Great video explaining how you use, and possible uses for, double sided drive pedals too- it’s a really great way to get a multitude of tones for different applications quickly and that’s the useful thing I think- once you know yourself as a player/what you’re going for in a song or set you can have a ton of fun getting a couple of pedals set just right to deliver some wonderful tones for yourself quick and that’s always a joy in my opinion !!! Also love that strat but really really love that 335 haha !!!
@@AudiomoMusic yeah man I mean I’m not knocking the strat, it’s fantastic, but there’s just something about the 335 for me…. Just such an amazing tone to say the least
Jim, thanks for this one. Much better to hear than read how you're using the two pedals. Both sound pretty great. That bit of sizzke when you really dig into the ES sounded sweet. Some useful info as I'm building my board. I tend to use the Benson as an always on with my Jazzmaster. Been playing around with a Spun Loud Litigator, which is designed to capture the Beano tone. Love it with the Tele. Trying to find some balance as I don't want or need a giant board. I'll end up with a giant board. 😂 No second power supply though.
You do well just talking off the cuff! I'm starting to consider some sort of pre-amp simply to "normalize" the signal between my Tele and HH Peavey, the two guitars I tend to use in my "live setup" (aka "the basement rig", since I don't play live and mostly use software otherwise). My amp is a JC-55, so it has headroom for days and doesn't matter, but the dirt pedals themselves will sound vastly different depending on how hot or bright the signal is. I've speculated about getting into a multi-FX stomp, and wondered if they support the notion of per-guitar presets on the input so that you can get a fairly reliable "base signal" that plays nice between guitars without additional editing. 🤔
Interesting vid - thanks Jim. I've had the protein since its first incarnation, so that's about 4 years from memory (give or take) & run it alongside Hot Cakes. The versatility & tones available is nigh on endless, so hearing and seeing how others use their gear in this way is very useful. Cheers man. 🎸🎸🎸
It's a pedal that if I had to only pick one for driven sounds, I would struggle thinking of one I'd choose over it. That's awesome you've been on since the beginning with them. Obviously, you still owning it 4 years later lets me know exactly how you feel about it haha
@@AudiomoMusicNo doubt others are similar or just as good, but offering some different flavours (eg Gladio) , but totally....nothing I've found can replace it in a single pedal.
I have this strat same year 2006 AY “signed” pickups !! However mine has gone from the faded sonic blue to a dirty white / grey which is weird as it’s poly not nitro sounds amazing looks like it’s got sea sickness !! Lol
I keep trying to get down with a Strat, they sound so great. I just never bond with them. My brother has 2 I could bond with though but every time I try on my own, nah, doesn't work. Yours looks nice.
strats are tough man, I got lucky with the JV but I never really find many other long term keepers or ones I bond with. This one is going right back into the world, nothing wrong with it but doesn't work for me either haha
Cool vid. BTW, why the name Audiomo? Was it just to give the channel a name ir is there some significance to that name? Just wondering, thx for the content!
in all the years of doing this I've never been asked it... when I was in grad school I had to come up with a company and make a full business plan attached to it - the name Audiomo is what I came up with which was meant to mean - modern audio in a unique way. It just kinda... stuck around from there.

I'm the same as you, could leave the strat and many fenders honestly if it meant i could keep the 335 hahaha i love that Gibson

Appreciated!

Off topic, but that Strat looks gorgeous with sounds to match! 🎸🎸
Agreed! I always loved this color combo, just classic
Ah, the Abigail Ybarra Strat.
I met her on her last week of work 10 years ago! Shes a flirt!
My first fender custom shop was a tele with Abby pickups... I adored how that guitar sounded

@@AudiomoMusic ahh, Audio Moderne! Clever!
do you run the preamp into the protein or protein into the preamp?
Preamp into the protein
What a awesome video Jim have a good day also have you heard about the war in Israel ❤😊
I regret selling my Benson preamp. I’ll have to buy another one later. 🐸 In fact, I think I regret selling any of my pedals. 😅
Man, where has that Strat been all my life? Beauty 🩵
If you lived here I'd sell ya the thing in person, it's gorgeous but I don't neeeeeeeed it haha
