I just got these a few weeks ago and yes the screen helps more when you’re setting it up than when you have your helmet on but also I would say this is the best device for music and if you’re a loner like me.
Just got mine I thought the lcd was kinda dumb till after I set my daughters up. Then whilst teaching her the buttons/ functions (with us both wearing the helmets) I put it in some mode and couldn’t figure out what I did wrong till I looked at the lcd on hers so i see it as a little practical now. @revzilla My sena s5 and iPhone X does acknowledge when I say “hey Siri” into the sena s5 mic. (I haven’t done any firmware updates to the s5) so idk maybe I got lucky? 🤷♂️
Got this but seems like i hear a dostortion on the left speaker in an ls 2 challenger helmet, its been only a day and a half of owner ship and might have to rma it, the next model is the sf4 how does that fair compare to this?
Im curious about this too. Going on a trip soon and my friend is going to get one of these to upgrade to what I have (his is super old) and we both want to listen to music while talking but I do NOT want to hear his music lol
Hey! What about battery? On the Web site, the talking time is 7 hour. Is it the same listining the music time? İ think that listening time is like 9 hour. What dou you think? Thanks a lot.
If there is a way to remove it, it will be in the configuration menu within the unit. If you don't get the prompt, reaching out to Sena's Customer Service is likely the next best step. Hope that helps!
This thing SUCKS --- constantly bumping the volume nob with my shoulder plastics and there is no way to LOCK it so it doesnt constantly change my volume unless i am looking straight.
Sena does not claim WP'ing anywhere in their warranty/coverage information at all. Most riders who ride with Sena know though that even in a downpour their units will shut off then reboot once dry and be just fine. However, by warranty standards their units are not waterproof if something should happen to it. Cardo would be the brand to go with that guarantees IP67 waterproofing for most of their units.
i am using my sena smh5 (the most basic model) since 2016. i've riden in the rain, even on downpours, with the unit always playing music and it never skipped a beat. but yeah, it doesnt have an IPxx rating. if you really need the peace of mind, knowing that your device is actually certified with an IPxx rating, then cardo is probably more suited for you. to be honest, having the ease of use of that jog dial is the best thing for me, so didnt really care about IPxx ratings

Very similar to most other modern Sena units as their sound technology hasn't grown too much in their more entry level units. However, as we always recommend, sound quality is just fine at highway speeds as long as you are wearing ear plugs which remove most of the wind noise causing hearing issues. I commuted on my Street Triple at 70mph for over an hour on the highway each way with this unit without issue, but that is mostly thanks to my ear plugs as it is with every Bluetooth unit I test out. @@64_K try using the Sena 5s, nice and loud, no issues so for from mine. Talking on the phone with phone calls, I get nothing but good feedback, as well as the recieving end, no ambient sounds or anything of the like. Try it out!
i find the jog dial the most intuitive controller i've ever used. i am planning on buying a shoei gt air 2 with the SRL2 unit installed, and i really hate that i will no longer have the jog dial.

Thanks for the honest review. Bought that thing solely for lone wolfing
Where u ride bro
Was going to get the mesh st1 then realised I had no friends. Stuck with the 5s 😊
Giving this a LIKE because it was the first time I'm hearing someone swear. Love the authenticity
Sena 5S vs Cardo Freecom 2+ for a rider to passenger use? whats the best choice?
If you don't turn on vox intercom you have to press fob to talk. That goes for everyone connected. They also would need vox intercom on
As a kind of hobby I look for tossed out electronics! So to-day I found a Sena 5S! I thought it was a kind of MP3 player! Thank you 🤓
Cannot decide between 5S and SF4. Any recommendations?

Great price, would love some background music to cover the ringing in my ears.
I just bought this because of your video
Shoutout to your dad Spurg for keeping it real 😂
Same from an old guy,
growing old ain't for wusses...(p)👍
That was priceless
My question is.. can you pair this with a BT-S3
The 5S offers universal pairing, meaning that should be able to any other Bluetooth communicator!
I hope that helps,
-Zack
I have these and the audio quality and mic quality is pretty low. Going to upgrade to a Cardo HD set soon.
Jus bought this n everything is awesomely amazing..missing mesh tho..😆😆😆😆

Does any one know if is possible to share your music with your rider?
@rodolfo arguedas Yes you can music share with this one!
Can you hear the gps unit talking and listen to Spotify and talk to one person at the same time ?

Are the speakers from smh5 interchangeable with the 5s? Thanks
Will this only connect to one other Rider?
Yes, the 5-series from Sena is for Rider to Rider (1 other) only. If you are looking for more, the 10-series is where 4-riders are possible. -Pat
So I just bought this and I can't hear my music over my exhaust please help
Is this compatible with the Sena 10s?
Is this compatible with the sena freewire?
Just bought one and it keeps on cutting off after every phone call. Any suggestions on how to solve the problem?
How to remove the beep sound on it
If there is a way to remove it, it will be in the configuration menu within the unit. If you don't get the prompt, reaching out to Sena's Customer Service is likely the next best step. Hope that helps!
Does it have USB-C or Micro USB connectors?
USB-C
Does this clamp to the helmet or is it double sided tape
Both types of mounts are included in the box. And yes, you can communicate w/ one other 10s using this unit.
Can I talk to my pillion while listening to music?
This thing SUCKS --- constantly bumping the volume nob with my shoulder plastics and there is no way to LOCK it so it doesnt constantly change my volume unless i am looking straight.
Is this really waterproof ?! Could I go on riding if it pours ?!

@@RevZilla thank you for the answer
Yeah! Aging is not for cowards.
How's the sound quality at higher speed... like 70mph?

I just got it myself and it is great! I'd highly recommend getting one and trying it out!
Sena 5s or Cardo freecom 4
Between those two I would choose the Freecom personally as the unit that offers more and can connect further.
I hope that helps!

@@RevZilla hi Zack
Am looking for audio purpose only
Can you please suggest me which delivers best audio
Freecom 2+ or sena 5s

That's stupid.... You can't even see the display when your using it
The display is for setting up the unit. You're not going to be setting it up whilst riding.
That's not stupid to pair with my girlfriend who has no clue how to use the buttons
Hey, you’re not looking at the screen while you’re riding door knob……. You probably don’t even ride, just another troll on RUclips…..
Does this pair with 10s ??
Yes
