I was curious to see where this was exactly, since I rented an apartment in a huge converted Victorian in SJ a couple of decades ago...Turns out the house was originally at the location of the new city hall and they relocated it several blocks away to its current location. Fascinating!!!

@@Christofurr That’s right! It was right where SJ City Hall is today but then it was relocated

They played twice in Pescadero around that time. Jerry stayed in Ron Duartes house to the horror of his mom. They also played on a beach about 5 miles south of Pescadero.

Do you happen to know the name of the beach? What a great place to have watched the Dead at!

@@BayAreaBabylon415 it’s Bolsa point beach. The property is a farm, owned by a friend of mine. Hard to legally access now but miles of untracked sand.
They played at the IDES hall there in Pescadero. A few people I know have stories of the hippie freaks invading that little farming community. 😂
I spend a month with the band on vacation in Hawaii back in the late 80’s. I’ve got plenty of stories and memories from that family trip and the first scuba diving instruction and dives. One for you, When Jerry and Billy skidded into my backyard in Puako in their rented Lincoln Town car, Jerry jumps out and comes up to me on my hammock and says “ Hi, I’m Jerry, got any weed?” in that nasal high voice of his. 😂 I did. Started an 8 year friendship which broke my heart when he died.

@@TheNaturalust Fantastic!!! How cool to have been in their orbit. I will look into IDES Hall.....maybe a story there? Thanks!

@@BayAreaBabylon415 Yes a fun orbit for a while. There were no pills or powders during that first trip to Hawaii. I am a musician but wasn’t a deadhead. I became a fan after they flew me out to Las Vegas once and they played an amazing version of Terrapin Station which I had requested from Jerry. There is a film somewhere where you can see him look over at me on stage left and wink and nod right before the tune starts. They invited me to the last show at the sphere a couple weeks ago which blew my mind somewhat. With the visuals, the shaking seats and the breeze in your face effects it was something I’m still processing. I think John Mayer sings and plays better than Jerry while still giving a tremendous nod to Jerry’s guitar style. I think Micky and Bob are through except for small local CA gigs. Billy is well ensconced in his place in Hawaii, an old macadamia nut farm that I first showed him. Super nice guys with truly stand up families. Someday I’ll probably give my hours of video and photos to the Dead museum down in Santa Cruz, stored in my barn for years now.
Talk to Tim Duarte at Duartes Tavern about the IDES hall show. Perhaps I can hook you up with some folks with good stories if you have trouble finding people from there. ☮️
