Couple of unexpected things for me. I own an American Pro myself. The guitars sound pretty close at first listen, but if you listen closely you can clearly hear a difference. I expected the Pro to sound the woodiest and "Stratiest" of them all. Instead I found the K-line sounding the most "Strat-like"; very woody and balanced. I found the Pro to sound "polished/smooth" and chimey and less "woody" than I expected, especially in the high register. I found the Suhr to be strong in the midrange and low midrange which translates as "bite/growl". I must admit I like the K-line the most, with the Pro coming a close second. The Suhr sounds too "generic" for me; as in an Ibanez Jem trying to sound like a Strat kind of way. I am for sure going to check out this K-line, thank you so much for this A/B/C comparison and the excellent playing :D
There area million ways to alter sound, but playability and quality are inherent in the design. To many people focus on sound, that doesn’t make the guitar, sound you can alter with everything in the signal chain. From a physics perspective only the pickups are affecting “the sound”, not the actual instrument.
wow awesome i could listen to this video all day. i love all three in different ways. i have the american professional and love it. just need to learn to play like you now. at least i know what it is capable of now
This is an interesting one for me, because I bought a Suhr a while ago, and now I own 3 S-Type guitars - One Suhr and two Fenders. I love the feel of the Suhr but I find it to be tonally quite dark, it doesn't have the typical strat sparkle that I love - I had thought it was maybe just me, but this video shows exactly what I find with my Suhr - it's the least stratty sounding of the bunch, it's dark and hotter than the rest. Mine also has the ML pickups, like yours. I loved the sound of the K-Line in this - I might have to get some Lollars for my Suhr...
@@johnnathancordy Now that is interesting! I'm still on the hunt for my perfect tele. I think I've found my favourite tele pickups - I've got an American Special tele with Bare Knuckles in it and they sound amazing but the guitar itself isn't anything special - it's OK, the fact it sounds as good as it does is the main reason I've still got it. Great playing btw, fantastic as always!
Same. The suhr t classic that I have is the best for now. I had a K line Truxton but that didn't do it so much...I sort of regret selling the avri Tele - I should have just sanded the neck on that maybe
All 3 are awesome. Your hands seem to like playing the Suhr better/smoother. Suhr sounded the hottest of the three. Preferred the tone of the K-Line or Fender but if you want that produced rockish guitar tone, the Suhr is hard to beat.
What made you keep the K-line over the Suhr? I own a Suhr modern and love it, wondering if I should go Suhr again for a classic S or try something else.
@@johnnathancordy Thx John, I will look into that. Also, on another video you asked people to comment on what they would like you to do video tutorials about and things like pentatonics and legato came up. The pentatonic video was very helpful. For me (and I think lots of others) the way you improvise is also something I would like to know more about. This particular track is a great example of that. It would be amazing if you could do a voice over on what you play on this track and tell us about what you were thinking while playing it. Do you play certain arpeggios? Or is it pentatonic scale based? Are there certain shapes you use? Are there certain patterns you use for high speed legato phrases? Each line you play sounds melodic and deliberate, so it would be very helpful to comment on your thought process while playing over these changes. Much appreciated :)
It looks like most of your guitars have rosewood or ebony fingerboards. Do you dislike maple or did it just happen to turn out that way because of the guitar you picked?
For me the K-line is awesome, the bridge pickup sounded really nice compared to the single of the Fender. Suhr pickups I also like a lot though. Suhr is easiest to play
My comparison in order: 1- K-Line Springfield - Lollar Dirty Blondes : the best guitar due to Lollar pickups they have straty tone, full, high output & responsive 2- Fender American Professional Stratocaster - Fender CS69s: Nice strat vintage tone, low output but not very responsive comparing to Lollar 3- Suhr Standard Pro S3 - ML pickups: Not very strat tone, medium output not responsive comparing to the other two.
People so obsessed with tone, tone is in technique and sound modulation including the pickups. When people say the guitar sounded, 95% of that is not the guitar, it’s the electronics and signal processing plus technique. Playability and quality/reliability are a true measure of the guitar, also practical use.
Fender pro lacks of character. Don't get me wrong but it sounds nothing like a vintage strat. I preferred the k line tone, it sounded more accurate. Suhr is just another world, totally different tone.
@herreratomemh Just a quick look at other videos on this channel will answer for you, regarding responses. At the time of your posting, this particular video was up for around 6 hours.
johnnathancordy ... so my bro sorry about it I asked you about your fender Stratocaster.. it it was a American professional..because tho finish is so rare to find...
I have the American Pro, orange tiger stripe colour. The K-Line sounds best to me, then the AM Pro, Suhr doesn't really sound stratty. All great guitars though.
One of the best comparison videos I’ve seen so far, thank you!

Get a real strat boomer.

Truly impressed with the Fender 69.
K-Line with Dirty Blondies are similarly great. The Suhrs are not bad, just a different taste.
Loved the fender one mostly to my ears and personal taste! Thanks!

I bought it Fender American professional II left handed after watching your performance
I like Fender American Professional Stratocaster
All 3 are awesome. Your hands seem to like playing the Suhr better/smoother. Suhr sounded the hottest of the three. Preferred the tone of the K-Line or Fender but if you want that produced rockish guitar tone, the Suhr is hard to beat.
What colour is that fender strat?
Sonic blue!
What made you keep the K-line over the Suhr? I own a Suhr modern and love it, wondering if I should go Suhr again for a classic S or try something else.
Did the K-Line come with the Lollars? I was looking on their site and actually looking at a used one that has the Standard S pups from them.
Those K-Line Standard S pups are made led after the Lollar dirty blondes, and maybe sound slightly better.
The Kline sounds sooo good! What is the set up specs on your Kline? Like Neck relief and action height?
John, is it possible for me to buy this particular backing track from you? I like it very much.
Hey Niko! I put backings up on my patreon page all the time if that's of any use to you?

The K Line looks the coolest

Because maple is ugly 🙃
What a player. Incredible 👏
Mindblowing...
Interesting comparison. Would have to pick the K-Line out of the three - just a sweet, balanced tone.
Same!
Which one felt easier to play?
The suhr is probably the winner there!
fender
Which one did you like-soundwise and for playing?
For me the K-line is awesome, the bridge pickup sounded really nice compared to the single of the Fender. Suhr pickups I also like a lot though. Suhr is easiest to play
K-line and fender were close but K-line pups nailed smooth Chimney bell sound(?). K-line all day for me 👍
Great playing man
Are the pick ups on the K-line 60s or 64s?
Lollar Dirty Blondes!
@@johnnathancordy thank you. amazing playing.
k-line sounds great,
Awesome!!

The Fender American Professional has V-Mod pickups.
Manuel Vásquez the description literally says he has the CS69 pickups lol
Hey Manuel, this is a ltd edition with CS69s
Yeh it's a ltd edition so not V-mods like the usual
johnnathancordy Hi John, did you put the Lollars in yourself, or did they come stock with the K-Line?
6 screw bridge makes the difference

johnnathancordy ... so my bro sorry about it I asked you about your fender Stratocaster.. it it was a American professional..because tho finish is so rare to find...
@@herreratomemh yes it's American professional but ltd edition in sonic blue with a roasted neck and cs69 pickups

Fender all the way. Suhr definitely has hotter pickups, K-line was very close to the fender, but a bit warmer
Yeh the bridge pickup of the K-line I preferred - did you?
@@johnnathancordy I actually preferred the chimeyness of the fender to the warmth. But both really really good.
