These are great. If you have a home, you have an address. If you have an address, you can get help more easily. It's a hand up. Good work all involved, it's good to see people who care and are able to help, and do help.
I want to say respect to not only CSS but also to the city council! it's too easy to just brush it off as a politician, you don't have political consequences, but they took the risk, and it helped their community!
I love seeing so many conestoga hut villages being created for those in need around Eugene ♡ Its so much safer than living in a tent on the street. Since covid about a dozen little fences safe villages have popped up in special zones throughout Eugene. ♡
I wandered across one of these huts near the Unitarian Universalist Church in Eugene a number a years ago. I moved to Asia shortly after, so I am a bit impressed to see how much this has grown. Nothing at all wrong with this idea, people need a place to lay their head at night in safety.
Now is a perfect time to make shelters for homeless. Homeless numbers are exploding. Let's join in prayer that God would guide us to solve this and provide the materials to build it. WE CAN IN JESUS NAME!
@@chuckwaardenburg496 You’re the kind of person dragging down the country, your non belief is intruding on those that know there is a God. This country’s standards are in the gutter, US is going down over the sinful behavior in US. Humanity needs Jesus.
I looked up the main components for the hut 2 ,16' feedlot panels~$16-$25 each. A Murphy bed should be in these. Lowers down between the bench sears. Table planks lowered from the bottom of the Murphy bed.
I don't see anything wrong with this. I've been homeless a few times in my life and the only thing that is stopping me from living this way is I don't have a place to build one that is close enough to where I work.
I said that "I have experienced HOMELESSNESS" sleeping rough for a brief period. What people don't realize how much these people are taken advantage of. How parasitic the world is . I tried sleeping at salvation army shelter and they mean well but I rather sleep in a tent in the woods. Shelter life is no different than jail life someone else has the keys to the door someone else decides what's for dinner when you will eat it. When and where you can go outside. I cherish my sovereignty more than anything else.
Yes, one of the good things about the huts and the tiny houses is that they give people four walls around them and a door that locks. It gives people a sense of privacy and dignity which is important. It also means that people don't have to worry about their stuff being stolen while they are away. Furthermore, people can sometimes paint the huts up or decorate them, so the huts can foster a sense of pride, individuality and sovereignty.
That's a really great deal for people who just need a bit of help. I would actually like to have one of these for myself but I live in the USA. Can you get blue prints of them ?
Yes, Community Supported Shelters has a book on creating the Conestoga Huts and SquareOne Villages has plans for the mini-houses. This is really neat we need something like this around my state of Arizona...

There aren't words to describe how incredible this is. How has it fared since this video. 7 years. Are there any follow-up videos?
Follow up yeah I'm the guy sitting in the chair near the end of the video

@5:54 minute... What a great opportunity for some humanure toilets! #HolisticDesign #Integration #Humanure
Build it somewhere
AWESOME
What accommodation is there for bathing? Sink baths?
Usually there is a communal place for washing and showering on site.
Could use polycorragate for over the roofing material... Would be really strong...
Is there electric inside these huts? And if so how do they provide the hut with electricity? Do they use solar panels on top each one?
Yes, they can run an extension cord into the huts, so that they can have electricity and a little space heater inside the huts.
Could a person buy one of these? Or sell your building plan?

I would donate $ to this through one of the partner charities who place people. I'd like to support veterans. Anyone know who they are?
