- We are very happy to share the third webinar of the Trade Hub’s ‘Trade and Nature: Trade-offs and Solutions Series’ today. The purpose of this series is to identify and share case studies, present recent findings and demonstrate the impact of our work, but in this webinar we have also used the convening power of the TRADE Hub, and brought together a panel of experts to discuss ‘Trade, Biodiversity and Climate Change’. In the aftermath of COP26, there is no longer any doubt that the climate and nature agendas have converged, as many agree that this was the most nature-focused climate COP ever. It may take a little more time for nature to take centre-stage at the formal negotiations, but biodiversity and nature had a strong presence among the commitments, pledges, and larger halo of activity that took place at COP26, a part of the conversations on adaptation, mitigation, and overall resilience. Global trade plays and will continue to play a significant role in how these pledges for climate and biodiversity play out over the next 9 years, up to 2030, and beyond.
So, following on from this momentum at COP26 and thinking about the broader environmental and developmental commitments related to global trade and food systems, this webinar will explore the outlook for trade policies in relation to biodiversity and climate change.
