- Broadway’s Morgan James returns to Dizzy’s October 23 at 5 PM and 7:30 PM to mark the 10th anniversary of the release of her first album, A Celebration of Nina Simone.
Ahead of the concert, James stopped by the Playbill Studio to share the song “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood,” one of Nina Simone’s signature songs. Watch the video above.
“I can't remember when I found Nina Simone exactly, but I do remember that I was so enamored of someone who could take anything from any genre, and it becomes a Nina Simone song,” shares James. - Развлечения
the more i listen to morgan the better she gets
Like fine wine, Morgan just keeps getting better and better.
I absolutely love these stripped down arrangements. Her voice and just a guitar or piano make a stunning combination.
As Morgan gets older, you can her the maturity in her amazing voice, and a shout out to her husband on the guitar, in his own right, an amazing musician too.
Doug is an awesome player. Morgan you are soooo lucky to have him!
I’m old, and I love the Animals version, but this is just stunning!
I first heard this song in the 60s by the animals and loved it. But when I heard Morgan James do it she touched my very soul !
"Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" is a song written by Bennie Benjamin, Horace Ott and Sol Marcus for the American singer-songwriter and pianist Nina Simone, who recorded the first version in 1964.
Everything about Morgan James just speaks “dayum”.
Nina's music is the salve for my soul ... I didn't think anyone could cover her music well enough to get me to listen, but these two musicians "bring it on home" for me ... Thank you!
i love Morgan une vrai artiste simple et une grand voix bravoooo
Omg these two just blow me away with their musical prowess, seriously i do not have words.
Dear Morgan, every tune you sing, you make to a Morgan James song. This is what you have in common with Nina Simone. And yes, this is a wonderful take! I've enjoyed it very much. And you look and sound GREAT. All the best!
As always, when she sings I listen.
Simply wonderful. Thank you.
One of the very best. Should be a super star. A class lady.
Thank you for the performance :) cheers ?!
Thank you, Morgan, for this beautiful version of my favorite Animal's song. Had no idea that it was written for Nina Simone. Your voice is magical. Great guitar accompaniment.
Fabulous as always Morgan.
Oh my goodness, what a performance ! Thank you so much for sharing this emotional song with us
Her beautiful voice radiates out from her soul. Through every cell in her body. TRIPLE WOW !!!
Awesome voice, she can raise the roof with the best of them.
This song truly shook me. Thank you so much, Nina and Morgan ❤️❤️❤️
perfect combo : versatile voice and great guitar . Always intense and respectful of the original artists and songs yet adding a new interesting layer and twist.
Morgan is fng incredible. I found here on a Seth Rudetsky RUclips video. So accomplished as a vocalist and damn, so pretty.
Enjoy seeing and hearing the fascinating Lady, thank you
Lov en her 😘😘😘😘💕💕💕💕

Goose bumps! Thank you, Morgan!
Phenomenal.❤❤❤❤❤
Amazing voice!
I believe every old star bless you and your talent! From the heart! 😍
Incredible voice and Nia has always been one of my favorites
So talented!
Wow … just wow
Whowwwww what a performance .This is the best pure version Everrrrrrrrr
Simply incredible….incroyable……la voix, les arrangements et la guitare…merci infiniment…..
Scott Bradlee and PMJ feature the best of the modern vocalists.....all are so good at many genres of music........of course, in Morgan's case, a Julliard training doesn't hurt.........her range and vocal control are exquisite.......
She has a way with a story thats for sure, what a delivery. She's on my Mount Rushmore of vocalists, with Haley Reinhart ,Nina Simone, Angelina Jordan and Billie Holiday.
Yes! And in other genres...Janis Joplin, Patsy Cline, Sarah Vaughn, Linda Ronstadt....
@@reneer3197YES SO F/N 👍
That’s class.
Goosebumps throughout ❤😮😊
Beautiful voice
Oh so good,!!! and yes I have your CD's, hello from down under great to listen too
outstanding!
Great job!
Good music is like gravity... it just draws singers & musicians to it. Thanks guys for your good work 👏
I remember that hit by the Animals when I was a teenager, and I thought it was great; this version is just wonderful!. I have to agree, though, Nina Simone is one of the great ones. Everything she touches........
Super Fantastic! 😎🇺🇸👍🏻👍🏻
Great.
WOW
NICE GOWN ...straight from the house of the rising sun !
Wow!!! Can this be done in a better way?
Singing, playing and arrangement ‐ All top!
Ken, you just named my favorite singers. I would like to add Aretha to the list.
The original recording (still available) is wonderful. The songs are outstanding, exhibiting MJ's power and phrasing/arrangements. Recording quality also excellent.
Morgan seems to be her best when she is performing with very little behind her. This is a prime example just her and her husband... I am old enough to remember the times when we went to supper clubs and listened to Nat Cole trio, or Tony Bennet with Ralph Sharon., Michael Feinstein... The list is endless... But my all time must is when I was in New York and going to the Cafe Caryle to hear Bobby Short. No Hoopla A great voice and a simple backup.
Unique .not other like you .
You’re a genuine talent. Fantastic song! I got shivers. A new fan. Dr.Don
I miss her long hair.
Just as awesome as her version of "Dream on" and "Getsemaneh"! Only a little more decent.
S C A R Y GOOD.
What can i say ?
Who is playing the guitar?
Her husband.
@@mencken8lucky guy.
I don't know the whole story but, from my limited experience, I always thought that Nina struggled with mental health issues. I always wished her well, but I found her performances to be more than a little desultory and uneven.
YMMV
Music starts at 2:17 or so.
Just sayin'...
Leave the echo at home
MJ, I love you, but not this one, and not Trouble in Mind. Too much of NS's life is in those songs. She's not singing, she's praying.
Morgan looks almost 60 when she's 42. Love her and her voice but this character looks for her is not good
Come on!
Simply spectacular
Marry me:)
