  • Threw together a couple clips on the plug change. Wish it was a little better with all going on around me at the time, but hope it helps. Also there are various way of removal and this is the way I favor, but yours might suit you better. Your looking around 20ish minutes a side. Don't forget copper anti-seize (spark plug threads) and die-electric grease (coil boots). Also check the gap to make sure it's correct! If you get Iridium IX and the gap is not correct you can adjust it using only the ground electrode only (caution needs to be taken adjusting)!

    Just finished this myself. Video proved it was possible and I appreciate that. I'm a novice, so this job took much longer than he estimated.....far longer. The plugs closest to the firewall are the most difficult. The rear drivers side is nearly impossible. You may want a 1-3/4" extension as well. Back plugs are super tight to get to and frustrating. The passenger side plugs were done from underneath and top of the engine. While the driver side can be done from the top exclusively. Good video but be prepared to burn some time getting this job done....note: low profile tools are a must.

    I know this is an old video, but I wanted to offer some advice. Pick up some grip tape, and use it on the extensions and socket wrench handles. It makes holding and turning so much easier.
    EDIT: I just changed my plugs and coil packs on my B9, attempting to fix a misfire in cylinder number 6. It took two days, 3 socket wrenches, a torque wrench, a low profile tool set, several extensions and universal joints, a headlamp, and I broke two coil pack clips. The driver's side was not too bad, and was done from above after removing the battery. The passenger side was a different story. I tried going at it from above, after removing the airbox and intake hose. However, there are ridged power steering hoses bolted to the frame support, and there is simply not enough room to work. I ended up jacking the passenger side up, and going at it from underneath after removing the splash guard. Much more room to work. Thanks for posting, and I wish anyone else who does this luck!

      Mechanic wanted $850 to replace my brake lines on a Chevy Shitverado. Said the entire cab needed to be lifted off the frame. Which is how Chevy says to do it. I did it all MYSELF for $54 and no lifting of the cab and in just a few hours. I simply slid the front passenger brake line through the front bumper. Smh

      Most vehicles are on the side near the top. These are on the side bcuz its a "boxer" engine. Difference being that the pistons are 90° (sideways) rather then like a "V" like most engines.

    • @SyntheticVisionsAutomotive
      @SyntheticVisionsAutomotive  10 лет назад +1

      They're not too bad. At least you don't have to remove the intake manifold like a lot of manufactures are doing now just to change the back plugs. Both our B9's are running strong with almost 150,000 on them. I agree with the wipers that dealer only for the wiper, but I just by the refills at the parts stores for around 15 and I have an extra set.

      Israel Gonzalez Could of been packaged wrong, or there are people that'll shove different sparks plugs in boxes and return them all so they could get free plugs. Part stores don't check half the time to make sure they are right.

    • @SyntheticVisionsAutomotive
      @SyntheticVisionsAutomotive  7 лет назад

      Israel Gonzalez check head gasket! If it's pushing coolant out exhaust might be leaking into the coolant system, unless it's leaking out the block by itself by the head. They make tester to test coolant for presence of exhaust at the part stores. Also check the coolant cross pipe for leaks when hot and cold. Could be water pump is wore too depending on mileage.

    • @SyntheticVisionsAutomotive
      @SyntheticVisionsAutomotive  6 лет назад

      clock143 check awd works and if it's been maintained properly. Usually like with all Subarus look at head gaskets which in these might develop a seepage. Mine had slight seepage, but only had to add maybe half a quart between 3-5k which I ran full synthetic in it and the 93 octane. Other than that we had 2 and never had any problems within the 50-70k we put on them. Oh front sway bar bushings wear out so upgrade to poly and it'll be fine. You can also check the forums for anything farther in depth.

    • @SyntheticVisionsAutomotive
      @SyntheticVisionsAutomotive  8 лет назад

      always check the gap. They usually aren't pre gapped for most vehicles. Owners manual or identification stickers under the hood usually contain the info. If you can't find it usually the parts store website will contain it also.
