Is Knoxville TN area retiree friendly? Taxes, safety, etc. Medical care? I love the water. Which areas are nearest to the lakes? Thank you for the info you provide.
Lakeway Region is probably place to start. Yet 30 years ago many properties were available. Douglas Lake in Jefferson is pretty much out of available real estate, except the south shore but it is remote or land locked. The south Grainger county area bordering north Hamblen has a lot of water areas available as Cherokee Lake revivor influences a lot of the region the water even stretches into western Hawkins county. Watts Bar is also worthy of consideration.
Thank you for this video. I found it to be very helpful as the wife and I are moving there in 2025. My oldest son used to live in west Knoxville for a year so I’ve been on the fence with either south Knox or the tri-cities area. That being said, my youngest son is special needs and the thought of being closer to the larger Knoxville area seems to be more appealing. In your opinion is the weather and temperatures relatively the same between the Knoxville and tri-cities areas?
I don’t think you would notice much of a difference in weather. Glad this video was helpful for you! If you have any other questions then just let me know.
I'd take a closer look at the healthcare. As a retiree, I've heard some not great reviews on tri cities healthcare, so I'm definitely leaning to greater Knoxville area if I retire in TN.
My husband and I live in Cali are we’re coming to look for horse property in East Tennessee. Can you recommend a conservative horse community with trail riding?
That's a lot to unpack. You have A LOT of options, but I'd end up typing 7 paragraphs to cover everything. Would you be open to a phone call? That would be a lot easier.

I think so. People have been retiring here for years so I would say so. If you’d like to talk more about it then feel free to give me a call.
