  • This is the first in the Dobby series using the Harry Potter Kit by Lucy Collins. You may need some extra supplies for Dobby if you have made other things in this series. If so, I have included some links below. Today, we work from the beginning through round 10. Only one color of yarn is needed for this video and feel free to experiment. Dobby can be any color that you like! Be creative.
    Harry Potter Crochet Kit: amzn.to/363QKEJ
    This kit is on sale right now!!
    This is a nice selection of light weight yarn for a great price. You get a variety of colors that are great for these kits: amzn.to/3089wHf
    Here are some additional items that are great to have on hand. You will need the eyes for Dobby unless you want to use what comes with the kit. If you are planning to make more than a couple of items, you will have to buy additional eyes at some point.
    This is a nice set of crochet hooks with a bonus of large eye needles to do the embroidery with: amzn.to/33TOVHK
    This set of stitch markers has 100 pieces in a variety of colors:
    amzn.to/2FQFaSS
    Safety eyes: amzn.to/2RYnFCt
    This will give you enough for many projects!
    Happy Crafting!!

    I’m pretty new at crocheting so I got this kit knowing it was going to be above my skill level and that it would probably be ages until I could actually do these, but I am so happy I found your video! I haven’t started yet but I will definitely be following you through this project 🥰 I watched this one just to see what I was getting myself into and you’ve explained so well that I’m not feeling like it’s going to be super overwhelming. You give off some very Bob Ross vibes as you go through this and I love that 😍

    Got this kit thinking it’d be simple to learn how to crochet. Wrong. It took me a whole day in between caring for my toddlers to learn how to start the magic circle. On day 2 today and I’m done with Dobby’s head! I’m glad you made this video. Sending ❤ from California

    my brother in law just got me this kit for christmas to see if i could knit all the dolls for their first baby they’re expecting in march. i’m a knitter so this is my first crochet project, and this cleared up all my questions and i was able to work in real time with you. also-can you just narrate my life? can’t wait to keep crafting along with you!

    So happy I found these videos. I was getting so frustrated. It’s my very first attempt at actually making something. It was my sisters way of getting me back into crocheting. I’ve found I get so confused as to what step I’m on and what I’ve actually did. Any tips for that problem?

    • @CraftingwithNana
      @CraftingwithNana  3 года назад

      I think that happens to all of us!! I always run a copy of my pattern so I can mark on it and make notes as to what step I’m on and how many rounds I’ve done. I hope this suggestion helps! Good job for reconnecting with crocheting!!

    Are you using the yarn that is included in the kit? I have the kit but am having a hard time finding the smaller yarn in the semi correct colors. Any suggestions on where to get the correct yarn?

      I was super unhappy with this kit also. I have a link below the Dobby video where you can buy many colors on amazon for a low price. It might be worth checking out if you have amazon. Otherwise..do you have Joanns or michaels near you?

    I’m not the best at crocheting but I’m not awful either. It’s definitely a me error but I tried this and got to about round 5 when I realized mine looked way to big. I started the video again and redid it but the same thing happened. Any advice on why this is happening to me?

    • @CraftingwithNana

      The only thing I can think of is maybe you’re using a larger yarn? To be honest, I’m not really sure…

    Hi I'm from ny , i learned a little from my grandmother when I was younger but eventually I put it away bc of other hobbies and forgot alot of stuff ... it was recently I saw people crocheting animals and I wanted to give it a try .... so I got the HP kit and now have finished harry following your videos and her instructions...I tried dobby first because he was my fav character but I got stuck on how to start the next part after the head aka the ears... does all of the parts start with magic circles in dobby????

    • @CraftingwithNana
      @CraftingwithNana  3 года назад +1

      They can all start with magic circles but I tackle the ears in next weeks video and for the ears I did not start with a magic circle. I just used a slip knot and then crocheted the beginning 6 in that.

  • @lupitar.6055
    @lupitar.6055 3 года назад

    Why didn’t the pattern said we had to make a magic circle?

    • @CraftingwithNana
      @CraftingwithNana  3 года назад

      Because it doesn’t have to be made with a magic circle. It can be made by starting with a slip knot but I like the magic circle better.

  • @allgirlreview433

    I'm having a lot of trouble with this pattern. Am I supposed to be skipping the chain two on the second round? It leaves a big gap. Or do I not complete a full round in the traditional sense?

    • @CraftingwithNana
      @CraftingwithNana  2 месяца назад

      @allgirlreview I want to apologize for taking so long to answer. I looked in the book this morning and round 2 is only single crochet. Once you have made round one you simply put 2 single crochets in one stitch and then single crochet in the next 4. 2 single crochet stitches in one stitch is different than a double crochet. By now you may have figured out the error but I wanted to respond

    You said you use the magic circle but then chained two . Did you make the magic circle then chain two? It didn’t look like you made those first two chain inside the magic circle

    • @CraftingwithNana
      @CraftingwithNana  Год назад

      Yes that is correct. The magic circle still requires the chain stitch. If not starting with the magic circle, you would use a slip stitch and chain 2 before working in the circle.
