COVID made Zoom a household name and it was a lifesaver for many workers and companies. Research however, shows that collaborating in person with a group of like-minded workers and peers is far more productive with better outcomes. Working in isolation or looking at a screen all day long is not productive. I liked the old version of Zoom because it served the purpose of linking people with other people and not necessarily for work. I think they should have left the old version of Zoom intact, along with the new Zoom Workplace. Afterall, they make automobiles, planes, boats and almost any product on the market today in all shapes and sizes for different purpose. Gatherings of people are collaborations of different sorts. Limiting Zoom to primarily a workplace activity is pretty shortsighted. Ive already started looking at other video conferencing products that don't just cater to the workplace
The old Zoom Meetings from Covid hasn't changed at all. They did leave it completely intact. You can simply ignore the extra workplace stuff if you don't need it and just continue using Zoom Meetings the way you did during Covid. It's not limited to workplace activities in any way. It just has extra workplace features for people who do want to use it for work, that you don't have to use.
@@LetsDoVideo You used to be able to pay a subscription each month for Zoom but now you can't. I mean, they say you can choose monthly or yearly but when you try to click on the montly payments it starts asking for your ABN which is the Australian Business Number that businesses use. That never used to be the case. In fact, al you had to do was pay the monthly sub and do it every month. Why an international corporation would ask for your ABN number is disturbing. Trying to get the monthly sub deal was not possible when I tried so really you are being asked to pay the full year sub. Theyve made it that way. Hence why they are no longer attractive for non-Business groups.
Glad I came across this. I do have a question. When I send out my Workplace personal ID will the folks that still have the basic older version of Zoom still be able to connect without having to upgrade & download the workplace version?
Great question. While I haven't tested it myself, I'm assuming that guests on the old version will be able to join Zoom Meetings without a problem. The Meetings themselves still work pretty much the same. There are millions of people joining Zoom meetings as guests these days, and Zoom doesn't want them annoyed by a bad experience. So I would guess that if it does force a download, it would be pretty quick, or done in the background. I could be wrong, but those are my thoughts!
Great insight. I host a monthly social Zoom call. I'm wondering if this will help me grow and have smoother calls. I already have PRO. Wondering how basics will change. Guess I'll just have to see.
