival. The scenes with Punisher and Matt talking are peak comic book goodness. But then the very end of season 3 comes and tops even that. Matt's diatribe to Wilson's face after punching him senseless is the most perfect moment in any comic book show or movie ever made. It is an absolute emotional gut punch and Charlie Cox should have won a Golden Globe that year for his performance. Was glad to see Cox show up in No Way Home but i am completely done with the MCU forever. It's done, it's dead, it's unsalvageable. Disney as a company needs to burn in hell for destroying so many beautiful franchises. It makes me so sad to see them abuse Charlie by ruining DD's character in She Hulk, Echo, and now in Born Again. It is going to suck. Disney doesn't hire writers or lovers of characters, they hire activists. At least those 3 seasons made a great arc and will remain untainted.
I'm sorry man. The Penguin overtook Daredevil. Subjectively and definitely objectively. Daredevil has waaay better action still. The penguin has got incredible acting, incredible writing, jaw-dropping cinematography and everything is on par. Great shows both of them.
But does penguin team up with scooby doo and the joker to create his room of doom?? Unfortunately 60’s animated scooby doo penguin is on top i’m afraid

Flat characters like Nobu, or inconsistencies with some Matt’s powers to supply further tension/conflict can be issues even if you yourself didn’t notice or weren’t bothered by them. I’d recommend just glance at my initial list once more.
Again. Great show. But it’s not perfect. It has flaws
@@N0TAR1A actually no. Stick very much admits that he nor the Hand knows what the Black Sky can do, only that it will bring the end of the world. And even in the spin-off shows this not explained. So a central plot point of a season is not explained nor developed
Already brought up inconsistencies in Matt’s abilities in my list. Not repeating them
I expect there to be something of interest with a central villain organization of a season.
For me it's insane because while there are episodes that are better than others I enjoyed each episode I don't even like every episode of Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul and those shoes are phenomenal

daredevil season 2 was best punisher season.
Spectacular Spider-Man? Oh wait
I agree, i really like the 2 seasons of Punisher as well. Not nearly as pitch perfect as DD but still great. Although season 2 of DD is the best season of Punisher.
Defenders brought out the true leadership of Matt. And him kicking Danny Rand's butt was the best.
Awesome insight on the show and Bullseye. I’ve just started getting into reading Daredevil comics so it’ll be fun to see the differences.
This Show should be a template for future Marvel Shows. The piece is well done, the choreography is great, and the writing is well balanced. Great review
I may not be a person who creates video essays but I gotta say, this is one of the best ones I've ever watched. Storytelling is the essence of every film
Thanks for the kind words. Glad you liked the video!
@@IamT-Rex I dont say this a lot but you are genuinely underrated af
What if I told you daredevil had that DAWG in him
Writing is very important. This show understood that and as well as understanding the source material. You’re not wrong. It’s the best marvel show to date and it’s not even close.
Hot take, but the Netflix daredevil suit is the greatest adaptation of a comic book suit ever, it takes all the most important core elements of the comic look and translates it into something that would work within the real world
Just missing the “DD”
I agree with you 100% on the one shot prison scene in S3 was probably truly amazing.I kinda get the feeling that the complete exhaustion Matt showed in that scene was actually Charlie Cox just being exhausted from all the takes.
If i remember right, Cox was so good, i think they actually got it on the first take AND without switching in a stunt double as they had planned. It was a literal one shot scene.
Every time I rewatch daredevil I’m blown away. And I love punisher as well. Daredevil season 1 and 3 are pretty much perfection
One of the best shows ever. Excellent casting, writing, cinematography, acting, and more! You don't even have to love superheroes to love the show.
Absolutely agree
I just finished the show, like litteraly and hour ago, and after having binged that for like a week, that was one of the best peices of TV I've ever watched, great video on the series
With the way you speak so confidently, I was expecting you to have hundreds of thousands of subscribers. I was really surprised to see how small this channel is. Your work is fantastic! You definitely deserve more attention!
Thanks you so much!
I think Melvin in S2 and the prisoner Matt interviews in S3 also showcase that
Daredevil is one of my favorite shows ever!!! It’s amazing
I've found your channel thanks to this video randomly popping out in my recommendations and I'm grateful for that. I've checked out your other videos and I cannot believe how you have so small views.
I agree with your assessment. Daredevil is the G.O.A.T.
No
Fantastic analysis.
Look straight up I didn’t have Netflix when Daredevil was originally on that platform but after seeing him in NWH and in She-Hulk I decided to actually watch the show, I was always aware of the character especially the Ben Affleck version but I’ve only ever seen clips of Charlie’s on RUclips and it was fucking amazing, and when I watch the actual show it went up 10 times more and I remember I wrote a paper on the entire series on why it’s the best “Netflix” marvel shows
The best thing about Daredevil being in the MCU is that it leads people to watch his way better show. Glad you loved the show too!
My condolences that your eyes had to witness She Hulk. Marvel should be charged with abuse.
I know i'm late, but "when daredevil ethics go to far, you get your own tv show. Way to go Frank." had me laughing so much. It's also so well put.
Keep up the hard work! Great Video! Daredevil is one of my favorite shows!

