Open borders every time 😂
I’ll work eight days a week if need be 🚀
Must have been before the SHERIFF'S came to town.
Sounds like a California politician!
Murderous thug
You left out the part as to WHY he turned to a life of crime though
Sounds like a clamper
Keep up your hard work 🤘
Thank you, I will : )
The guy was a thug!
I love your videos, and wish they were longer.
Thank you so much! Its great to hear you are loving the videos. There are many more in the works and will be published soon. Please check back. Thanks!!!
@BayAreaBabylon415 I look on you channel page where your videos are, also. Thanks! ✌️😎 enjoy!
San Jose was the epicenter of rock bands in the late 60s and early 70s
Also, another horrible thing about Santa Cruz is the vampires.
Awesome video, bro!
Thanks! Many more videos to come.
Good stuff! Bro
Thanks, man! Much appreciated. Many more Grateful Dead and counterculture videos to come!
Sooooooo, like someone lives in that apt? eakk
Yes, Indeed they do.
We saw the show in Chico, in the Gazebo downtown park. They fenced it in because of the attendance. Sublime would frequently play Chico, venues like Juanitas, and Lava Lounge. Bradley's son, Jacob's solo band, just played at The Commons (Chico), after the Coachella. Yes, I still reside in Chico, CA.
I love The Dead, but "pitch perfect"? I don't imagine so.
My dad and I rented the upstairs unit of the house for a year maybe 2 or 3 years ago. Really central spot and the neighbors were very nice but it would freak me out when people would stop their cars outside and just take pictures of our house often with us in the frame.
Right on! Living above Ed Kemper's old house must have been an experience like no other. Hope I didn't freak anyone out while I was recording this from outside the home.
Watched the video since I lived next to this house for a couple years when I first moved to SF in 82. It was black and owned by Jefferson Starship who, contrary to the video, changed their name in 1974. Also contrary to the video they didn’t sell until 1986. As another commenter mentioned, there was a mural on the ceiling of the portico that was pretty cool.
Never thought this band was anything special….thin rhythm section, melodies are meh, no guitar hero, vox are forgettable
I remember this story. Lol.
Was it difficult to book the Seal Rock Inn for 305?
No, not at all. You can do it right on their website. Pretty convenient.
Zane Kesey (Ken's son) has a RUclips Channel. Interesting Acid Tests videos, etc.
I lived in Aptos in the late 70s. It was a great little seaside town.
Wow, you were there when all this happened! 1970's Santa Cruz was a wild place and had 3 serial killers at that time.
Mighty impressive bunch of wall studs in there.
Only the dead know what life really is. The only other side there is... is you!☯️
Stand in front of a house with a barking dog to narrate a story, nope, bad idea. Sadly made the video unwatchable.
I lived two blocks down the street, in Merced, the day he was killed by the accident practically in his own driveway.
Sad story. The kidnapper told him his parents didn't want him or care about him. Heroic young man.
Went to high school in the the late 1970's...Pleasant Hill / Dexter, Oregon with Ken Kesey's kids. Got to see his magic bus parked in the weeds. They were good, nice kids...wrestlers.
Thanks for remembering Steven. I'm exactly the same age as his older brother who has taken more of history than he should've. Steven was a good kid, a brave kid and he suffered a lot. Growing up in San Francisco during the 60's onward there was so much going on and if any of us took time to really dwell on it too much, all the terrible things that were happening to people, to kids...we'd too scared all the time to actually function. It was amazing to see that a kid could come back and live his life. Thanks again for this video. He deserves to be remembered for the good kid that he was.
When I was a child I was visiting my father in southern California. He has this flyer for some kind of festival in a park or whatever and there was what he thought was a led Zeppelin cover band playing. We went to it and Dad was pissed off because it was all reggae and ska stuff (this had to have been in like 91 or 92). The cover band ended up being dread zeppelin, Dad was disgusted by it, but I drew a picture for him on the back of the flyer. Many years later I was visiting my dad as an adult and he still had the picture on the wall. I looked at the flyer on the back and one of the bands I saw was sublime. I don't remember them but I freaked out as I was a sublime fan at this point and didnt even know that I had seen them live.
Fantastic story! That's cool that your dad still had the flyer hanging on his wall
What happened?
I have the whole story right here: ruclips.net/video/5jR7n5aAJcU/видео.htmlsi=jFCkOFaA4vhRk8k8
R.I.P., Arlis Perry.
Absolutely. 50 years now.....R.I.P.
Exaggerations and some lies.
They sere a great band.
No need to use modern footage (fire, earthquake) when talking about historical events.
Excellent video. I didn't know he lived on Parnassus or where the original Rolling Stone office were. Very cool. One correction. The Seal Rock is not where he wrote Fear and Loathing. He wrote it, or at least started it, at a hotel across the street from Santa Anita Race Track in Arcadia, Ca. while he was working on another article about the killing of Ruben Salazar, which is how he met his "attorney"
A unnecessary use of the word mansion, try to use the word house , it’s a well appointed house not a mansion! . One does not have silk wallpaper, one hangs the wall with silk.
A unnecessary use of the word mansion, try to use the word house , it a well appointed house not a mansion!
Congratulations guys! In the 1980's I made it to the cables but it was wet and rainy and decided too risky! So beautiful!
Thanks for the research! Can we see the site of Magoo's? I'm wondering why you're showing someone playing an oud starting at 4:19. It's not a folk, rock, or jugband instrument!
Sure....here is a link to where I visit the former Magoo's Pizza in Menlo Park. Its opening soon as a new restaurant called Loretta. ruclips.net/video/Q-kzhE2Ma7g/видео.htmlsi=IVKJ8nSDlEZFE5Om
Any insight on the house in Bolinas in Marin? Heard that was a cool place too
Not yet but I will look into it. Thanks!
70's? uh uh.
Yes....Check it out: www.sfgate.com/obscuresf/article/sf-2400-fulton-jefferson-airplane-17751356.php
Uh, is that it over there?
i remember when this house was painted all black.
That must have been a sight to see when driving past it.
Who owns it now?
Was able to see the house in all its dark glory on a visit to SF in the 70's -- their music is one of the quintessential 'American' contributions to human cultural history 🖤
If you’re gonna tell a proper story of hippies and other counterculture stuff in San Francisco, it all has to happen in the Haight Ashbury. Even if it didn’t. 😆
I wish the new owners hadn't painted the pillars.
