  • For those who's replacing their traditional Wall Switch to a Smart Switch will immediately be confused with the list of switches out there
    Created this explainer video to explain the difference between
    "Fire Wire with Neutral" and "Single Fire Wire NO Neutral"
    so you can know which switch is compatible for you, and also better appreciate why they are different.
    Happy switch conversion! :)

    very well explanation. there are no ad and product promotion. great.

    I bought a smart dimmer switch(neutral) and realized that my current setup got no neutral line. Understand that it is still feasible to install it as long as I install a capacitor to the lightings. Is that correct?

    If I understand correctly if I off the switch physically, I still need to turn on the switch remotely then I can adjust the lights right?

    Nice video, well explain.. Mind to explain what the different between Zigbee vs Bluetooth vs Wifi?

      Zigbee: propriety wireless protocol for smart device to talk to smart hub. Wifi: wireless protocol from your phone to the internet (which then connects to your home router/hub), Bluetooth: just another wireless protocol, not used here I think

    can i connect a neutral fire line switch to a single fire line?

    Decent explanation. I think the circuit diagram doesn't look quite accurate though.

    Thanks man. Great explanation. But some smart switches require a capacitor fitted, any idea why?

    • @tanoryjakaperdana1419
      @tanoryjakaperdana1419 2 года назад

      I think it require more current for the built-in wifi module (and microcontroller) inside the switch.. and capacitor is like a bypass from the switch to the zero line

      What is the value of capacitor if use?

    Hi, I intend to go for netural wire using zigbee version wall switch. It is still necessary to have smart lights? Having this netural wall switch, does it load the lights or still need to bypass? My concern is folk old's turning off the light switch manually

      not sure i understood your Qs, but basically all wall switches supports conventional way of turning off/on as well, so if you have non-tech savvy folks who wants to use the switch in a conventional way, yea it supports them, and at the same time, you can still use it like a smart switch. so e.g. non-tech savvy folks turns off the switch, you can turn it on via the app, vice versa.

    Single firewire does not work like that. Electricity does not work like that. Single firewire - is when one live wire goes through switch and neutral to the bulb goes separately. (actually in your pictures of single firewire is firewire with neutral, you just mark neutral as "load", but L1 in this switch is not neutral - is live for second lamp)

    Nice tutorial man!, but can i jumper neutral cable from electric socket to the smart switch?

      can't confirm.. but i think i've seen another video doing that.

      yes. you can do so. the control device shares a neutral with another circuit as long as your local code does not forbid a shared neutral.

    Does the no neutral switch consume more electricity?

    • @brandonong671
      @brandonong671  4 года назад

      not sure.. but i guess in theory no-neutral should consume teeny bit more.

      it should be the same, consume energy is not about the topology

    not enough information...especially the most important part with neutral wire for every switch in the house make your bill a little bit higher than switch without neutral
