    1. EDT, EDP and parfum don't just differ by concentration. They differ by some notes as well. If you don't like one doesn't mean you will like the other.
    2. Natural ingredients aren't always better. Perfumes must be a combination of naturals and synthetics to give you the best performance.
    3. Sunlight causes a perfume to degrade. Time doesn't do so much of it.
    4. Layer perfumes that are similar. Pair a cheaper one with a more expensive one.
    5. There is no rule to find your signature scent. Explore and find what you like.
    6. Perfumes don't smell vastly different on different people. There's a small difference.
    7. Price and quality don't correlate.
    8. Perfumes aren't made by the brand. Cosmetic companies make them.

    I'm confused as to why people can smell perfumes differently. I just got a ton of new fragrances and my mom hated pretty much all of them. They're pretty popular and well liked fragrances so I wonder why our sense of smell can be so different. But at the same time, if someone is wearing a perfume I'm familiar with, I will instantly know what they're wearing(so doesn't that mean they smell the same on other people???) My mom said that La Nuit Tresor smelled like nail polish remover and for me it smells like caramel apples lol. Like.. that's a huge difference in how we are perceiving that smell. I wonder if it's because of things we've smelled in the past and we connect that scent to something familiar.

    • @a.beaverhausen1140
      @a.beaverhausen1140 3 года назад +6

      Yes! I think you're onto something. My mother is 75 and hates virtually all of my perfumes. She likes a certain scent profile that is very vintage, floral, sometimes powdery & mature. Kinda like music....we like what we grew up with it seems.

    • @raia42787
      @raia42787 3 года назад +3

      @@a.beaverhausen1140 My mother confuses me because she likes very sweet perfumes and so do I. I think I'm more adventurous in what I'm willing to try though. But I mean she only likes Ariana Grande Sweet Like Candy and Burberry Her. She didn't like La Nuit Tresor, Hugo Boss The Scent Absolute, JPG Scandal, Tom Ford Velvet Orchid, Angel Muse EDT, Alien Fusion, Girl of Now Shine, Burberry Black, Pink Sugar. Pretty much she hates most of my perfumes lol. But what I can't understand is that she says they smell too "musky" and that they smell "too mature." But for me they smell really sweet. Literally, she says Pink Sugar just smells like powder meanwhile I can smell the licorice, cotton candy, caramel and all the yummy sweet stuff. That's why I believed that skin chemistry did make perfumes smell different on people. But maybe it's not skin chemistry. Maybe it all has to do with our perception of a smell compared to things we've smelled before. Idk just an idea🌼😊

      A lot has to do with our noses lol.....some of us are more sensitive to certain fragrances than others, also our hormones,what we eat and if we smoke can affect how we smell fragrances. One fragrance that baffles me is BR540 and AG Cloud....all I get is a resinous headache inducing blast....no floral or sweet note at all .......Maybe we can train our noses lol x

    • @raia42787

      @@lindalou8120 Lol and for me I absolutely adore Cloud. It smells like whipped cream, a bit of a cologne smell, and sometimes even a strawberry candy smell for me😄 noses do be funny tho🧐
      Side note a bottle of Olympea Intense came in today and I swear I can't smell anything besides salt and pencil shavings, meanwhile other people say it's this amazing salty vanilla. Never fails to amaze me how many different things can be perceived with fragrance.

      @Sarah Would be very interesting to see what other sales techniques that perfume retailers teach their salespersons. I'll hazard a guess that they are exploiting the fact that there is a lot of ignorance among the general public, whose knowledge probably doesn't extend much beyond the likes of Coco Mademoiselle, Miss Dior, Sauvage and Bleu de Chanel. And I guess that many are using lines like expensive perfumes are always better quality than cheaper ones. Of course, there comes a day when they run into customers that regularly watch videos like these!

    Maybe you could do a video about your experience of working in the perfume shop.
    I imagine that you had many different kinds of customers, like the ones that came in for their signature scent, regular enthusiasts that came to top up their collections(especially when a new perfume was released) and knew their stuff, newbies looking for their first perfume, and my favourite - the "know alls" that tried to fill your heads with their "knowledge and expertise" , but on closer examination couldn't tell the difference between a rose and a raspberry.
    Think that would be very interesting!

And how can the manufacturer of a fragrance know precisely how it will unfold in order (top, middle, base)?

    • @mahasmith6695
      @mahasmith6695 3 года назад +2

      So.. I saw a video that said that a few days ago and I decided to put it to the test. When the lotion is still wet you spray the perfume and you let it dry. I tried it with Kayali Vanilla which I think has terrible performance. I sprayed it on at 8 pm and at 10 am I could still smell it on my wrist. I was in disbelief. The lotion was just a regular cocoa butter formula. I am trying the method right now with a mist. Let's see how it goes

    • @SokiLondon
      @SokiLondon  3 года назад +1

      Basically you want it not to rub off as your skin sweats so if the moisturiser will help it sink in then i guess it would help

      @@SokiLondon Thanks for your reply, I will try this. Did you know that perfume sales have absolutely soared since covid cus smelling scents helps against depression. Soki I think it would be awesome if you could do a vid about this like how covid has had such an impact on people now buying perfume and the perfume world throughout. More people last year have become perfume addicts than any other year. I also think that it's a subconscious thing cus one of the symptoms of covid is to lose your sense of smell
      Perfume is the one thing where we can really engage in our sense of smell in an exciting joyful way. We don't want to lose that, perfume is Such a huge comfort.

    Yes the same perfume can smell different in other people, and we are not talking about woods, lemons or candyfloss etc. giving 2 examples. Sometimes me, my sisters and mom would try the same fragrance on our skin ,and yes the same fragrance, but yet it had different outcome to each of us, and yes, body chemistry is a thing. A stranger wearing the same perfume next to me in the shop, as i own myself and i recognised it, yet, i smelled it had a different lay on her than on me, and it works like that differently on everyone. We are talking about pheromones in our bodies that are produced, and other body chemichals, certain smells can help to release pheromones and mix with them, like with our body scent and sweat. (eg. iso e super, hedione etc.) Yes we all have our own signature natural skin scent, everybody has a different and unique one, that the perfume or any fragrance mixes with, adding your own personal unique touch of note to it. Hence why everybody has its own preferance to perfume because everybody is different. So no, lemons arent gonna smell like candy floss on other people because thats just funny.

      To prolong your perfumes and edt for longer the best advice i can give you is to not throw away your fragrance box, and store it in the drawer together with it. In a box in the drawer.
      Could also be under the bed in a storage box or closet as well. ps you can admire your perfume bottle while spritzing the perfume.