@@harunoshiobana235 show is far from underrated and un popular. It's just not anything going on with it until next year
daredevil is a masterpiece :")
I really hope that daredevil born again will be like the original Netflix series.
100% agree! I love the show from the moment they released the first season and loved every minute of it. The punisher spinoff show is also very well done and your last comment about the Defenders is spot on. that show was trash.
I see your chanel growing off this... I mean I'm here, who else found this video n was hooked!
Thanks!
Except the black sky crap lol, other than that absolutely beautiful show, complete piece of art, could make a man cry
I love this and your Invincible video bro, good work. I just discovered your channel and will be a loyal subscriber.
thx man!
I was never much fund of daredevil... but this show made him my favorite super hero of the MCU
I agree. Daredevil is still that one superhero show that still holds up. It is just amazing quality. It was a great time to watch this show when it premiered on Netflix.
Oh, man. Amazing video
I just wanted this masterpiece to continue!
i had to pause for a moment cuz i thought i left my game on, but mans using gta 4 soundtrack in back XD what a legend
Make more videos please! I personally liked the iron fist show and would like to hear your thoughts on it.
Cus kids probably can't identify dumb writing, and the parents just don't care.
I absolutely loved The Daredevil Series. Can’t wait for Born Again.
Damn this thumbnail is badass
Thanks!
I feel like the defenders show should have gotten a mention due to it being critical for Matt's story.
Great insights! I also absolutely adore the Frank Miller daredevil and especially recent the Zdarsky run.
wait u didnt talk about Electra ?...do more like this do the punisher please ? i just subbed and liked

I didn’t care for season 2, besides the Punisher stuff. But season 1 and 2 are incredible!!!
You just watched it it October 🤔 well better late than never.
the right question: why Daredevil on she-hulk? Money!
I loved all of the Netflix Marvel shows. All of them better than anything Disneys done in the last years (shows).
When you’re so good in a role that even blind people give you an award for it (no hate towards DD or Cox, just jokes lol)
Peacemaker is my favorite comic book show rn but daredevil is really good no hate respect everyone who likes it
I like peacemaker too just love daredevil a bit more
My only gripe and it's a little is daredevil should have been more acrobatic in combat scenes without trying to OVER USE of matrix style wirework or bad CGI

no it really is the best one. only thing close is the boys and invincible
Daredevil is the best comic book show since the incredible hulk TV show
I'm so sorry you had to go from this to She-Hulk
Thanks for the vid. As one of the biggest DD fans, I agree with everything in this vid except one. S3 is the weakest season, not S2.
It's great, no amazing, but the question is, is it better than Batman The Animated Series?
*Best live action*
oh yes dex was amazing...loved him in the DD suit but sad that DD is wearing the yellow on in she hulk looks bad to me i hope they dont just kill DD and make him a CW TV Show...i hope they dont keep him looking like ketchup and mustard...the DEVIL is Red
Daredevil is what arrow should have been
i enjoy this show, but this guy is taking meat riding to a whole new level
Daredevil is objectively the best superhero show, but personally I think Smallville is the best.
Dont rule out Watchmen and Doom patrol
Really like what I've seen so far of Doom Patrol but I do need to end up catching up on Watchmen since the graphic novel is so good
@@IamT-Rex also The Sadman (The Endless) its so good
Daredevil was not my first superhero comic, that was Spidey, but when i did read his books he easily became my favorite.
Cool
I'm sorry man. The Penguin overtook Daredevil. Subjectively and definitely objectively. Daredevil has waaay better action still. The penguin has got incredible acting, incredible writing, jaw-dropping cinematography and everything is on par. Great shows both of them.
But does penguin team up with scooby doo and the joker to create his room of doom?? Unfortunately 60’s animated scooby doo penguin is on top i’m afraid
